Hey all I have tried everything to backup true crime nyc, I have a unknown mod chip and i have several burners a aopen and a pioneer 105(old faithful) i used cheap media to back up games with out a issue, i have backed up many new games ie GTA, GUN, STREET v3, NEO etc...as they are a valuable investment. I have tried the old trusty method of just brute making a gi file in record now max professional and that did not work then i tried the dvd_decrypter method and that did not work, im using regular 4x media that i usually use but i get burn errors on both burners im going to try Nero in a few and see. I also tried the "rebuild the ISO trick" all have been NG. not a NOOB just quiet.

first off if you are using DVD Decrypter and you have 8x DVD-R or DVD+R then burn at 4x it works better but it also depends.if you are using crappy media like memorex or hyundai u may need to use different method but i doubt those dvd-r's even work.best ones are:tdk, ritek, taiyo yuden, sony, philips, maxell, imation so try these(yudens are the best)and go to www.ps2nfo.com for ps2 online tips.if your games are freezing look for patches on your p2p or torrent.

Yes, I've successfully backupd 'Shadow of the Colossus'. The ISO is about 2.8gb, and I burnt it on a Databank V2 DVD-R on 2x with DVD Decrypter. Works perfectly, and what a hell of a game.

Some people say you have to rebuild, and others say they did not have to rebuild. Is there a for sure list of games that must be rebuilt. I know that the 50 cent game needs to rebuilt, but what about some of the new titles as of November to December. Somewhere on this link I saw that Star Wars Battlefront needs to be rebuilt, but I used DVD Dycrypt and it burnt fine, I even beat the game without any problems.

Yeah I've been able to burn Star Wars: Battlefront without rebuilding it with Alcohol 120%. I think someone else said they used DVD Decrypter and they had gotten a TOC over 8 gigabytes, and you said you used DVD Decrypter and was able to back it up, so I think there's something else that's giving us the wrong TOC.

I did nothing special for following - work on slim PS2 and SwapMagic 3.6.

1.Pro evo 5
2.Resident Evil 4

Had to work on Star Wars Battlefront 2 - read info on the forums here and got it working after following the instructions etc.

I wanted to make a reply on the Star Wars Battlefront PS2 game... I burned it with DVD Decryptor and it worked. BUT... for some reason it seems to want to pause alot. It seems to have a bad case of the stutters or the hiccups or something... lol.

It might be that the original was scratched or something (which I no longer have - it went into the ultimate blackhole in my house where keys end up also lmao). It did work though, and my son still uses it, even with it stuttering.

did you burn the .iso or .mds?
Senior Member
_
12. December 2005 @ 15:01 _ Link to this message    Send private message to this user
Its best to select the .mds, but I've heard it doesn't matter. With an .iso, even if you get an .mds file, it shouldn't matter if you select the .iso.

However, with an .mds and an .mdf file, it's best to select the .mds. (Alcohol 120% works best with those)

And nexusboy, we already know about Resident Evil 4. Thanks for the info on Pro Evo 5 though.

I've updated the list. Also, if you're gonna say 'add this game ____' PLEASE write out the full name. Please do not abbreviate (such a long word lol). And before you say 'add this game _____', have a look at the list and see if it's on there. Tell us if it needs rebuilt or a patch, if its PAL or NTSC, or any other notes. And say if you have a modchip or Swap Magic and what version of Swap Magic it is. I just went through the list and found a few games were listed in here twice, and some that I know don't work with Swap Magic 2.0. Remember, this is how a game works for you, so if you can give us as much info as you can, it will help.

An example add for a special procedure:
50 Cent: Bulletproof [NTSC] (Swap Magic 2.0, rebuild)

Just keep it similar to that.

Games That Required Special Procedures:
(ANYTHING TO MAKE IT WORK, PATCH, REBUILD, WHATEVER)

50 Cent: Bulletproof [NTSC] (Swap Magic 2.0, rebuild)

Had no problem with Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (Special Edition) [NTSC - Swap Magic 3.6] Used memorex discs and burned at 1x

Also Shadow of Rome is on the list as needing and not needing special steps. Can anybody clarify this?

And somebody has a Spongebob game..hahahahahahaha
Just kidding he rules.
