For some reason when I rip this, it just shows a green screen in dvd shrink. What's going on? Anyone else had problems?

I won't have it until Tuesday - the US release date. So try ripping w/ DVDFab HD Decrypter (free) 1st then open those files in Shrink.

Thanks for your quick response but I think it's my drive. I just replaced my old one with a samsung model and now the new one does the opposite the other one did. The other one would read but not burn and this one will burn but not read. Shucks! One thing after another. I updated the firmware and everything but still the same thing. I tried 2 other movies and got the same thing. On one it recorded green, movie, green, movie throughout the whole thing. Any ideas?

Watch the language hjsn1 - post edited :)
Have you tried using DVDFab 1st to rip? Any other drive in the pc you can rip from?

Sorry about the language. Shucks doesn't exactly express my feelings but it'll do.
I want to use the same program as I did before. I even tried ripping the same movie that I did with the other drive and it did the green stuff too. I don't think it's a software error but a drive error. I think I used dvdfab before though. Does it have a lot of stuff that you can't use unless you buy it?

Yes has options that are only available with the paid version.
But is a good free ripper that is still updated unlike Shrink.
So you need to use an updated tool besides Shrink now a days.
So I would try that 1st and let's go from there.
I figured shucks was better than bleep :)

I agree with Binkie. Try ripping to your HDD with DVDFab and then Shrink it.
Couple of questions though...
What kind of burner is it? Is your firmware the latest version?
Have you tried doing a clean uninstall and re-installing the software?

Samsung burner. I do have the latest firmware. I updated it last night and tried to rip a disc I already ripped before and it didn't work. when I was having the burning issue with my previous burner I formatted and reinstalled windows altogether. I did uninstall ImgBurn last night as well after the firmware update and it still did the same thing...green sections of the movie. shucks.

I got it figured out. It was ImgBurn. I went back to DVD Decrypter and it worked fine on both of my computers.

I've had a problem with Live Free Or Die Hard....I ripped it with HDFab decrypter successfully....I then copied it to a double layer disc...The only problem is that the unrated version has no sound...The theatrical version is just fine..Anyone know why?? I had this same problem with the Number 23 dvd and it too had an unrated version and a theatrical version...I don't see separate files for the 2 different versions..Any help on how I can get sound on the unrated version?????

Region 1 can be done with DVD Decrypter. There's nothing special about this one.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I am also having trouble making a backup of Live Free or Die Hard. I am using DVD Fab HD Decrypter 4.0.1.2. I have a LiteOn DVD writer, model DVDRW DRW 5S163 with the YSG7 firmware. I have enabled PathPal in DVD Fab HD Decrypter but I am still not able to read the contents of the DVD. Somewhere about half way through the read process I receive a message that there has been a read problem and I retry several times with no positive results so I eventually cancel. I have also tried the process with the same version of DVD Fab HD Decrypter on 3 different PCs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated.

Shot in the dark but do you have 'remove DTS audio' checked in DVDFab? If you do that might be why.
Try playing the files from your hard drive to check the audio.
Or open the files in Recode - Recode will show the audios - just click on each on each title listed under main movie (I think it's called).
You can also preview the audio here.
You can burn with Recode too just set the target as DVD-9.

I'm having the same issue.
And the dvd plays fine on my small portable dvd player, but on all my regular dvd players and PS3, no sound on the unrated.

I'm not sure which versions of the program you are using, but if you download dvdfab HD decrypter you should solve alot of your headaches. It sounds like you are using an outdated version of fab, and dvd decrypter (which is no longer supported) and clone dvd does not remove protection by itself.
dvdfab HD decrypter-

So far, the only "fix" I found was to use DVD Shrink, then re-author and only burn the Unrated version. It's over 5gb, so I still had to use a DL disc, but oh well. It worked!
Downside is, you lose the menus and the PG-13 version, but i can live with that.

I used Ripit4me 1.7.1.0 for this movie with menus and had no problems, with my lite-on shm-165h6s. I still like to use Ripit4me, but Anydvd is my backup and the current update is 6.2.0.1 .

When I used Nero recode I was able to get sound on both the theatrical version and the unrated version......but the video quality is compressed to like 56%....But I can't get get sound on both versions with a DL disc which is strange...I had no ripping problems but I have burning problems...Any help would be appreciated...Thanx.
