Hi guys, im a noob at rebuilding but have done a good job at backing up many games. But the nightmare i've encountered is METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SUBSTANCE PS2. I've tried nearly EVERYTHING! Nero Burning Rom method Gnie's Expert v1.03 rebuilding method and I gave up on the 2 disc guide method with hexing and CD/DVD Generator. After i finished Hexing i used CD/DVD Generator 1.5 to build. When i click record the DAMN program says "THE RECORDING UNIT IS NOT CONNECTED"
WTF!!!???? I've checked other threads and everyone who's got to back this game up refuses to help solve this problem for people like me tryin to burn MGS2S PLEASE HHHHHHEEEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!!

RECORDING UNIT IS NOT CONNECTED

if you export it to an ISO you should have no problem burning it with any other program.

I have a huge problem trying to rip MGS2:Substance PS2 and use it with SWAP MAGIC 3.6. I've followed the old guide step by step and the hexing guide u provided. Many thanks to that, But when i use CD/DVD GENERATOR to make the .IMS file it says "TOO SHORT LOCATION LENGTH" So then i replaced the three 1byte dummy files i recreated to the original DEMO2, STAGE2, & VOX2.DAT files, created the .IML file, used .IML2ISO then burned it with DVD Decrypter and it was no good. the game stood on the black screen after LOAD PROGRAM. PLZ HHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLPPP!
much appreciated.

hello
the only way to back this game is to use a dvd-9 disk, but for that you need a compatible chip
or,rip it to 2 dvd's
you cannot put this game onto 1 disk, its not possible
i ripped this game some time ago now,and my 2 disks work, pls dont ask me how i did it though,i dont remember the exact steps
i seem to remember looking at a guide on this site somewhere, and that is close enough and good enough, and i wont beable to add much more input,as its hard to describe what to do without actually coming over to your house and ripping it myself!!
@Gamergod,the error you have is quite normal, you just click past it.
thats why you need to use iml2iso to create the iso,as cd/dvd gen doesnt recognise many burners,i think the pioneer 106 is the only one, maybe wrong on that
there is a patch that increases the number of burners that are compatible with cd/dvd gen,but i wouldnt bother
cheers
ps,just buy the game from somewhere,it will save you so much hassle
as you may be attempting something you will never complete
intel P4 660,2048mb ram,2 X 400gb sata HDD,2 x pioneer cd/dvd combo drives...

Yeah this is a treacherous game for newbies. It can work on two discs with Swap Magic or with a modchip. However it involves rebuilding, shrinking, and hex editing, not for noobs to attempt. I have a Matrix Infinity, so I just made a straight burn to Verb DVD+R DL media. It'd probably be less hassle to get a copy for cheap off ebay then fit it onto two discs.
