I have a psp with firmware 2.71. I was wondering what you had to do to make the .iso's work? If the downgrading and then upgrading worked and if there are reasons not to do it that way? Could someone help me out. Please!!!!!

u can use UMDGen(search it in dl.qj.net or google)to putt the files in as ISO!!!!!by umdgen make an iso with PSP GAME & UMD_DATA.BIN togather(i meant PSP GAME & UMD_DATA.BIN file/folders should be inside the iso)!!!!i thing got me and wish this will work good luck!!!!!(at least it worked for me)!!!

my psp life-1.5>(from demo UMD)2.00>2.01>2.5>2.6>2.7>2.71>2.8>1.5>3.02OE-A>OE-B>3.03OE-A>OE-A`>OE-B>3.03OE-C>3.10OE-A>A`>3.52 M33>3.71 M33-2 oh yeah coool!!!!

.cso is a compressed .iso
.dax is another form of compression

but the most supported formats are .cso and .iso

there is no other step after .cso

thank you ^^^^^

and of course i have another question:

i have GTA: liberty City Stories saved to my desktop. (when i click on it , it opens up WinRAR and has: PSP_GAME and UMD_DATA.BIN) i opened UMDgen and dragged the whole GTA folder into it- i put it in that big open white space that says 'no items to show'. I then went to file, save, then saved it as .iso, the only thing it would let me save it as. I saved it to the desk top...it showed up as the WinRAR icon (the thing with the books) i clicked on it, and...BEHOLD!!! i was back to square one, :( (i think i was anyway). when i clicked on it all it brang up was the PSP_GAME folder and that UMD_DATA.BIN thing...

so, anyone no whats goin on here?

ps: i know you know what to do BlkMagic1, my best friend

it should be in X:\ISO\

then it should show up

the file you dragged, was the extension .iso or .rar?

it should be the .iso (it will still have the WinRAR icon though)

if ur not sure, turn show extensions on.

i am going to exchange my psp for another one because it has a lot of screwed up pixels, so my question is, should i downgrade or something so that i am back to 1.5? or is there nothing wrong with have teh custom firmware?! i dont know...and if it is illegal or something (i have no idea...) how risky is it downgrading back to 1.5?

downgrading back should be easy, it's not persay illegal, butttt *shrug*

might as well try for something that u can put the CF back on, imo it's better then 1.5 (never thought i'd say that.....)

using the recovery folder to get to 1.5 then if u want upgrade it to something else, or leave it at 1.5

there's a thread called Recover folder

it should have a link to what u need.
