try copytodvd software.. seems to work..i think the problem is with the aspi drivers...
copytodvd uses Patin-couffin drivers..
and back to my problem..
as i mentioned..above i only get problem while buring data cd on cdr or cdrws..audio seems to work..
so i guess its the software which is the problem..if i can burn audio on the same cd ..and cant burn data ..then the software has bugs..
buring dvds seems a bit ok..

I've got a NEC 2510A DVD Writer, and i'm using it in a Mitec ME-360 external USB 2.0 enclosure (Oxford Semi OXFW911 Chipset).
But i'm getting serious/strange problems, when writing DVD's.
I'm using Nero v6.x.x.20.
If i attempt to burn a DVD-Video, the burn process is successful until around 50% of the data has been written, then Nero shuts down and i get a fatal exception error. But sometimes, the burn process is successful.
For example, i'll get problems when burning Battlestar Galactica Mini series, either part 1 or 2. But Stargate Series 8 is fine
I'm using the same software, NeroVision, to remove the ads and burn to DVD.
If i attempt to burn a DVD-Data......all i get is SCSI reset errors, before even the lead-in has been written to the disc.
I think i've covered all angles, but i can't find a resolution.
Just to rule out the DVD-Writer itself being faulty, i plugged it into my IDE port and i have no problems whatsoever.
My motherboard is an Asus A7N8XE rev 2 Deluxe.

I think Lei Lei from P.R. China has figured this thing out. In my previous posts, I had the SCSI error using Nero with an external case made by EURO ME-325U2 series, USB20 compliant but it has an ALi chip in it. Always failed using the Pioneer 108 DVD Writer during burn.
I ordered the Plumax model number PM-525U2-PCS from Dealsonic for 26 US Dollars, and installed the Pioneer in it, it did not give me a SCSI error but it did fail at 4X.
I will go back and check the scsi drivers I have installed etc that has been discussed in the forum. I will try again.

I don't think it's enclousure related at all. I was able to use my enclosure for a few month, burning 4x -R verbatim dvds at 8x without a single coaster. Later, after I burned my first +R I started having these problems, although before burning this +R I burned half a dozed -R verbatims without any problems. See my posts on one of the previous pages.

Later, after I burned my first +R I started having these problems. Interesting thing is that right before burning this +R I burned about 10 or so -R verbatims without any problems. I didn't even reboot in between burns. Was burning one after another and decided to give +R a try and right after that the remaining -Rs stopped working.

Hi guys, guess what. I have the same problem as the rest of you. (surprise, surprise) ;-)
I'm running Nero 6.3.1.25 on a Tablet PC with XPPr0 installed. I have a Iomega SuperDVD 8x installed on a USB2 port.
I have had 3 failures writing to DVD-R
I have no problems writing to DVD+RW
I cannot write to CD-R or CD-RW without getting the dreaded SCSI Command error.
But get this guys, I only have this problem when trying to write using Disk-At-Once. If I use Track-At-Once I have no problems writing to CD.
This problem writing to DAO seems to be a trend in all the logs I have read in this forum.
Craig,
Is this at all significant?
Also, I tried unticking the DVD High compatability and it made no difference.
Since wasting half a dozen DVDs and CDs, I now try simulated writing first and Nero bombs out at the start of the simulation after writing the Lead-in.
I won't bother clogging up the thread with my logs unless someone really wants them. They don't show any more than what's already been seen.

Guys,
it's for sure a problem with the combination USB-software (Windows and its drivers).
I have a LG4120B (which updated even to firmware A112) and a USB2.0/FW external case. Besides I'm using a DELL Latitude C640 with an ADAPTEC AUA-1411 USB2.0/FW PCMCIA card.
I had the some annoying problem that all of you described here till I started to use the FW cable instead of the USB one between the PCMCIA and the case.
Craig, tell me if some info from my system may be helpfull for you.

I have sent an email directly to Craig to see if he can figure out what is going on here. I quit using Nero because I cannot afford all the failures which destroy those DVDs. I have no problem with Ropxio Media Creator. It uses both external cases with either the Ali or Cypress chipset. I have updated drivers from Microsoft etc. I even purchased -R Rewrtable DVDs AND +R Rewritable DVDs and still have failures with Nero.
Craig can let us all know when Nero will work properly with the model cases and USB 2.0 I sent him.
Personally I think it is a Nero problem and I do not have time to troubleshoot his problem.
I hate to say that but since all the other DVD burnuing software works fine with USB then I arrive at this conclusion.
See ya later, Having a great time with Roxio and my USB burner.

Hello Everyone,
I've received a lot of feedback on this issue, and I want to thank all of you for your time. Now that I am back from my road trip, I can concentrate on this and a few other critical issues.
I hope to have some solid feedback for you by the end of the week.

