YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR 360 MODDED TO AT LEAST iXTREME 1.6 (1.51 FOR HITACHI DRIVES) TO PLAY ALL OF THE LATEST GAMES!!!
STEALTH PATCH YOUR GAMES FIRST!!!-
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/732074
So you want to burn a 360 game. Follow these directions and you will have 100% success rate*.
Here is what you need-
1. ImgBurn ( http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download ).
2. A Dual-Layer DVD Writer (must be able to write DVD+R DL).
3. High Quality DVD+R DL discs (Verbatim DVD+R DL that are Made in Singapore are the most recommended. Memorex or other cheapies are not.) You MUST use DVD+R DL, NOT DVD-R DL.
4. The .iso and .dvd file of the game. If you get a .000 file instead then that is fine. The .dvd file contains the layer-break info for the .iso (or .000). Read this to find out how to backup your original games. http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Fo...iewtopic&t=1191
5. A modded 360. Be sure to have the latest iXtreme (1.61/LiteTouch right now- 1.51 for Hitachi drives). All of the latest games are Wave 3/4/5/6. If you attempt to play a Wave 3/4/5/6 title on iXtreme that is lower than 1.51 then you will get a Play DVD error.
OK now follow these steps-
1) Download and install ImgBurn if you don't already have it.
2) Have your .iso and .dvd file ready in your desktop or inside a folder. They must be together.
3) Insert your blank DVD+R DL disc into your DVD Writer.
4) Start up ImgBurn.
5) Click "Write image file to disc".
6) In the lower-right hand corner where it says "Settings", make sure the write speed is set to 2.4X.
7) Where it says "Destination", make sure your DVD Writer is selected.
8) Now where it says "Source", click the folder with the magnifying glass. Now go to your .dvd file and double-click it.
9) Select the big button below "Destination" to start burning.
10) Now tick the boxes that says "Eject disc" and "Close Program".
11) Finally, let ImgBurn burn the game. Don't do anything else on your computer. Just go watch some TV. When your DVD tray ejects, the burn has finished.
12) Test it out on your 360.
And that's it! You just have burned a 360 game to play on your modded 360.

For 'what you need' 4. - you should make an idiot proof guide of that as well. There's no point having an idiot proof guide that directs you to a non-idiot proof guide.

The .dvd file already contains the layer-break.
@shweet-
I might work on simplifying the backing up 360 games tutorial soon.
Edit: Ok well I checked the stickies and there is no "How to backup a 360 game", only "How to backup a backup". Strange I thought I saw it there somewhere. I will link to a guide then.

Try updating your drive's firmware. What brand of discs are you using?

yep this is how people over-complicate things... cause its so simple people seem to want it to be more difficult ...

Are you using an SATA burner and nVidia onboard SATA port? If so, imgburn does not play nice with the newest nForce SATA drivers. This is a known problem with nVidia drivers. I think the newest nforce is 15.xx. I was getting the i/o error and voltage fault error on DVD and BD burns, never finalized the discs. Those make for expensive coasters. I started using the SATA prot on my VIA card and problem solved. ---Chikn

I'm a noob. When I launched Imgburn, I see this drive: "TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653A". I see a lot of threads saying that in order to burn a usable backup disk, I need to change the book type to DVD-ROM. Is this really necessary here? I don't see it mentioned in this tutorial. Thanks.

It's not necessary but if your drive has the ability to book-type then do so. I don't and my backups run fine.

If the .dvd file isn't supplied, is there a way to find out where to put the layer break?

Oh dude I was about to yell my lungs off at you lol. Internet yelling- serious business.
Anyways that site is a pretty no-name site so I don't care. My name should be mentioned somewhere though... Oh well.

I've followed your directions step-by-step, and technically my games are booting up and starting. However, during cinematics and cutscenes, they seem to stutter and temporary freeze. Also, I use verbatims discs. What might be causing this to happen? This has happened to several of my backups lately, all different games too.

Are you sure you are using Made in Singapore Verbatim discs? If so then your 360's laser may need cleaning.

Well after googling the error it seems to be a media issue (brand of discs).
Either that or get a new DVD writer. Any new DL writer that can write DVD+R DL discs will do.
