My local OD only had the CMC media in the Maxell +R 50 & 100 packs. 2 packs of -r were there One hundred pack has PT in the part number & turns out as ProdiscF02. I hope it's good. It was $22.99 along with another hundred pack with MDM at the end of the part number instead of RT, PT or CMC. It codes out as RITEKF1. Interesting....
Some of the 16x Imation I picked up a few days ago at the OD clearance table was coded as MBI 03RG40. Is that the India stuff? Is it any good?

MBI is Moser Baer . . Made in India at a state of the art facility
Definately better than CMC . . . I can't imagine that it would be junk

greensman- Don't Buy Too much Maxell Anymore unless I run Across some MIJ which is rare but occasionally happens ! Mostly small Jewel cased packs ! & Also stocked up on them when they were still Mostly Riteks !!!! But I do like Ricohjpns Too & If Maxells are cheaper Than OFFICEDEPOT's Media it could be worth getting Where Exactly DO you look for the Part Number "of course gotta try and find the "RT" in the PART number per negritude.....to get ricohjpn discs!!!" Apparently I missed Negritudes post on that one ? Is it on the Disc itself or On the spindle Wrapper ? PS #1 Tell Gamma Hello LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The RT code is at the end of the part number on the spindle wrapper near the UPC code.

bratcher- Greensman , Negritude ! and everyone Else mentioned or not ! Thanks for the Information . Used To buy maxells on sale mostly when I could find MIJ's or When They were still Riteks like I aid earlier ! I Understand it's Not as Important who's Name is on the Disc or wrapper as it is who actually makes/Oem's the media And I kinda lost my Maxell JOnes when I found Out I could buy Officedepot Media cheaper and get the same Riteks ( In the good old 8x Days !!!) except for cosmetic differences ! I have'nt seen too much 8x Media atleast in brick & mortar stores in a long while so I mainly get 16x for my 16x burners !!! and OfficeDepot on sale is still usally cheaper Than Maxells and is either Ritek or Richojpns so I buy some of those on sale of course BUt it's always good to learn new things & have multiple sources for your supplies right ? Maybe someone could start a thread aboout Part #'s & Codes on the packaging of Media that correlate to who actaully makes the media ? Just a thought !!! again thanks and happy Burning !!!Ciao!!!!!!!

You mean it goes bad like Ritek G05 did? I'll burn a movie to one & play it back 3 & 6 months later to see if my DVD player can read it without problems.
Oh a movie test burned to that Indian made Imation played back just as bad as another CMC disc I test burned a movie to. Yuk!! The rest of that junk goes on Ebay (along with the CMC) tomorrow....
I only bought that Imation media because it was so cheap. Never buy it again. From now on I'll stay with TY & Verbs as I've always done.
Ritek? The 4x was fine, the 8x sucked & the 16x seems to be ok so far. In other words I've had experience burning movies to all 3 speeds in the past. TY & Verb is best though as everybody knows.

Yes I agree 100% on that!! The 16x Ritek is good too (in my opinion but the first 2 are better.
When I saw the Imation DVD packs so cheap the first thought I had was grab them then put up on Ebay. Wasn't really planning to keep them other than test burning a few discs.
Speaking of Imation, OD must be selling it off or something. No idea why though. Last month I took 16 fifty packs (all they had) of Imation CDR's made by Daxon or somebody that I don't remember. What I've burned so far as audiodiscs plays just fine. Not bad for $5 a 50 pack.
Yesterday I walked back into the same OD & found Maxell CDRs on sale at the same $5 price per 50 pack. Bought 2 then took them home & checked on who made them. Ritek & Prodisc. Both used in the past (for audio CD's) without problems so I went back & took 20 packs of them. Seems I won't be needing CD's for awhile.
Yes I know what your thinking. Stay with TY & Verbs!! For DVD's yes but CD's? I'm not so sure....

I like http://www.supermediastore.com/ for TY Premium CD-R and DVD-+R's. Great prices and usually free shipping. Sometimes they have specials that comes with free cases or something too. My last purchase was 200 TY Premiums, that ID'd as TY02's.

bratcher- For whatever it's worth Most ( Not all CDR's) But Most of the Major Branded CDR's I EVer Bought Coded out to CMC - I was a CDR Burner for quite awhile before I saw the light of the DVD Screen !!! And learned how to Identify media by who actually made it versus who's name was on the disc ! And surprisingly They {CMC) seem to be able to make a fairly decent CDR! Or maybe they used too because I must confess I have'nt Bought any CDR's in a Long time ! A combination of getting into DVD's and Having Bought enough CDR's to last me quite along time ! So maybe they've become not as good as they were ? By now? Ironically The only CDR's I remember having trouble with were some COMPUSA Branded ( Phooey & Patooey compusa!!!!!!) CDR's Made by RITEK !!! I did have a few Glow in the dark CDR's that Coded as Taiyo yuden but they gave me no problenms as you would surmise ! Other than that as I said Most everyting else coded out as CMC so Go figure ! They can make Good CDR's & Crappy dvd media anyway That's about it Buddy Ciao!
