Wnaspi32.dll was on the system before Nero. I have a lot of equipment and there has never been a fault with interfacing.

I appreciate the information. This is the first time I've run into this situation. It is something I will definitely attend to. I am wondering if this may have something to do with a different problem I have just developed. Well that is for another thread. Thanks again.

Then it probably is in use, reboot and see if that messagge stops. You can also hit control+alt+Delete and see if its running in the background.

Did as suggested. Nero reads green for Nero and System. Didn't help or hurt anything. At least now when someone suggests I check ASPI, I can say it's done already. I realize there are a number of software programs and drives that need ASPI. So this may well avert possible future problems.

Long time no see. It will help you, it might improve your ripping, and burning. Nero's aspi is limited but the one you just installed insures that everything is covered. How has your efforts with DVD-RB/CCE coming?

Hey guys, I'm having problems when running DVD Shrink, maybe you can help me out. These guys seem to have problems with their computer freezing up. My computer just reboots, any difference between these?

Sometimes it gets through the encoding and starts burning and other times it restarts during the encoding.

If it was just overheating during the encoding I'd suspect an over heated CPU. Encoding is very CPU intensive. Does it reboot more when encoding or burning and at what point?

I usually leave the room. I'll have to try it again and make sure I'm watching as its running. Its usually 50/50. Sometimes it will get into the burning process and sometimes it reboots within 5 min. of me opening DVD Shrink.

Also, someone told me that I could be running low on virtual memory??? I'm not sure, you could call me a newb when it comes to knowing all about computers.

Inadequate virtual memory can be a big concern, it's a relationship between your hard disk and main memory, if your hard disk can't supply adequate virtual memory (paging file) then your main memory could be overrun and and the processes that require them could stop working.

If you need to work that out give me a buzz.

Hi Matt84. Sophocles's the one that taught me about VM as it relates to crunching video files, and so I'll jump in here.

Go to the Control Panel >> System >> Advanced >> Performance Options. You will find the page file options. Make a note of what the settings are so you can post them. A 4000 MB setting should be adequate, and set this to both min and max values.

Here are a couple of utilities that you can use to check CPU temp. The first is a real-time motherboard monitor. The second utility is a good stability test for your CPU.

Here is a Windows utility I find extremely helpful. It gives you real-time monitoring of CPU and memory usage. Do Ctrl-Alt-Del >> Task Manager >> Performance. When you encode with Shrink, you should see 100% CPU most of the time. If it begins to drop, you are likely seeing a temp problem. BTW, burning is usually no more that 15%.

Rebooting could also be the result of a bad memory module, or the way the system is managing RAM memory. Here is one of the utilities you can use to check this:

The total paging for all drives is 1536 MB. 1536 is the initial and 3072 is the Maximum size. I'm new to this so I don't know if thats good enough or not.

Once you've reset your swap/paging file you should start deleting worthless files, such as the internet files that Internet Exporer stores and those still in your recycle bin. Then defragment your hard disk and report back.

Ok, I'm just making sure I understand this right so I don't mess up my computer. I'm switching the min and the max both to 4000 MB? Then deleting worthless internet files and finally defragging the hard drive?

Hi Matt84...

Since you decided to start a new thread with the exact same problem, I'll post any further advice I might have over there, OK?

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/96561

This is called double posting, and against the rules here at AD.

The mods do frown upon double posting because you are pulling members in two directions at once for the same cause.

Yea, I'm sorry about that. I'm just really concerned about messing with the computer so I was looking for more of a broader response. I thought different people posted in different forum topics. I'm sorry if I made anyone mad.

I'll try what you said and then I'll post back in the other thread.

Thanks.
