oh and i forgot to ask, what about the layerbreak thing?? i read in another guide u have to choose "change book tyoe" and a drive brand (the choice of my "matshita drive is not available) on imgburn then put in some "layerbreak code"??
1. DVD+R DL will work for your drive.
2. You don't have to book-type. The .dvd file will contain the layer-break info.
Quoted myself since people cannot read.
You DO NOT have to book-type. I did not include it in my guide because....YOU DO NOT have to book-type.
Again, you DO NOT have to book-type. Do you have to book-type? No. Negative. Nope.

I've been searching all over but haven't found the solution yet. Hope you guys will help. I have a Philips DVD+RW DVD8601 6D11 (ATA) with DL writing capabilities. I'm using the latest imgburn 2.4.4 and Verbatim dl dvd discs. I've followed the burning instructions exactly as specified on the guide and checked the layer break every time. There are no new updates for my drive and I've had my pc (and drive) since 2003. The drive brand isn't listed on the booktype settings of imgburn either. I've tried burning a couple of games 3 times (@ 2.4x, have both the .iso and .dvd files) I've even checked them with abgx360 and no issues there either. I get no error messages while burning the dvds. However, every time I try to play it I get the 'Disc read error' message. I had my 360 flahsed (no mod chip) and the guy even gave me a burned copy of Call Of Duty 4 (which works perfect). What am I doing wrong? Is a new dvd drive the answer? Thanks in advance.

Also the Verbatim dvds I have are made in Singapore and the Call Of Duty 4 copy is on a TDK disc.

Yeah it seems that you will need a new DVD burner.

Just wanting to ask if any type of different FW needs to be applied to a new DVD burner that will do DVD+R DL for the 360 games. I have a Pioneer 112d that was flashed with FW to be able to burn 360 games and the drive is starting to crap out. I didn't want to buy a burner off newegg and have it not work because of FW that is not compatible. Also would the new burner need to be able to just do DVD+R DL or can it also have the DVD-R DL feature along with DVD+R DL and still be okay?

You will not need to flash in any special firmware. Any new drive that can burn DVD+R DL will do.

Did you burn using the .dvd file? Did you set the layer-break manually? Can your DVD burner write DVD+R DL?

OK so apparently you do not know what you are doing. Run the .iso through ABGX and it will create a .dvd file for you. You can set the layer-break in the ImgBurn settings but just run the .iso through ABGX anyways. There's a tutorial in my sig.

I'm a newbie to everything and will be taking the plunge in a few weeks. but trying to put in the work first. NDarkness, you say you need a Samsung dvd dl burner & dvd rom drive to be flashed with rhe program that you linked on the page. My question is simple, does it have to be a Samsung Drive or will any dvd rom drive do? Thanks for listening!!

You only need the Samsung drive flashed with Kreon firmware if you are ripping original 360 game discs. If you are just burning .isos then you can just use any drive that can write DVD+R DL.

I got my new dvd drive last night and now all the games I've burned so far work great. In case anyone else is having the same issues I was and are looking for a new dvd drive, the drive I got is an LG GH22LP20. Got it for $30 from Amazon in just 2 days. Thank you NDarkness for your response :D

If the game does not have the necessary stealth files then there will be a higher chance of being banned from Live. The game might not even boot up on the iXtreme firmware.

I followed this guide to the very letter and ended up with being unable to finalize the disk. It kept retrying and failing to finalize a disk and I have no idea why.

Thanks mate, will do. Do I burn the ISO file or .dvd file on the CloneCD program? On imgburn it was the .dvd file that needed to be burned, what is it on this one?
Thanks.
