That Intel is all but worthless! You can't even get in the setup let alone overclock it! There's a few other knocks as well! First the Chipset, X38/ICH9 vs the X48/ICH10 in the DS4. Then there's the memory, DDR3, which last time I looked had horrible Latencies and was more expensive than DDR2! You can get a pair of 1GB DDR2 Dominator 1066MHz memory for $49 with the MIR! With DDR3, the lowest cas latency is 6, and naturally they cost the most! More affordable memory is cas 7-9!
I would take the P35 over this one!

russ then why dont you moan about the latencies of DDR2 to DDR1? with the 2.5s of DDR vs the 4 of DDR2

because DDR2 didn't cost much more than DDR1. PC6400 CAS4 was barely any more than PC3200 CAS2. Since most PC3200 was actually CAS3 it was better. DDR3 is a higher speed still, but unlike with DDR1, the extra speed is all but pointless.

umm DDR2 just last year was about £150 for 2x1GB PC-5300
now you can get PC-1333 2x1GB DDR3 for about £100.
DDR3 has a Quadpumped FBS, unlike DDR2, which is double pumped.

indeed, and at a similar time PC3200 CAS2 stuff would set you back £150 for two gigs as well...

and people were lapping it up, and i kept DDR till a few months ago when it was £30.
didnt you also buy DDR2 then? (last year)

I did - this is the grand irony of it, I bought two pairs of 2GB XMS2 PC6400 CAS4 stuff, exactly the same. The first 2GB I bought in January 07 for £155, the second 2GB I bought this march for £30 off someone second hand, but it was only £41 in the shops I seem to remember...

None of the LG drives on Newegg are SATA except the bluray drives...

Have you sorted by rating? The top few are all 4/5 eggs, and it's overall rating is an acceptable 72%, plus most of the people who review stuff on newegg don't know what they're talking about.

That one drive you gave the link to has 4/5 and 5/5 rating of 61% in total, and a 23% in 1/5. But if you say it's a good drive, I'll take your word for it!

Is their a significant difference in these, I noticed 2 are Yorkfieds, & 1 is Kentsfield. Also is this a good enough cooling unit 4 any of these CPU (ARCTIC COOLING Freezer)

I like the Optiarcs for my burners and the Asus for the DVD-Rom. All my standard builds are that way, 1 burner and 1 DVD-Rom. I think the 32-33 I've built this year so far, account for about 27 AD-7170 Burners and maybe 30 Asus DVD-Rom drives. I've only had one fail, and that was mine! Power supply dead shorted the 5v across the 12v while it was playing! The DVD burner makes some air noise, but very little vibration, with no buzz at all! The Asus 16X DVD-Rom makes almost no noise! It's whisper quiet! I sell a ton of both every year, and never had a complaint yet!

Is their really that much of a difference in these CPUs, I know price
I Mostly use 4 Ecoding & Converting Movies. Not a Gamer. I like to do a half doz things at the same time. (AVI Recomp, Auto GK, Dr DivX, Burn, Clone DVD, Surf the net all at once)

2x2GB RAM IMO.
if your OCing and by the mobo you want youd be really screwed not to, id go for the Q6600 for preice to performance, esp when OCed.
it SHOULD to do 3.2 with ease.
get a tuniq tower instead, or an OCZ vendetta 2.

if you can swing the price the Q9450 would be what i get.it and the Q9300 yorkfield are the newer 45nm chips the Q6600 still a awsome chip is the older 65nm chip.
with the Q9450 you shouldnt/wont have a problem doing all the things you like to do.
as for your mem,try and get the 4gigs.just personal preferance as to 4-1gigs sticks or 2-2gig stick. try and get the lowest case latency of the two.

and hoenstly, get PC-6400, why use 1066 when you never going to reach those speeds?

not trying to sound like a azz, but why wouldnt he reach those speed's? if he does any kind of OC the ddr2 800 pc6400 will be OC'd and if he does a real good OC the PC6400 will have a strain on it. with the 1066 he can OC the CPU until tomorrow and wont have to worry about the mem.

if you're gonna spend that kind of money on a mobo, I recommend the asus rampage formula. you won't be sorry. 5 eggs!
the major difference between the Q9450 and Q9300 other than clock speed is that the 9450 has 12M L2 cache where as the 9300 only has 6M L2 cache. double the L2 cache with the 9650. big time difference.

Yeah, plus he could use the multiplier options to get higher clock speeds on his memory. He doesn't have to do a 1:1 ratio.
