Thanks, PeaInAPod. The whole reason I write these tutorial is because I have spent many a day searching for answers to some of the unnecessarily complicated guides you'll find on the internet. :-)

HEY Lethal at he beggening of you're tutorial it's written "<2> Download the following files, and place them in the Rockbox folder which you just created."

The "a" file worked but when i tryed downloading the "b" file it downloaded it but said:You are trying to open a file type 'BIN FILE'(bin)

These files are used by the exploitation system and other programmes
there modification riskes to damage you're system

If you want to open this file ,click on OPEN WITH,othertwise click on cancel

and so my reaction is that i don't need to open the file but then it does not go into my hard drive. When i search for the file it can't find it...
I'm assuming i can't skip this step so please help

thank's-

Save it somewhere you can find it.. "desktop" would be a good place to save downloads that are only going to be there temporarily..

i'll explain the process of the problem :1)I click on the link 2)i download the file3) a window pops up saying:

These files are used by the exploitation system and other programmes
there modification riskes to damage you're system

If you want to open this file ,click on OPEN WITH,othertwise click on cancel

I know that i don't need to open the file so i click CANCEL
then i go in start and then search i search for the file and it can't find it meaning that the file isin't on my computer.

maybe if you gave me the link to the website to download it would work(i don't know)

When you download it, just click "save as" or "save to disk" in your browser, then Windows won't even attempt to open it.

1. Have you definetely made the "rockbox" folder in the correct place (root directory of your C: disk)?
2. I suggest starting up a fresh command prompt before starting again. You are best off copying & pasting from the tutorial to prevent typo's.

Thanks mate. The rockbox tut is just a warm-up for iPodLinux / Podzilla 2. Once we have covered all areas of iPod modding, we can spend the rest of this thread Q'ing & A'ing and sharing ideas :-)

Linux is a lot more advanced than rockbox, but I recommend using rockbox before Linux, as it is a lot easier to use, but setup steps are similar in places.

Rockbox is still good though.. full colour tetris is suprisingly addictive :-)

I'd have to second that about the tetris, I've been playing it way to much. Some of the apps I can't seem to find a way to quit out of, such as Snake, is there any way out for that or do I always have to reset?

Well DarkJello, it seems to vary from plugin to plugin, but usually to exit out of the currently viewed plugin, you have to press "Menu" or "Menu" and "Select" at the same time (Press, not hold).

Alright thanks, I think that is how it works for Tetris [press Menu and select] I'm getting the hang of Rockbox now and it's pretty neat now that I can navigate it better. Still havn't quite figured out the skins thing though.

Extract the archive using WinZIP or WinRAR and then drag the contents onto the root directory of your iPod's drive.
