My monitor is on but no picture, as soon as I take the card out adn reboot, it works fine, so I cant go into bios screen after installing the card. Should I have to go into bios the change the settings even if I only want to use the new card for my tv and not for my monitor? If so, is it going to work pre-installation of the new card?

You will need to change it before you install the new card.

Hey Sam, that first picture on your post with a bunch of pics of the two monitors side by side

this one: http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5750/s5000583za3.jpg

- I'm taking it that the rosier picture on the left is the old monitor - the newer -HC is the monitor on the right with the more accurate colors, correct??

Nope, the one on the left is the newer 3008. The reason the colours look worse is because it's lowest brightness is brighter than the 3007's lowest, so the camera picture was a bit saturated.

Shaff thats hysterical (try resizing the pics at 800 wide). I thought to myself, "mess" "mess" "mess" where are the after pictures?

Now I get it - "after" means you tore all the boxes open and installed all your hot equipment!!

So did you crush sam yet - you'll need about 22,000 to do that! LOL

What kind of water are you running - how do you think it compares to that one that Russ was gonna get for $139 on the overclocking thread.

Good luck, you'll need to overclock your Graphics card to the maximum Catalyst will allow and get your CPU at 4.0Ghz plus to pull that off :)

(No, I didn't get my CPU to 4Ghz, but this is because Vista gets lower scores than XP due to its slower DirectX9 performance, so to get the same score as me, Shaffaaf has to push his system much further)

Wow, I read about that Swiftech GTZ block - bjorn3d.com and a few others. Niiiiice!!! Really nice engineering. Copper microstructures - a little bit more restrictive but 15% better thermal transfer. They're using Delrin over the copper - some type of hard synthetic dupont material also used in ski bindings, etc. They had been using aluminum, but there are possible metal to metal corrosion problems with dissimilar metals in contact like that.

So, with your precious Vista you had a hard time even installing 3dmark6!!!!!!!

Muhahahahah - 3dmark's fault for being lazy! Hahahahaha!

No doubt you'll also have trouble installing XP,

WHICH YOU WILL NEED TO BEAT SAM!!!!

Muwahahahahah!!

While 3DMark06 may not be entirely fair, it does give a good indication of what you might expect from the latest modern games.

I've seen a 9600GT with an X2 5000+ @ 3GHz bench about 9850 at default settings. That should be a fair match in performance. Let's see how your laptop stacks up to a similar spec desktop system.

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 4GHz(20 x 200) 1.5v 3000NB 2000HT, Corsair Hydro H110 w/ 4 x 140mm 1500RPM fans Push/Pull, Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5, 8GB(2 x 4GB) G.Skill RipJaws DDR3-1600 @ 1600MHz CL9 1.55v, Gigabyte GTX760 OC 4GB(1170/1700), Corsair 750HX

that's interesting, as I would place the HD3870 as a near identical performer to the 9600, and with my 3.15Ghz E4300, I scored 10,800 with that.

Well exactly, but nvidia typically score higher in 3dmark, so that's quite a big jump in CPU performance between them. Consider the 70 dollar E2180 is that CPU's equivalent, that's not bad (yes, it's 2Ghz vs 1.8, but it had less cache)

Yes. With a 3GHz+ Core 2 Duo, a 9600GT might get 10,500 or so.

I'll get 3Dmark06 and see how I measure up.

It will be around the 5000 mark beacuse the 9600M GT is roughly the equivalent of a desktop 9500 card.

We'll see
