LOCOENG,

Russ, yours is a tad too big too.

I've been over all of this before with ddp months ago, and I didn't get into a snit about it! I simply pointed out the how many lines you see on screen depends on the resolution you are running. I see two full lines, and about 1/8 of a line of text on the third line at 1680x1050. I have no idea how many other people see as it depends on their resolution! The Avitar is under the limit in size as well as kbs!

I wasn't even aware that there was any remaining issue as this is the first I've heard anything since I discussed it with ddp!

Respectfully,
Russ

I don't think the snit comment was aimed at you Russ.

EDIT: Not to beat a dead horse I could really care less...this is one of my least favorite threads at AD as it is hence why I rarely come here and when I do I'm usually forced to say something to someone....but neither here nor there.

Russ, what I see here (at work) is 4 lines of text, a pic and then another line of text at the bottom. At home, when I made my original post, I saw 3 lines of text, a pic and then another line at the bottom.

You say...2 lines of text and 1/8th of another line and a pic...you don't point out the Moody Blues quote below your pic (pssst, that makes four lines of text). I could really care less. None of you will have to worry about me in this thread any more so do as you wish until someone hits the report button...it seems everyone here lives by their own rules anyway.

I didn't know for sure who he was talking about. I only discovered the difference in screen resolution as to the amount of lines show by accident! I went on the other computer and looked! LOL!! It still didn't dawn on me why, right away until I counted the lines

Some Forums have a character limit and cuts you off if you try to exceed it! That would make more sense to me, as I can see if I followed the rules to the letter my sig would look huge at 1024x768! with about 6 or 7 lines of text! Limiting the amount of characters allowed would treat everbody equally no matter what the resolution. I'm on a 21" Widescreen, and at 1680x1050, all I know is what I can see! I'm sure Sam's monitor with it's higher resolution only shows two lines of text, and the second line isn't full! Someone with a 1024x768 monitor would likely see 5 lines! It's a problem that having a character limit would solve!

You say...2 lines of text and 1/8th of another line and a pic...you don't point out the Moody Blues quote below your pic (pssst, that makes four lines of text)

I took that it meant lines in total! It never dawned on me at the time! It's fixed!

Best Regards,
Russ

I would be! My temps don't get that high when running Linpack and thats with a 3.4Ghz Overclock and Linkpack stresses the CPU MORE than Prime95.

That's pretty good. I'm using a Tuniq Tower. I don't know which one is better. I'm also using a Q6600 at 1.45v so it's giving off more heat than your CPU.

Did you put on a lot of thermal paste? Also are you sure it's on there tight enough?

you need to change the TJ Max in coretemp to 95c. it will show it as 105c if you don't.

click on options, then settings. type in -10 after Tjunction Max Offset.

Adjusting it spreads it out so it's not too bad. Only thing I can think of is that maybe you put down TOO much thermal paste(unlikely) or that you just got a hot CPU. Your saving grace is that you should be able to OC it considerably on stock voltages and see little temp increase.

Oh and I just checked. The Tuniq Tower is a bit better. So that may be why I get better temps. Have you tried turning up the fan speed. I run mine at full speed and it's not that loud.

i am running at full fan speed right now with case fans turned up. with my old cpu i ran all on low and it idled around 30.

TJmax is the highest temperature the cores should be. No one really knows what the real TJMax is, they are all estimates.
