To the other watercooling guys;
Any good USA sites for high end custom waterblocks for Intel LGA775? I'm working with an old Little River Cascade Waterblock SS that replaced an even older Dangerden RBX. It's been 3 yrs since testing. Whoe's making good commercial parts to compare with these? The RBX was cool if you can keep the flow over 2.75 cfm & if able to get a better inlet restrictor. What are your guy's input on this? Please share. I really like the tripple tube design of the DD RBX. Anybody using it still and have any comparible specs over the Jetted versions in medium cfm of 1.75 - 2?

Ive got 2GB of pc-4200 (default speed of 533MHz), i tryed setting the speed higher from within the bios, to be more precise 650MHz. It appeared to work, ive got a pentium d + aluminium heatsinks on the ram,so will the extra 117MHz oc work and is it safe ?

Well, I've started putting this E4300/P5N-E together. I modded the Northbridge heat sink. There was almost no thermal compound on eithr the chip or the heat sink. I'm installing the Intel cooer for now because I didn't see any sense in her shipping me the Freezer 7 and then my having to ship it back because I won't ship it attached. Besides Anandtech used the stock Intel cooler to get to 3.4 and I'm only hoping for 3.2 as I want a bit of headroom and the performance doesn't lag that far behind at that speed. Mabe if you are a gamer it does, but I think an 80% OC is plenty.
Tomorrow, I'll put the MB in the case and hook everything up and see what it does out of the box. Since this was a slightly used MB she bought which only saw a week of use because he wanted full 16x in SLI, so it may be set up for an E6300 to begin with as that's the CPU he was using in it. He said that the MB was a good overclocker so I guess we will find out!

not trying to teach my granny to suck eggs here russ but reset the bios before you start.
if i can be so checky, will you see if you can get that one to post at 400x7 i only ask as mine will only do it at 400x6 and 400x8 (2.4 and 3.2ghz) and i cant work out why it wont at x7.

I have already pulled the battery so the setup goes to default. I'll re-install the battery when I put the MB in the case. Believe me when I say I have no problem asking for advice. Nobody knows everything, least of all me! I'm going to take it slow, test, test and test some more.
This computer is for someone I value and treasure very much in my life! and I want it to be as perfect as I can get it for her. It's amazing how clear I pictured her in my mind, and just how close I came in my mind's eye! She has become a good friend and the friendship continues to grow! Granted she's 2000 miles away and I'm just too damn old, but I'll settle for a good friend anyday above all else! Those are forever!

stepping news
it seems the new stepping on the e63 and e6400 c2d does not like to oc.
anybody else think this could be to push people to buy the exx20 versions?

I've also seen bad reports about the latest 6600 chips as well, it appears that Intel are wising up, and using the better chips for the higher rated cpu's.

just be glad you got yours when you did, or if your buying another one now try to one with the older stepping.
not realy a surprise tho, they are nerfing them to make people pay fro the extra performance.
i wonder if they will bring out a quad thats a good overclocker?

see what your superpi times are like now. i have knocked a second of mine by setting it 1:1 and getting it to run cas3. its no world record but mines doing 1m now in 19.235 (30.4 @stock speeds)
if you set it to 667 in the bios it is 333 and 1:1 thats what i ment in the other post not run ddr1333, i wish mine would do that.

I don't understand how you can have 667mhz and 1:1, surely if 1:1 is meant in the traditional sense, it means your FSB would have to be 667mhz too?
I get 20 seconds in superpi, how do i get the decimal places displayed?
Never mind I found out, 21.062 - what a rip that the modified version doesn't support SSE2/3.

fsb is quad pumped for rated fsb thus 333 fsb x 4 = 1332 rated fsb.
fsb is double pumped for memory thus 333 x 2 = 666 (667).
so in order to run fsb:drm ratio at 1:1, if fsb is 333mhz, memory needs to be at 666 (667)mhz.
we must have different versions of cpu-z. mine's a little different.

Under 20 sec for an economy chip is about half the time of my D-940, which is now running at 3.61 and does Super Pi in just under 37 sec. I ran into a timing problem with Auto-Cad 2004 so I had to drop it a little. I started getting fractured renderings which is not exactly good for determining turbine failures. it interferes with the view. It will run OCCT for 24 hours with no errors at 3.71 but dropping the speed a bit stopped the fracturing! MB's getting a little long in the tooth anyway! LOL!!
Can't wait to see what I'll be able to do with the un-locked E4300 once the new P5N-E gets here! It should make overclocking a bit easier!

Another way to knock some time off Super-pi is to run Windows Server.
I don't run it, never have and never will, but it shows the lengths some users will go to get that extra bit of speed.

if you've been trying to run your memory at 1333mhz thinking that was fsb:drm ratio of 1:1, I can see why you've been having problems getting a descent OC.

if you insist on running your memory at 800mhz, you could lower the multiplier to 8 and raise the fsb to 400. that would put you at 3.2ghz, and at 400fsb you will have a fsb:drm ratio of 1:1 if you run the memory at 800mhz.

I think they did it just to knock AMD into the weeds. I venture with all the replacements Intel must have had to issue, we won't be seeing this kind of performance anymore unless we are willing to pay the price! Just an educated guess! LOL!!

1:1 reffers to the base clocks fsb is qdr so 1332/4 is 333, ram is ddr so 666/2 is 333 giving you the 1:1
@1:1 the best iv done at x8 so far is 3.28ghz im not sure if 3.3ghz is the best i will get out of this mobo with out modding it to fix the vdroop issue. i need to fully test it at lowwer multis to see how high the cpu will go, but 410 from 200 is good in my book. if it goes much higher at x6 i would be surprised, pleasantly at that. not that i think i will need to run at these speeds 24/7 as 3.0 is plenty for me at the min.

are you sure that 40 secs was as quick as your pent d got for superpi 1m? i (with a lot of help from crowy) got my semp 3400 at 2.41ghz to do it in 38.4. my current personal best is 17.7 at 3.3ghz but i didnt tweak my ram so i think i can get it quicker than that (i want sub 15 now but sub 20 was my goal before i upgraded so i am already bellow my first target).

also sam if your running a dif version of superpi comparisons are usless. mine is 1.5xs.

What don't you like about Windows Server? I've been using it for all my overclocks since Enterprise 2003 came out and love it's stability. XP would often crash hard and require a system restore to undo the faild load test. However, I can't use certain Adobe apps I need for A/V so I move to XP Pro x64 since it is based off Server 2K3 code it offers the like stability but not tested for any kind of synthetic scores. Does fine in real world use.

I just ran it and Super Pi 1.5 shows 36.874 at 3.61gHz. It doesn't gain very much with an increase to 3.71GHz it's 36.094 and 3.84GHz it's 35.776. I never tested it at 4.01 as my brain kicked in and asked me what the hell I was doing! I had just blown up one MB and I didn't need to do it again even if it did have heavier VRMs for better power handling. The old MB would only go to 3.84GHz. This one will hit 4GHz but I'll never run it that fast! It's old tech and it's production run ended in November.
