Check if you got an 6db splitter from ntl. If yes replace it with a real splitter.

Did you got such a device from NTL or not.
The thing from NTL is a combiner with attenuator and not a real splitter.

I am sure you have been asked before,is it possible to do a manual scan to get all the channels without having to replace the cables.xml file ?It would be much more simple if this can be done, otherwise I will have to recall about 6 of my mates boxes and re flash, which is a pain in the A*** !!!!!!!!

There is no working manual scan for cable inside a neutrino image for dbox2.
Satellite and sat boxes is a other story.

I cant remember, but I think someone said before to delete the scan.conf?? Is that right? I just want to replace the files and not have to do a new scan.
Cheers,
Teflon
Upload the cables.xml to share/tuxbox or var/tuxbox/config depending on the image.
In a blade image the cables.xml goes to share/tuxbox. In a sportster to var/tuxbox/config for instance.
After that delete the file scan.conf in var/tuxbox/config and pull the plug.
Replug and go the scan menue, move the highlighted bar to the provider line and select via ok button what you want.

Hi All,
Just some quick questions from a newbie on changing the cable files. Going to try this tonight as I think I'm missing a few stations so I don't want to mess it up.
Using DW 1.6.2 image so wondering if the file goes into share/tuxbox or var/tuxbox/config?
I'm using dreamboxedit for making changes to dreambox is this the best package to use or are there others?
Finally. I'm not sure how to find share/tuxbox or var/tuxbox/config when I go into the dreambox, any help?
I'm guessing it's in the file on my PC where I download my info from the Dreambox to but I was looking in there last night but couldn't see them.
Did see a cable file though so is it as easy as just replacing that.
I suppose I will still need to find var/tuxbox/config though to delete the scan configure though.
Sorry for what may seem like stupid questions............

At a dream box with enigma image switch to a working channel, go to manual scan and enable BAT ONID network search. Select all channels and start the scan. Don't touch the other options.

OK. Found that I should be using Dreambox control centre.... Oh the joys of google....
However I can't get the file to transfer. It even asks me if I want to overwrite the file... However when I check the "new" cable file, nothing has changed.
Can't even delete the old file. It asks me if I'm sure and even though I say yes... It's still there.
Any ideas?????

If you want to use the cables.xml at a dream box with enigma image the file goes to var/etc.

as i understand it and i could be wrong ....
when your uploading a new image you need to put it into a temp file.
i use dreamup for flashing images and it works fine. you dont have to worry about which file you upload too and it even lets you delete your old image.
as i said i am not 100 % on that but......
good luck

For All!! Procedure to update cable.xml file to get all channels back!
1-connect your dbox2 to pc ( in my case via ethernet...make sure you have made all adjustments regarding setting up dbox2 and pc for your local network...PROIR TO THIS STEP)
2-run FlashFXP ( or whicever program works for you)
3-click connect( the lightining bolt icon)
4-select QUICK CONNECT
5-in server put= ip address of your dbox2( e.g 192.168.2.3)
6-in username put= root
7-in password use = Comando ( for commando image ..different for different images you should know this )
8-connect
you will see in dbox section all the files running through
9-in dbox window select /VAR/TUXBOX/CONFIG/
10-in PC window find the latest cables.xml file which you would have downloaded ( e.g IRISH10 cables.xml)click and drag only this file to the config folder
11-lastly find scan.config file and delete it
12-close flashfXP, disconnect the ethernet connection and take dbox2 plug out from electric socket. wait 1 min them power back on.
you should have the latest cable.xml file running and hopefully all the channels back.
this is my own experience so i put it in a stepwise pattern for all to follow.. this is for dbox2 and again specifically for a commando8.2image... if you are running a different image just change those particular steps that are specific for that image.
hopefully this would help people.

Good post mate except the cable file either goes in the var/tuxbox/config folder or the share/tuxbox/config folder depending on your image not in the zappit folder.
