hi dela,
i have k-lite 1.7 but it doesn't have the participation level thing on it, why is that? but i still get the fastest connections anyway.if i had a participation level wud it make a difference?
anywayz im gunna download e-mule and give it a try using ur tutorial but i did find a useful site for use with kazaa lite called http://www.up2dat.com and http://www.verifieds.com. They both require sig2dat software and ive only been let down with a few files on there (games). What are your thoughts on them two sites above and what is ed2k is that like sig2dat just for use with e-mule? i do see files on kazaa that say they are from sharereactor etc
Also could anyone educate me on how IRC (internet relay chat) works? and where to find it etc.

It could be a lot of things mate, the files you are getting could be rare, you might have a lowid, you might not be running emule 24/7 like its supposed to be run or as we learned with joker_man on irc, your computer might just be messed up and need a bit of a clean up, that certainly improved his d/l speed!

Hi,

I guess my speed is allright, but i have another question right now. Is it normal that i have 805 sources, and they're ALL queued?

Thx.

Hi Dela

I know this an emule forum but i wanted to know something about bittorrent.

the ting is that i have just acquired a client and i don't know shit about bittorrent or getting stuff off it. So if you could just give me some basics or atleast point me in the right diretion.

I have already read the faq and stuff available on he site and it seems to be concerned mostly about what u do after u start a download and troubleshooting running downloads. but nothing about starting downloads and looking for downloadables in the fist place.

thanks in advance

well its easy really to start a download first u gotta find a site that list torrent files! here is a good list of sites

http://members.chello.nl/p.wiersema/list.html

Just downloading the torrent file and opening it will start the download, although most of the time, clicking the link is enuff, it just downloads from there!

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can give me a hand with a little problem that I'm having.

I started my eMule today (v.29a) and went to check on my downloads. Last night, I was downloading 4 separate files, three of which were almost done. There were no files listed in the download queue. They had just disappeared. They didn't finish without me knowing, I checked the list of shared files just to be sure.

Also, the files in the eMule/Temp directory are still there (001.part, .001.part.met, etc.) but I can't figure out if I can resume these at all.

Is there any way to get these to re-appear in the download queue, or do I have to re-start the files?

Also, if it's any more help, my server list also disappeared at the same time. I'm asuming that the two gliches were caused by the same problem (or else there was a big co-incidence)

Thanks in advance,
Paul.

Wow. You're quick.

No, I shut my computer off last night (with the heat in my room, I just can't leave it on), and booted it up this-morning (with no adverse side effects) And the problem described above happened. It did really hurt because (like I said) three of the four were almost complete, but the worst part is that they were all movies (ie 700+ megs). One only had 17 sources, and another had around 60-70 (but only source with the complete file).

I'll probably just suck it up and start them again. (Unless there's some sort of quick fix).

Anyway, if there's anything you can think of, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again,
Paul.

Thanks again, but I'd already thought of that. I even tried moving the files around and changing the directories, but still no go. I downloaded installed a new eMule version, but still nothing

I found the following:
http://www.emule-project.net/board/index.php?showtopic=24227

It details people having the exact same problem, but similar to the people in that discussion, the applications listed didn't work for me either.

It's sad to say, but i've given in and started to download all four files again. I'm not going to turn off the computer until they're done. Lesson Learned.

Anyway, thanks again for the quick responses. Even though this is my first post on this thread, I've used it to correct more than one problem in the past. Keep the good advice coming.

Paul.

Hi,
My eMule client is undstable lately. After several minutes of work it creates an error and closes.
I of course tried several clients (all from REMOVED) yet all generate errors.
Is this common?
Does anybody know anything about it?

The usual windows XP error (with the "send error report" or "don't send" options). As always the app shuts down when you choose one of the options.
Perhaps you could point out a client version that you know works perfectly? If that will fail, there's probably something else wrong - either in my OS or perhaps another background app (although I can't imagine what it is).
Things that run in the background:
- KaZaA Lite 2.4.0
- SETI@HOME
- Norton Personal Firewall 2003
- Norton Antivirus 2003
- ICQ
- Scanner Manager
