Hey my M3 Real is on the way and I was wondering what is it like trying to do Wifi connection with DS games through the system. Does it supply you with a friend code? Can you even use Wifi with roms?

It is possible, but not very practical or cheap, you would need the M3 Real and a Slot-2 M3 Perfect (such as the M3 miniSD Perfect), unfortunately the normal GBA Expansion for the M3 Real is only available for the DS Lite.
You might be able to find the the EZFlash 3-1 for the original DS if your desperate for a Slot-1 to Slot-2 GBA card.
To be honest for GBA games your probably best just having a separate GBA cart for the original DS as pretty much any Slot-1 to Slot2 GBA card is for the DS lite. Although I have a DS lite I do have an Elink and an EFA-Linker for my GBA Micro and both work very well for GBA games, each one can hold between 3 and 10 games.
(also the edit button is the top-right of your posts)

Using WiFi games are no different to using the original cart, Friend codes etc. work just fine. (NOTE: Do not post any friend codes in this thread or this forum, ta)

I have another question.

I bought the M3 Real pack that just comes with the M3 Real Slot 1 card and the slot 2 rumble device. What am I missing out on by not having the gba expansion from the perfect bundle? Basically I'm worried that if I don't have the GBA expansion, I won't be able to save on any of my ds roms that I will play. Do I just need DS RAM for using the opera browser?

If I wanted to, could I just buy something like the EZFlash 3-in-1 Expansion Pack
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2967
and use it as if it were the gba pack that would come with the perfect bundle?

Sorry if this seems stupid, but I think I have a faulty M3 DS Real. I have downloaded the v2.8 loader from the M3 site, and unzipped the folder. I put the SYSTEM folder as instructed into the root of the micro SD card (1gb Kingston), and I inserted it into the flashcart. I then put it in my DS. It just says "Please insert DS card". What am I doing wrong? I formatted it into FAT32 the first time, but after reading the back, it said standard FAT system. So now I formatted it back into FAT. Why's it not reading the card right?
I think we're having the same problem...per my post here. Have you tried re-seating the card (multiple times), powering the DS off and on inbetween? It takes me something like 30 tries to get it to work. I also formatted FAT32 (per Mr Hanky's guide here) and I think I have Kingston memory (I don't want to take it out because I'm afraid it won't work when I put it back!). Anyone have any thoughts?
Hi Guys, tried the multiple switching on/off and re-inserting but with still no luck. Updated to latest system files (v2.9) but still the same! :-(
Over the next couple of days, I'm going to try the M3 Simply in the DS-Lite in question - I'll let you know how that goes. It won't give me the extra large micro-SD support, but at least I'll have 2GB to work with for that particular DS-Lite.

I am confused to which one to buy and were to buy it from that ships to the UK I would be very happy if someone could reply asap!

Thank You.

hi,

just bought one of these things and its good so far, the only prob is that when i go to put new games in my 'nds' file on my 2gb microsd card it wont let me, it says its 'write protected'. same goes for when i try to format the card.

anyone else had this problem?

i appreciate this isn't a problem with the m3dsreal itself but help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using a MicroSD to SD adapter? if so check the little switch on the adapter, these are write protection switches, try moving the switch to the other position and trying again.

Do all brand Micro SDHC Memory cards work with the M3 Real?

My assumption would be yes, but I have never checked this.

I can confirm that a SanDisk MicroSDHC 6GB Class 4 card works fine as that's the card I use.

Ok thanks, would you recommend I get the M3 DS Real over the R4 and the M3 Simply?

Yes I would recommend it over the R4/M3DSS. My M3 DS Simply has not been touched since receiving my M3 Real. The only downside to the Real over the R4/M3DSS is the GUI is alot slower but I consider it a small price for the added features, nice look and of course SDHC support. (And the speed of the GUI could be improved in future firmware updates)

GUI stands for Graphical User Interface (basically the menus etc.)

I have never used modchipfitters.com

I bought my M3 Real from www.addictsupplies.com for £32.99 + £2.49 postage, arrived two days later (Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded). Also have very good customer service. The M3 Real perfect bundle is currently out of stock there but the home page says they're expecting more sometime next week.

Mr hanky,

Is your card a Sandisk a japanese card? I wondering if the issue still exist with Castlevania as it relates to the M3 Simply device.

I usually stick with Kingston as I can get them locally and confirm that they are Japanese manufactured. I have gotten burned with mail order Kingstons getting cards made in Taiwan or elsewhere.

I's the orgin not an issue with class 6? Hopefully 4GB and 6GB cards will drop in price now that Sandisk has announced there 12Gig micro card!

AFAIK my card is not a Japanese card, I just bought any card as I had my 1GB Kingston to fall back on should it not work. I have not seen anyone complaining that Castlevania does not work but I have not tested it myself (completed both games on my Simply ages ago).

I do have both Castlevania games on my Real so I will load up POR and do some testing. Just got to finish the level i'm at on Super Mario World first :P

UPDATE: Just spent a few minutes testing Castlevania:POR trying all the usual ways to freeze the game - goign in and out of the ghost room repeatedly, teleporting to a from worlds, pausing/unpausing etc.
Also no slowdown during the intro video.

For DS-only operation you only need the M3 Real, this includes DS games/homebrew, music, videos and pictures.

Things like SD cards I prefer to buy from reputable companies with warranties etc.

To use the in-built emulators you need the GBA expansion, but there are plenty of DS mode emulators you can download. I don't use emulators on my DS as I have a PSP for that so you'll have to do some research into what emulators are the best.

Hi,

Up until now I have been using an M3 DS Simply which has been fine for purposes. However the 2Gb card was getting full, so I have invested in an M3 DS Real with a 4Gb card (formatted to FAT32).

I have followed the setup (thanks for that Mr Hanky) but am having problems. All .nds files are in the NDS folder, but when I choose this from the main menu all I get is a blank file list screen with 'Loading' displayed in the middle. I have left it for 10 minutes with no results. There are currently only 67 files in the NDS folder, 30 of which are .sav files.

I have tried system files 2.7d and 2.9 and both have the same problem.

Am I doing something stupid, or do you think there is something wrong?

Any help or ideas would be most appreciated.
