Indeed, I'm expecting as much, but I would have hoped this time around that CF support would have been included from the start rather than waiting for a patch.

Thanks for the link Estuansis, but it's not really very high that I have a problem with right now, it's just 2560x1600 resolution, no matter how low the details are set doesn't run well at all.
There are two models of the nexus fans. One is 15kRPM and is a little more expensive than the 25kRPM. Naturally it gives the noise range for the faster one, but only a single value (Probably at 700RPM) for the other. 34 customer comments on the slower one so I'm guessing that is the model you have and the faster one is new to the market. I'm not sure how loud the 25k RPM seems at 27.8dbA at top speed.

Just so you know, 1k is 1000, not 100, so you mean 1.5k and 2.5k... :)
As for the fans, I refer to the 1500rpm versions. They are quiet and more than adequate for that purpose. The 2500rpm ones will be noisy at full whack.

Hey Sam, being kind of ignorant about monitors - what did you mean by that, and is that a feature also available on HDTVs?
Estuansis, thanks for the link to that crysis guide. Very helpful. I'm saving that link for the time ..... (in the far distant future when automobiles fly) ..... when I have completed the new build.
It is certainly a shame, Sam, that Warhead doesn't support crossfire - which gives you no advantage over estuansis. Estuansis suspects a patch will shortly be in the offing - am I hallucinating or don't I remember the same about crysis itself - no crossfire support initially, only sli support, which was later obviously remedied to the tune of 80 to 90% performance gain? Was that done by crytek, or by ATI, or by both??

Hardvdguy, S-IPS is a type of LCD panel used in monitors and TVs. It only applies to LCD monitors and TVs. The cheap panels are TN panels and the viewing angles suck compared to S-IPS.

Just noticed that too. I guess taking 3 math classes this semester isn't enough.

Yah, you should be taking 3k math classes - Just kidding!! LOL!
What the hell is that thing - a Zune? Boozer, what's gotten into you?
No seriously, what the hell is a zune, and that thing, S-IPS, that makes LCD viewing angles better - do the cheap Vizio sets have that?

Yes, a Gears of War themed Zune. A Zune is like an iPod, but better. I used to have a Halo 3 themed 30GB Zune, and then I bought the Zune 80GB the day it came out and now I'm considering this. big fan.
S-IPS thing... LOL. It's not a think that makes LCDs better, it is a KIND of LCD panel. I'm guessing the Visio is TN considering it's so cheap. You will just have to go to the store and check it out in person and see how the viewing angles are.

Indeed, it's the same as the original Crysis Rich, you would think they would carry the support for CF over into the new game without needing to patch it again, but alas.
LCD Monitors you have:
TN - blazing fast response time, poor colour accuracy, especially at angles, cheap
S-PVA - still good response time, good colour accuracy, better viewing angles, more expensive
S-IPS - Adequate response time, fabulous colour accuracy and image quality, full 178º viewing angle with no degradation, only seen in select 20" and 30" monitors such as the Dell 2007WFP, 3007WFP, WFP-HC and 3008WFP.
I have no idea what they use in TVs or portable devices. Some MP3 Players don't even use LCD screens, they have Organic-LED (OLED) screens, such as the Zen V, which feature vastly better static contrast, lower power consumption and basically have all the advantages of CRT image quality, with all the advantages of the LCD with progressive-refresh, zero noise, minimal size (they're actually much thinner than LCDs) but at present, sizeable cost. These are the future though. As OLEDs use the actual pixels to produce the light themselves, rather than shining a backlight through a transmissive panel, if you want to display black, the LED is off, infinite contrast. Seemingly the only thing stopping this amazing technology in mainstream is that at present, the blue micro-LEDs have a very limited lifespan, so after a while an image will have a yellow tint to it...

OOOOOHHHHH
LOVE U MODS, took my suggestion with the name change :D
btw, sam, im pulling out of the E8600 and putting up to a Q9650.
farcry2 will natively support quads, and be 30% faster with them over duals, also with a Q9560 they were seeing maxed out DX10 with a GTX280 at 1650 a 60% usage
sam, im now worried abotu money lol.
i can get a water cooling, 4870X2 and an E8600 with an asus maximus II for about £1050.
adding a Q9650 would add another £200.....
but the thing is cod5 isnt taking advantage of dual cores, and my time will mostlikely be playing that.
i could rid the 4870X2, or instead of spening £80 on a water cooling block on it, leave it air cooled. move to a P5Q Deluxe, or a P45-DS5....
also i am only planning on getting the 320F1....
decisions decisions.

Why the all or nothing attitude? Why not stick with the original set of components?

hey yo guys, Will HD4850 512MB bottle neck a OCed Q9550? Or will HD4850 1Gb better?
and another similar question: Will a HD4870 512MB bottleneck or 1GB better?

You just can't ask open-ended questions like that, it depends what sort of games you'll be playing. In general, at 1680x1050, neither the CPU or GPU will be bottlenecks, even if you buy a 512MB HD4850. At 1920x1200 however, I would recommend an HD4870, but 512MB is still enough. You only really need 1GB for 2048x1536 and 2560x1600.

lol, my bad...but won't 1GB be better? There was a review for a 1GB HD4870, and the performance was superb! It was much better than 512MB in 1680x1050 and 1920x1200. HD4870 is not that expensive compare to old 8800GT 1GB and 512MB...

Perhaps, but the 4870's performance on its own is admirable, and the 1GB version is likely to cost a lot more, GDDR5 isn't cheap.

yeah i know, and i can't believe ATI is still leading. I thought NV has something it their sleeves, but nope!
I wonder how good will 40nm be. There are news about it now.

Official scientific benchmark tests for Crysis Warhead:
Resolution:1920x1200, Detail level: All Enthusiast. AA/AF: None
Test section: "Call me Ishmael"
Single GPU performance: 18-24fps. Techspot benchmark result: 18fps
Dual GPU performance: 15-22fps. Techspot benchmark result: 25fps
No idea how they got crossfire to work. Perhaps the cracked exe doesn't work with dual GPU support? Every other title I have that's supposed to work with crossfire, does.

Crysis never liked the red side, most benchmarks i've seen with any CF setup seems to fail. Only single GPU solution works. Hows your HD4870 X2?
