cut it down to $18.78 shipping. still $13.74 more than newegg. thanks for looking out for me tho. I went ahead and ordered the case and p/s from the egg. $59.98 after MIR's. like I said earlier, this will be leaps and bounds above his piece of crap Dell even if I do decide to go with the 8mb cache hdd.

If you order the CPU cooler from SVC...Your going to need a front fan for that Case...Get the fan at SVC...I buy almost all my fans from them because of price...the extra shipping will be next to nothing...
I always scan their site for little parts...wiring...The extra parts will add nothing to shipping...The Super Saver...Saves a bunch...Its always worth it in most cases...

yeah, I've got a spare oem CM 120mm fan I intend on putting in the front. I'll probably hold off on the zalman 7000 for now. it can be easily installed at a later date.
BTW do you think there would be a noticable difference between the 8mb cache hdd and the 16mb hdd with this intel 2.8ghz 533 fsb cpu and DDR 400 ram?

I just didn't like the reviews I was seeing...on that HD...and then...factor in the older design...to me makes it not worth it...
The 16Mb is just newer...it will be faster...and definitely more future proof...to me the 320 was the best deal...
The case from Newegg was the best deal...and it will be even better with the 500 P/S...
Let me ask you this...
Have you ever looked back on a purchase and said...I wish I had Saved the $ and bought the cheaper one...
Now how many times you have wished you had bought the better...more expensive one...
Man...I am tempted on that EVO...I have a box of 10 Cooler Master 120mm just sitting here chanting...EVO...EVO...EVO...I have asked them to knock it Off...They just Chant Louder..:D

nice case but they're really jacking you on the shipping. $33.65 and that is super saver shipping.
if the hdd was for me, using other state of the art components, the decission would be easy. why put a borg warner 4 speed rock crusher behind a little stock inline 4 banger, ya know! :)

Its the distance and Weight that is the difference...SVC charges what ever it costs them for shipping...and the EVO weights a ton...What Irks me about Newegg...No break for use in California on shipping...or additional items...plus I get nailed with the state sales tax...
Evo from SVC...
$204.25 after rebate with ship & tax...
EVO from Newegg...
$278.84 with free ship after tax...
I'm tempted...

yeah, I know. DocTY has the same complaint with newegg regarding sales tax. he tries to buy out of state.
no sales tax for me at newegg and I usually opt for the items with free shipping unless it's something I've just got to have and right now.
I also like Zip Zoom Fly since most of their stuff is free shipping but you gotta watch to be sure they didn't jack up the price to make up for shipping costs.
newegg isn't automatically who I choose to buy from. I always shop around.
that was a good find on the zalman cnps7000 at SVC. nobody else that I could find was even close.

Just finished switching cases. DANG you Mort81. CompUSA had the Cooler Master Elite 330 case on sale for $45 plus a $20 MIR. With tax and all it will cost me $28 bucks to go from a POS to a decent little low dollar case. Thanks for the headsup. :D
I added an Antec TriCool to the front of the case cause I already had it and I'm curious to see if my temps go down if at all. :)
I also stuck a couple of new SATA dvd drives in there just to see how that's gonna fly too. LOL.
YOU PEOPLE ARE A BAD INFLUENCE!!! hehehe. Well according to my wife you are. :P

What do you guys think about this? I think that Mort81 already asked but I'm surrounded by 3 kiddies and only got 3 hours of sleep last night. :)

you picked up the same case as I did for my buddies build, only you managed to get it for a couple dollars less and also yes that's the same p/s I went with except you found it for $10 less. you dog :) I hope it doesn't turn out to be a piece of junk since it is so dirt cheap, money wise.

Good Find...$19 for a Cooler Master 500 P/S...Hard to beat...I might just pick one up...
I know I asked this Question Earlier...but I keep seeing conflicting reports...
I have the GA-965P-S3...I believe it is rev1...does not say on box...and I did not buy it...It was a gift...
Does it support 1333FSB...with a Bios update?..
This is from Gigabytes site...

Does anyone know first hand...if this is the case?..

The Enermax Chakra isn't to my taste, but meh, cases are a personal choice anyway, I love how they claim the 25cm side fan is 'patented', what the actual fan they use is patented? Unless it's their Enlobal marathon design (in which case it'll be rubbish) it'll probably not be produced by anyone who has anything to do with Enermax...

I could have sworn I answered that the other day! No, your GigaByte doesn't support a 1333 fsb! It won't recognize any 1333 CPUs, either Quad or C2D! It's not that they will run slower, they just won't run at all! Some 965 motherboards can just change the bios, but your's isn't one of them!
http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Motherboa...?ProductID=2382
No 1333 support!

