I had this happen with my GBA folder once, not sure what caused it, but I simply backed up my card, formatted it, put everything back on and it worked fine.

I've gotten that behaviour three times so far myself.

As mr_hanky said, just by pulling your saves and roms off the SD card, formatting, and putting them back will clear it.

IIRC, I fixed it without having to actually format it--just copy off, erase, and re-copy.

Yes I have tested this (once) and it does work, but it does have some flaws (or it could just be how I used it). The GBA cheats don't use a single list of cheats for every game in a single file (like the DS cheats), but instead has a separate file for each GBA game, this on it's own not a huge problem, but I found if I put them all in the same folder the M3 would crash when I tried to access the folder, so you have to either split the cheat files into a few folders or only copy over the cheats for the games you want. Another problem is that the GBA cheat system does not detect the game your using, so you have to either rename the cheats files so you know what one to choose or know the scene release number for each game (which was a problem for me as I rename games to not have them)
HOWEVER after these problems the cheats I tried worked perfectly and were easy to use in-game.
How did you make the cheat file for the GBA games? I've got this working for DS games but for the life of me I can't get my gba cheats to enable, I can get them to display but nothing happens when I tried to enable them. Any suggestions??

Thanks

I haven't actually used any cheats since that post. I have no idea how to make the GBA cheats files as I simply downloaded a rar file from the M3 website which was full of them.

I just did a quick test with two games, Metal Slug and Bomberman tournament. I chose Metal Slug as it refused to use RTS when I was playing last week (no menu appeared) and as I predicted the cheats did not work with it (cheat menu did not appear). Bomberman however worked fine, the game loaded and the cheat menu appeared before the game started, i tried a few cheats and it worked fine.

Is there a particular game that does not work for you or is it all of them?

First things first, excellent guide mr_hanky - if not the best on the web.

Secondly what kind of cheat engine does the GBA emulator onboard the M3 DS Real use?
Also, are there any codes for Pokemon Emerald/Leaf Green for it?

Don't capitalize the "C" in chaotic unless you want me to kick you in the fucking balls.

I'm not sure what cheat engine is used, but it looks the same as the one used by the old slot-2 M3s, which i believe is either Dipstar or Goldfinger cheats.

There are some codes for Pokemon Emerald and Leaf Green however I do not have my M3 available to check what they are. looking at the file for Emerald it looks like there are codes such as no random encounters and infinite money. Lots of it is unreadable so i'm guessing some cheats may have japanese or chinese descriptions (which I have seen with at least one other cheats file) but as i don't have those fonts installed on my computer I cannot be sure without my M3.

They're the cheats that I've tried, Pokemon Emerald and Firered. The wording doesn't seem to make sense so you don't really know what the cheat is meant to do, plus the cheats provided aren't very useful. That's why I want to know how to put other codes into a file and get them to work.

I'm afraid I don't know how to create the GBA cheats, I normally don't use cheats so have never needed to research it, my only suggestion if you must have GBA cheats on the Real is to go googling (maybe see if there's anything related to the slot-2 M3 cheats as I think they use the same files)

As a last resort I think you can apply gameshark cheats using an emulator such as Visualboy Advance on your PC and then copy the save file over, but of course it does mean you can't use cheats while away from a PC.

Well, was about to take a 4lb lump hammer to the thing after numerous reformats, copies, deletes, copies etc when it has decided to work (albeit a bit slower than the Simply does). Even the save games work after renaming them from .sav's to .0's.

Thanks for the tips.

Just one last thing. Is it possible to list the games without the icon like the Simply does? It seems a bit silly that you can only display 4 games at a time in the list . . . . . . .
Is there an address for submissions to the developers for future versions of firmware?

I'm trying to find the same thing, no success yet...

There is no way to change the method of displaying games at this time, other people have already emailed the M3 team about this but I am unsure if they received a reply.

It does seem a bit of a waste when the top screen is not used, the M3 team could easily do a similar setup to the R4 with a list of games and then the information for the currently selected game to be shown on the second screen, don't know why they chose not to.

I would prefer the setup to be reversed from the R4 setup though, so the list of games appears on the bottom screen and game details on the top screen, that way you keep the touch screen support when browsing through the games.

Avoid Divineo. Six weeks to ship mine. I received it last week. No package or CD with it either. Neither of which I need but six weeks is just ridiculous.

I've tried copying over the save file but the flash cart doesn't recognise it. Do I have to rename the .sav file or anything?

Thanks again mr_hanky you are the epitome of awesomeness.

3 questions for the Real:

Does anyone know where I can get just the GBA expansion? I bought the DS real with the rumble pack only and it's pretty worthless.

Where can I get a video converter for the real? I tried the one from their website and I tried every video format imaginable. It told me that each one was not supported.

Does anyone have a link to information on emulation for other systems compatible with the Real (Genesis, SNES, etc) ??

Im so sorry to have to ask but where am i putting my NDS folder? People have said the root menu but I'm not sure where that is. I have made a NDS folder in the system folder and when i go to find my games they aren't where they should be. They only list one at a time in the game section after i find them i cant get them all to list where they should. Is it because i have a Mac? I have read the guide many times and have done what its said to do but this keeps happening. I hope someone can help me out and im sorry to ask such a silly question.

You shouldn't put it IN the system folder. It should be in the same area as the system folder. The basic level of a disk of memory chip is known as "Root" and directories created in "Root" are sub directories. So the "System" folder is a subdirectory of Root. So the "NDS" folder will be also be a subdirectory of Root.
So at the end you should see 2 folders. System and NDS. Good luck.

The 'nds' folder must in the same place as the system folder

the 'root menu' is the first thing you see when you open your SD card

ill put up a pic in a minute

Edit: like this

Im lost!!! I've just purchased a DS and a few days ago purchased a M3 DS Real Adapter. Now , I've managed to find a 'Loader v2.9' and put the 'SYSTEM' folder into the root. I've made a 'NDS' folder and dragged and dropped .nds files into this. When I insert the Sandisk card into the M3 DS Real adapter and put this into the DS I turn the power on. I get nothing...just a 'There is no DS card inserted' greeting!?! I've tried putting the game's straight to the root also but this comes up with the same result.

Original games work ok but this card just isn't reading at all. Would it be the fact that I'm using a Sandisk SD card? I've sent off for a Kingston one to see if this works....

Thank you for getting back to me. SO this IS how i set up my file folder, but the roms arent going to the right place. When i click on the icon where they should be it says no file, then i have to click on the tiny folder in the left hand corner of the screen and go into the NDS folder and pick a game that way. Anyone know why? This is getting to be so upsetting and im sure it just something im missing. If anyone knows what im doing wrong please write back.

I emailed the supplier last night to say that I have a faulty M3 DS Real card. They were good enough to phone me this morning to say that they are having problems with a batch they recieved. They gave me the option of sending it back to them for a full refund - which I will do. Just for interest is there anyone here who have recently bought one of these adapters and if so are they working? Also I'm after another card but not too sure what to get. Any suggestions?
