ace comabt states it needs 2.81 but I just tried this myself on a couple diff firmwares. i tried it on se-b and 2.71 emulated (devhook) and they both ran it.

I was at EBGames yesterday and the guy that works there said Vice City will probably be 2.71, but that they will have the game on display so they can let me try it on my PSP before I buy it to see if it works. They also said I could get a refund for my pre-order if I wanted.

damn, so i need 2.81? if does oh well, ill keep it until it 2.8x can be emulated. if it doesnt, ill go buy a twisted metal and then use it for ace combat x :)

i seen people all over the net that already had gta vcs i think one of them had said it was 2.71 but i dont qite remember ya'll should try 2 google it

does anyone here have a 360? ace combat x looks like over g fighter, except that over g fighters beats the cr*p out of ace combat x...graphics wise lol

i got a 360, but haven't played Over G Fighters. want to but haven't yet.....i was gunna get Ultimate Alience and X-men Official since it was Buy UA get XO free, but they were out of XO and wouldn't substitute so i said F Circuit City!

Well, Over G Fighters is a pretty good game. Lately i been getting really interest in jet fighters /jet fighter games. hell, im thinkin bout joinin the navy just to fly one of them jets..crazy huh?

Not postive but if you want to fly in the navy I think you need to go to college first then go in as a second leutient.

my friend sister is in the navy and it turns out only a lucky few even get to fly i mean u realy think they will let just any one fly those million dollar ship's?

Yeah and when you become a pilot you are worth more than a million dollars to them because of the training they spent on you. So you are well protected.

When I was playing Ace Combat 4 on PS2, it really made me crave doing it in real life too! I wouldn't want to go to war when the time came though :-/

it works on 2.71 although it comes with the 2.81 update. tried it on emulated 2.71 with devhook and se-b.

I FINALLY got Ace Combat working on 1.5 with devhook .46.
I left the update folder, and its contents, set to 2.71, changed remote address to the second one down (forget the number) and it worked.
I tried deleting that update folder, just its contents, 2 different packs, and all it took was messing with the remote address.

I dont know what its "for" but I tried them all a couple of times to get things to work and I don't THINK it can brick you.

naw it wont brick the only time u can brick a psp is when u mess with the flash but if i were u i would just get a cutome firmware that way u no longer have to worry about brickin your psp

I was at EBGames today and the guy at the store let me try GTA VCS on my PSP. I was using Devhook .46 to emulate FW 2.71 and it didn't work. It said that I needed to upgrade, but I don't remember if it was 2.81 or 2.82.
He wouldn't let me get a refund on my pre-order because I pre-ordered with trade-in games. Anyway, I thought about getting Ace Combat instead, but first I want to make sure that Ace Combat will work on my emulated 2.71. So can someone confirm that the actual UMD works on 2.71? Has anyone tried the actual UMD, as opposed to a download?

frugihoyi, can't believe it's so hard for ppl to answer ur original question :P
The real Ace Combat X UMD requires 2.81 and does not load under devhook 0.46 even trying out different devhook settings.
Stupid sony, how come I have to dump my original game just to play it!!! :(

Thank you, kyon! At least Vice City Stories is playable with SE-B now! By the time I'm done with this game, maybe we'll be able to emulate 2.81 or something. Hell maybe Ace Combat works on SE-B, but I'm not worrying about it right now.

Ive had GTA : Vice City Stories for a few days now.
Ive had it working with Devhook 0.44, 0.46 and Devhook with 1.35 mod...all running 2.71 fw.
The game is 1.6gb, although if you run it through ISO shrinker you can get it to 1.2gb.
I also have the ripkit for it which will get it to around 850mb if anyone wants it !! :)
By the way, the game is excellent....its looks much better than GTA : LCS
