I'd like to do that too. Trouble is, I'm not sure how to get started.

Drugs man, that's the way to do it.
Honestly though, what I do is based on pure luck lol. I just get lucky a lot. Lucky in finding good contacts and stuff who supply me with cheap crack... ahhhmm I mean monitors.

Yeah, I kind of prefer its looks to the 900. As for the monitor, Dell 2408? Samsung SM245?

Mort81,
Quote: umm, the CM 690 is not aluminum. it's steel/SECC.
I know it's steel! LOL!! I was just thinking about this case I had one time and it wobbled all over the map until everything was screwed down and installed. As you know, I really like my Cooler Master Cavalier, which incidentally has been returned to CM's product list!

I'm selling them for 800 plus shipping. I think they might be refurbished. All they come with is the monitor and power cables. I checked and they are all under warranty by HP. This is the link at newegg(except I have the newer revision). Not talking about 24 or 26 inches, these are 30 Inches!

NO stupid questions just stupid answers. lol.
I personally think if you're gonna go with a 64 bit OS (Windows) you should go with Vista as you're doing. ;) I like the idea of having SP1 already there. Saves one step and is worth the extra $10 to me. jm2c.... isn't worth much but hey... ;)
You're still gonna have to run the Windows update utility but having SP1 as I said should shave some time there. ;)

And here I am thinking that all current Vista users have to pay for the SP1 update....stupid me.
Anyway, what's the advantage over 32bit? It's faster n supports 4GB ram, but I'm worried about the driver compatability.

Just my opinion, but Vista in any form sucks! I've had to deal with Vista "Home" and Vista "Home Premiere"! First off, it's slow and nothing looks familiar in the system folder of the control panel! Not even the Icons! One I had here for repair, would sit there idling and crash. 3 times in 15 minutes. I installed a new 500GB hard drive in one and had to go through all sorts of crap calling M$ to authenticate the new drive. Bill Gates can keep his version of "Big Brother". I don't like being told what hardware, software or operating system I'm "allowed" to use. It's my computer, not Bill Gates's!

That looks pretty good Lp, thanks for the heads up. It will be a while before I do anything, but I'll keep that one in mind.

got a question guys. about HDD's and boot order.
ive just cloned my 100gb from my 250gb. i have the 100gb pluged into the mobo now not hte pci-e card i got. i have my sata drive unpluged. the puter is up and running fine(other than this 100gb is 8mb cache and is slow) if i plug the sata drive back in. in the 01 slot instead of the 00 will it be seen as the secondary drive and boot up from the 100gb that i set the jumper pin in as master?
the reason for this is i want the 100gb to be the master for now. so i can do a complete format on the 250gb and then let windows see it as 250gb now that i have SP2 installed then i will clone the 100gb over to the 250gb....
oh yea. my temps seem to be going down the longer this thing seems to be running. im now when idleing my temps are in the mid to high 40's 46-49c and the cpu temp is in the high 20's 27-29c
right now im running orthos and the temp is only 56c been running about 22 mins

If you're using Arctic Silver that's normal as it has a set-in period during which temperatures will decrease.

hdd's working right.
OS working fine now
temps are down. everything is great....

Russ, i have had vista 32-bit from july last year. not one BSOD, not one incompatibilty, and i wouldnt go back to XP.
then last month i moved to 64-bit. i didnt go once a day w.o a minimum of 3 BSODS (mostly down to Nvidia). then last week i moved back to 32-bit. no problems, untill i installed Nvidia BETA drivers. the newest ones came out yesterday, where as the newest WHQLs came out LAST DECEMBER!
the next build i do (September/October) I will not get Nvidia, however good they are, unless they sort out thier Drivers.