I have been fighting with this problem for past 2 weeks.
Hardware: NEC 3500A in Bytecc external USB enclosure, Dell Inspiron 2650C, PCMCIA card for USB 2.0 from Sweex (NEC chip based) with WinXP drivers, WinXP with SP1 than SP2.
Software: Nero 6.3.1.25 and 6.6.0.1, Alcohol 120%
Here is my findings:
1. All works well for DVD+R and DVD+RW (different types like DVD-ISO multisession, DVD-ISO no multissession, DVD-Video)
2. For DVD-R works only multisession mode. When I tried to burn with no multisession or DVD-Video Nero reported "SCSI command aborted"
3. I switched to original lap-top's USB 1.1. Nero able to burn (in simulation) DVD-R in all above modes. But it take to mush time.
4. After reading this forum I removed Nero completely (filesystem and registry) than reinstalled it again. After that Nero able to burn (in sumulation) DVD-R with no multisession but still unable to burn DVD-Video.
5. Alcohol shows same results.
6. I tried to use Adaptec ASPI drivers instead of Nero's this result that Nero don't see drive at all.
My guess that trere is some incompatibility between ASPI drivers and USB 2.0 device drivers.

Been following this thread carefully since I tried to get my external DVD/CD writer working as I am having a similar problems with the Nero software burning CD's (haven't tried DVD's yet; as I can't afford to waste so many disks on failed attempts!)
My Hardware setup is:
Pioneer DVR-108 installed in a External 5.25" Enclosure via USB 2.0
My Laptop is:
Toshiba Tecra 1GB Ram, 1.6Ghz CPU and 60GB hard disk (50GB free) Running Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 and Nero 6.6.1
Desktop:
Fujitsu Siemens 500MB Ram, 2.5Ghz CPU and 80GB hard disk 60Gb free, Windows XP Service pack 2 and Nero 6.6.1
I have been able to occasionally burn Data CD's at (x32) and Audio CD's at (x10) however, I am not able to burn CD's any longer getting the dreaded SCSI error message. Even when I choose Simulate! There has been no hardware or software changes on my desktop (where I tested first) I have now tried to burn on my laptop and getting the same SCSI error message as on my desktop. I have checked I am on the latest firmware for the Pioneer DVR-108 and my machines using USB 2 enhanced drivers, please can anyone assist? I can send the Nero log if it helps.

Hi nnandha,
Yes, please send me the log files, and the report from Nero InfoTool at techsupport4@nero.com as I am working to resolve this issue and the more feedback from various customers will go a long way in helping me isolate the issue.
Regards,
Craig

I analyzed report from Nero Info Tool.
It shows that Nero decided (don't know why but...) that my enclosure connected to standard lap-lop USB 1.1 host controller. After I removed both USB 1.1 host controllers it start working as desired.
Is there any possibility to setup bindings between devices or at least setup priority of USB host controllers?

Hi, I discovered this site while looking up "SCSI command aborted" on google. As you might have guessed I have the same issue as a lot of you guys :(
My DVD-Writer is a LG GSA-5120D on USB 2.0 http://www.clubic.com/s/produits/92022.html
I am using Nero 6.3.1.20.
The media I am using are Traxdata DVD-R 8X (which nero only lets me burn at 4X and 4X only)
I am using a Generic USB 2.0 PCI card with a NEC chip and 5 USB 2.0 ports. The drivers are from the bundled CD as it is a generic card and I have no idea which NEC driver update I would need.
I have tried disabling the IMAPI CD Burning Service which doesn't seem to work as It has failed again since then.
I have tried doing a few simulations and that seems to work. But I think I will need to do some more to be sure that it never crashes on simulations.
So far I have successfuly burnt 12 DVDs but failed 7.
Any suggestions are welcome !
edit: the error happens at a random percentage of the burning process which is very frustrating because it wastes a huge amount of time.

Craig from Nero is doing some good work trying to solve the Nero errors but I'll simply repeat what worked for me and is still working perfectly after several weeks now
"Had the very same problem with my Pioneer DVD-108, which I also bought as a caddied EXTERNAL drive. Pioneer said the drive was never intended to be an external drive and wouldn't help so I tried various bits of software before finding a fantastic one which is both mega easy to use and extremely stable.
Visit www.ntius.com and get CD and DVD Maker and all your ills will disappear"

Each to their own gouzo
No problem with Nero when it works, indeed I've used it for CD's without many problems.
All I know is if I spend money on a DVD Drive I want it to work and with Nero it didn't, which tends to make you look around. I just stumbled on NTI and like it lots.
Good luck

I too have tried the software mentioned (NTI) and also the same problem I also suspect it's nothing really to do with Nero but something's wrong, no mention of issues on the Technet site either!