I did it. I'm gonna pull out the P/S in the case I have now and go with the CM 500. I think that I have enough parts laying around now to build a low end internet beater and make a friend happy with a CHEAP little puter. :)

Yes...You answered it once...
I see that I am beginning to Irritate you..:)
Best regards...LOL...
Thats definitely not my intentions..:p
I was just asking again...since it is definitely unclear on Gigabytes site...and their statement on the matter are so vague...they are saying that the rev3 of my board definitely does...and in the next paragraph say some rev1's do...but they don't say specifically what boards they are talking about...in that statement...
Quote: Gigabyte Site:
The Benefits of the GIGABYTE rev 3.3 Motherboards
Recently, GIGABYTE launched the newly designed rev 3.3 Intel P965-based motherboards. Not only are they the first motherboards on the market to feature native support for 1333MHz FSB, but GIGABYTE has equipped them with several industry leading features that truly make them stand out from the competition. So let's take a closer look at what makes the GIGABYTE rev 3. 3 motherboards tick.
GIGABYTE rev 3.3 Motherboards Supporting 1333MHZ FSB
Model Name
GA-965P-DQ6(rev. 3.3)
GA-965P-DS4(rev. 3.3)
GA-965P-DS3P(rev. 3.3)
GA-965P-DS3(rev. 3.3)
GA-965P-S3(rev. 3.3)
Native Support for 1333MHz FSB
The main feature that GIGABYTE rev 3.3 motherboards provide is that they offer support for the next generation 1333 FSB Intel Core? 2 Duo processors. As 1333MHz FSB is natively supported, no overclocking is need to unlock the performance benefits of these new processors.
While not available on the market quite yet, Intel's next gen Core? 2 Duo processors are set to be an overclockers very best friend, with some pretty impressive performance numbers. While I would love to show you guys the benchmarks, for now, you will just have to take my word.
While most of the GIGABYTE P965 rev 1.0 / 2.0 boards are also capable of supporting 1333MHz FSB through the latest BIOS update, GIGABYTE has made some hardware enhancements that squeeze maximum performance out of these next generation processors. To start, GIGABYTE has optimized the FSB routing design to improve signal quality for not only 1333MHz FSB CPUs, but for Intel quad-core processors as well. By widening the FSB trace routing, FSB impedance has been reduced from 50 ohms to 42 ohms. This impedance means there is less resistance for the electrical signal to travel between the CPU and the FSB, increasing the speed at which the signal travels and improving signal quality.
The GIGABYTE rev 3.3 P965 Series motherboards also feature flexible memory support options in the BIOS, greatly extending the overclocking potential of the boards, especially when using a 1333MHz FSB processor. With memory multiplier settings including x2.0, x2.5, x3.33 and x4.0, users who overclock will be able to see a marked improvement in memory performance, with even slight overclocking reaching a more than 5% increase in performance.
I have seen it stated...both ways...in other forums...as to whether it does...or does not...if your 100% sure...I will take your word...
I was just wondering if you knew what the change was?..that made Rev3 support it while rev1 does not...

That's answered here:
To start, GIGABYTE has optimized the FSB routing design to improve signal quality for not only 1333MHz FSB CPUs, but for Intel quad-core processors as well. By widening the FSB trace routing, FSB impedance has been reduced from 50 ohms to 42 ohms. This impedance means there is less resistance for the electrical signal to travel between the CPU and the FSB, increasing the speed at which the signal travels and improving signal quality.
From what I'm reading here, they have re routed the path between the cpu and fsb to make it more efficient(IE:shortened the distance of the path travelled)and used wider copper track to reduce resistance between the CPU and the FSB(from 50 to 42 ohms as stated).
Less resistance = more speed.Like pouring 1 gallon of water through a
1 inch pipe. Then pouring 1 gallon of water through a 2 inch pipe. The 2 inch pipe will allow the 1 gallon of water to empty quicker because there is less restriction for the water flowing through it.Same as using wider copper on the pcb copper traces. There is less resistance(impedance) for the current flowing through the copper traces so it can travel faster.

Lp531,
I wasn't getting irritated, I just forget sometimes! Old Age!!! LOL!!
Aparently some GigaByte motherboards lack the hardware to run the 1333 chips. Those are the ones that you can't use them in, at all!
If you opened up the GigaByte link I sent and checked compatibility there is no support listed for anything with a 1333 fsb with your MB!

Thanks Crowy...Your explanation was much more detailed then the answer that I had just found linked below...
http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4507
Quote: What did you do to get native 1333FSB support on your 965P revision 3.3 boards?
So far only 975X can support 1333FSB. We tried unlocking 1333FSB through BIOS but the end results are not ideal. Therefore, we re-routed the circuitry and added more components. However, 965 still lacks 975x of the dual graphics 2 x PCIe x8 bandwidth.
Mine at least explained why I thought I could do it with a bios update...because Gigabyte for a while thought they could do it with a bios update....but apparently they did not have much success with it...
Basically the Rev3 and the GA-965P-DS3 are really a different board...with different Circuitry...and additional components...they are really more then just a Revision...I always thought it was just the change to solid caps...that was the difference between the two...
I like how you used the water and pipe explanation...I do the same think when trying to explain FSB...Bandwidth...and Data Flow in general...to someone who does not understand the concept...I always put it in plumbing terms...Most people can understand it in those terms...
Thanks You,
theonejrs and Crowy for the time and Info...looks like a Quad Core is really the only upgrade course for me...as far as CPU's go...
