And?
The 9200 happened to come in a PC, so that wasn't through choice. The next card was an X800, which was back when ATI really did have a significant IQ lead. By the time I got the next card, I was knowledgable enough to know that ATI were the right company to have to get the best picture quality :)

Late indeed navskin, I'm from the UK too.

Well that sure killed the discussion.
On a slightly more related note, I played some more Crysis and Warhead.

Crysis, 'Contact' 2560x1600 All High, 4xAA Applied, 17-24fps
Crysis Warhead 'Adapt or Perish' All Enthusiast, 4xAA Applied 3-8fps

Also, in contact at least, without the AA, not only is all High playable, it's actually smooth... I was amazed, the game actually runs well. I'll post a couple of screenies.

LOL just recently had a scare with my 500GB Samsung. Had a power outage due to the snow. And when I restart, it boots fine, but it starts clicking when I try to run any apps. A CHKDSK F/R/ reports a bad sector replaced in my Firefox user data and it runs fine now :P

Wow. 400GB+ of data is not something I feel like replacing right now. And to keep it OT, it's 400+ GB of games XD

It's funny, that's exactly what I had with my HD400LJ, but I didn't know the cause, perhaps I disconnected it from power a few too many times :P You were better off than me as it BSODed my PC when it happened unless it was in a USB enclosure. Reformatted it to solve the problem, it now gets 99% health in a SMART test not 100 as it has one reallocated sector, haha

Are bad sectors permanently marked as unusable when you reformat? It says that it's been reallocated to the "bad sector file" or something like that. Is that a permanent archive on the disk or is it in Windows?

Damn. We don't start working with hard drives in class until spring.

And as far as SMART ratings. All of the drives I've ever had hover around like 97-99 in fitness and performance. So I assume there's a reasonable margin of error???

Well the HDD still gets a 98 rating for fitness and like a 96 for performance. So I'm assuming it'll be fine either way.

That's comforting though. Computers are just awesome that way :P

Depends on the processor, it will only work well in tandem with a good CPU. A lower-end mobile one won't work so well.

2Ghz Mobile Core 2 Duo may be a bit on the weak side. A 2.4Ghz AM2 X2 needs around 60% CPU usage to render full HD video on a basic HD3000 chip.

I doubt better than Half Life 2. It's supposed to be faithful to the original with some updating. No doubt of the same caliber though :P

HAVE YOU SEEN THE TRAILER?

It DEFINITELY looks better than HL2. It's basically using the HL2 engine to remake HL1.
