Well said indeed. The price point for the PS3, EVEN with the huge loss per console still pushes it out of many people's price range. If the system is $600 then you are talking $800 by the time you get an extra controller, game and accessories needed. The points brought up here about the DS vs the PSP seem to possibly mirror the PS3 and Wii. I honestly think that the PSP will do nothing but build and build in popularity as the DS graphics really start to show their weakness against it in the future but it could end up too late to matter as long as the DS is always much cheaper. One thing Sony did with the Playstation AND PS2 was keep it competitive in price. That isn't so with the PSP and PS3. If there is one thing I think MS did right it was to pull the idea of the HD-DVD built in on the 360. The cost would have pushed the 360 too high as we are seeing with the PS3. Heck, the 360 is already high enough with a HD. Anyway, good comments as to the E3 showing.

Backupguy......who the hell said ANYTHING about being let down?
This year, and well into next year has a huge lineup of amazing games coming out for all systems, even PS2!!! Hell, this might have been the greatest E3 ever.
How were you possibly let down?
Oh yeah, I can't BELIEVE you missed out on the Halo MMORPG coverage!!! It was by far the biggest demonstration at E3!!!! I guess you also missed the showing for the very first Zelda fps too, that one was off the hook too!!!
*sarcasm*
(geez...wut the hell is a halo mmorpg??)

I have to give mad props to Oblivion even if it isn't my favorite type of game. To have the huge world it has and not require a hard drive is pretty awesome. Bring on Gears of War.

The launch games were pretty crappy. Nothing but hi-res ports really.
However the games since launch have been much better. Only a few are worth dropping the $60 bucks on but compared to how most other systems have started out is it that much worse?
Games worth the money:
1. Oblivion - This game is f*@king awesome. You just don't get much better than this.
2. Ghost Recon - Great single player and multiplayer. Tons of replay value.
3. Fight Night Round 3 - Great visuals and amazing gameplay.
Games on the fence:
1. Battlefield 2 - Awesome multiplayer aspect, but the single player mode sucks @$$.
2. Burnout: Revenge - Great game but really just a high-res port.
3. Rockstar Presents Table Tennis - It's only $39.99 but you really need to like ping pong. Learning curve is pretty high. For me anyway, but I suck at the whole hitting a ball back and forth thing.
4. MLB 2K6 - The pitching and batting interface is the things dreams are made of...however the fielding and baserunning will make you vomit. Only drop the $60 is you just have to have each year's edition of every major sport...like me.
5. PGR3 - The best of the launch titles. Just not my kind of racing game. Still I can appreciate that it's a damn fine piece of work.
6. DOA4 - I haven't played it yet, but it's looks good. I wasn't a massive fan of the DOA series before though, so please use your own opinion.
Games not to drop $60 on:
Everything else.

Table Tennis is in the top 5 list of best sports games ever created. There is an epidemic of addicted gamers growing with this game. Easy enough for even a moron to pick up and play but still challengin enough where if you put time into you, you can be a professional. You wait and see, give it a few months and they will be making professional tournaments for this

I agree it is a cool game. I can see where people can get addicted to it. I wouldn't have paid $60 for the game but $40 is a good price point. Some of the achievements are pretty hard. Beating the Amateur tourney in like 13 minutes is a little harder than it sounds. Best I've done is 15 so far and I smoked all the opponents.

Well Oblivion Is An Amazing Game Despite What Some May Say, but besides that I heard Far Cry and Ghost Recon were good. Not to much else about that system

I am probably buying one for the star trek game coming cuz that looks like its finally good, that and probably PGR3, Oblivian, and maybe COD2, i've never played anything live so this will be new for me. And I am looking forward to the SF 2 HF for Live arcade, but at first I was not impressed with 360s lineup but its shaping out to be good, and I'm glad I'll get one of the newer ones with less problems.
I cover my bases...
1)Xbox w/xecuter 2.6 solderless
2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD
4)GC w/qoob pro

I don't think Madden was unjustly battered by the critics. Typically people don't expect to pay $60 for a football game that is equal in depth as a release from 4 years earlier. I mean, even a 360 fan can admit that last year's madden was all about cutting corners to make a release date.
That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing just how much EA takes advantage of the hardware this year and I'll be glad to see Madden back to it's full depth.
No one here seems to care but I'm really thinking about Moto GP 2006. The demo was sweet. It's a bit technical for many racers I suppose but it looks and plays great. You just can't get much more photo-like for the replays.
Gears of War is the game I can't wait to play. I hope it lives up to the hype.

Gotta love those critics, they sure did disect Madden 2006 inside and out. So a new console gets released and these critics think that every game is supposed to polished up with no gliches, how absurd is that. So when PC releases a game there's never a patch or some type of fix for it, get real.. Ayways, another game that looks pretty intriguing is this NFL Head Coach. Does anyone care to comment about this game.

No offense elusiv1 but as far as I can remember Madden's 1st appearance on the 360 was the first time it has been presented on a console (new or not) totally stripped down compared to previous versions AND other console editions of the game. To expect that it would have features equal to the other consoles (or at least CLOSE) is not expecting too much even if it is on a next gen system. I sure hope people don't give this much slack for all 1st round games on the 360. I understand and agree that 1st generation games won't look their best compared to later games but the CONTENT should be there. With the last Madden the content was not there. Plain and simple...

You make a valid point jaypugh, you'd expect the content to be there on a next gen console, no excuses what so ever....

All the more reason to look forward to this year's madden. :) I'm sure 100% of everything will be there this time. It should be sweet to say the least. My biggest problem every year is trying to decide between an NCAA game or NFL because I like both but don't want to own 2 football games. I really love the option play in college ball. It adds a whole different dimension to the running game. Decisions decisions.... :)

Does anyone ever remember a good line up for any console, that had a variety of games with different genres and target markets? I really can't but the Xbox360, I think it was a bit different, there were different genres of games, all worthwhile in purchasing. I think PGR3 is by far one of the best launch titles ever seen on a console, others being Halo: Combat Elvolved for the Xbox or Mario64 for the Nintendo 64.

I really don't think any console's launch line-up has been stellar. The 360 did get a good variety of titles out by March though. The games just keep getting better too. Of course I that's too be expected. Call of Duty was probably the best launch title in my opinion. Lots of people seem to like PGR though. There are several awesome titles coming out in the next couple of months. July has BFME2, Prey, and NCAA Football 07, and SF2 on XBLA. That's a hell of a lot better than this month which has MotoGP 06. That interests me about as much as having a colonostomy. (That's getting a camera shoved up your @$$ for the kids out there.)
