Same, or rather, was until I did two things. Number 1, switch to Vista, but number 2, most importantly, press escape to get to the menu, then go back to the game. Did that and both the fan speed and frame rate soared, indicating GPU2 had woken up. Went from a miserable 22fps in a sheltered spot to a reasonable 34. Still at 1920x1200, going to re-test to see if I can replicate this, if it stays working, and if it renders 2560x1600 more playable.

Quote: Perhaps the cracked exe doesn't work with dual GPU support?
For shame :O
I hope it's just a cracked exe and not a pirated game. Piracy doesn't hurt console gaming, but it's hurting PC gaming badly. Don't make my only hobby die out :(
Anyway, no crossfire support is a load of bullcrap. I'm glad Crysis isn't the be all end all of games, or I would cry. Still, it's a great game so I might shed a tear or two :(
Gladly, almost every other game I play is crossfire compatible out of the box. Unless you tell me CoD4 and Oblivion don't use crossfire. Because those are the two that could use a boost. Other than that, a second 4870 is future proofing for me...

Oblivion scales well, COD4 scales the best of all. Anyway, read my revised post, Warhead DOES have crossfire support, if you use Vista. As far as the cracked exe goes, I was going to buy it assuming it worked. Now it does, I shall be purchasing the title on Steam shortly.

Sam, I missed something back there (thanks for the info about the LCD screens by the way.) You just got Warhead working, you own Warhead, now the cracked exe is Warhead, right? - so you're going to buy Warhead off Steam? What???

Buy it man. Support the developers.
I think it's funny the Geforce 6800s were almost useless in Oblivion. Isn't it a TWIMTBP game? As far as I've seen, 6800 Ultra struggles on medium settings at 1024 with only bloom on. But my X850XT was very playable on fairly high settings at 1280 res with bloom. Mine is still sitting around somewhere, lol. It was an amazing card in its day.

LOL holy cow! the FPS are high with AA/AF on max! Ha!
yesterday i was installing new PSU and GPU for my friend, and his computer was darn silent! Well, he only has CPU fan and a 80mm fan at the back. BUT it was so quiet, i kind of miss the "quietness".
SO People which case is better? P182 VS CM690
I will be OC my system and i don't want it to over heat

The CM690 is not much better than the P182 at the same noise level. The P182 can cool a system silently without it overheating, especially if you disconnect the noisy top fan. The CM690 will never run silent due to its design.

The CM690 will never be totally quiet, but it has a much better design for higher end cooling. If you buy good fans and stategically place them in the case and cover up the rest with sound proof foam it should give good results. The whole front is a mesh so it's still going to be noiser than the 182

The P182 fits four 120mm fans, which even at stock can be set to 2200rpm. It will be loud then, but to say it won't cool well like that is ludicrous. The P182 can cool as much or as little as you like.

oK...so one favour P182 and the other CM690..who shall i listen too LOL. I should listen to myself. hmm, i think i'll be CM690 it's like my "first" build and i want to have one extreme cooling case and later on a silent one. Because once i got the stuff i'll be gaming a lot! therefore need good cooling
thanks you two

i have the p 182 and i like it. it is very quiet and provides sufficient cooling. when the fans are on low i can not hear anything and it provides sufficient cooling. but cooling is not as good as some other cases. the 690 would be better for that but would not be as quite. when you do play games it is a good idea to increase the fan spead. i set them all to medium with cpu and gpu fan at max and my temps are fine and i can not hear anything except the game.

i don't know hey, CM690 is way cheaper than P182 here in South Africa. I don't mind the noise, but not too loud. If i use a fan controller then I should be able to control the fan/noise.

Well the P182 is a lot more expensive here too. The CM690 does some things SO much better though. It has much better cable management. The PSU can suck air right out of the bottom of the case and doesn't actually use air from the case. The top fan can blow cool air right in front of a tower CPU cooler and the memory and the side fan can give cool air directly to the graphics card.
It's just much better designed for cooling.

Quote: Oblivion used to be a really harsh game for its time, it was the Crysis of its day...
It still is fairly harsh on all but the fastest systems. My performance in CoD4 is way better at times. At 1920 x 1200 w/ 4xAA and 16xAF, I still get some choppy frames in really busy towns or in heavy combat. I'm not so worried because Oblivion can remain playable down to about 20FPS due to the slow pace of the game. But seeing those crossfire numbers is comforting. Oblivion could use some smoothing out.
Granted, Oblivion isn't the best for graphics anymore. But it's still in my top ten of all time for setting the benchmark for all to come after. Just like Doom 3, Half Life 2, Crysis, FEAR, CoD2. They all brought something newer and better to the table. You just wait for a few years. You'll look back on games like FEAR and HL2 and laugh maniacally.
