ok hi guys, im relatively new here and to emule, so dont be surprised if i ask stuff which prove that im an eMule newbie. Firstly, in eMule, when add directories to share, some directories such as 'My Videos' dont appear and im not able to choose them to share. What a shame. O yea, u probably heard this alot, but my dl speeds are pathetic. btw, i joined #aD_buddies and am not sure what to do next... how do i list friends? May I know where to add a sharereactor link and how? does it help much? hope i get a fast reply thx alot.

The amount of users, you cant change unfortunately, just the bandwidth you will allow!

Also yes it sucks starting from scratch but it has to be done unfortunately

If your university is behind a complex firewall it can block incoming connections so downloading would be almost impossible with eMule

oh and Kyle, nice talking to you ;-) lol

The amount of time it takes to download a 168mb would depend on the amount of sources you have + the amount of sources you have that will be able to transfer to you quickly!

As for servers, Probenprinz.de servers or Silent Bob are fine!

dela - firstly thanx for all your help, I've finally got emule working nicely now after a long period of frustration.

One thing tho. Some files i try to download seem to be constantly incomplete. I was wondering if after continued use this will sort itself out, or if there is something you can do to solve this problem. or is it just one of those things you can't do anyhting about?

When you say constanbtly incomplete do you mean that they are almost finished and then just dont move??

no, i mean i succesfully download most of the file, but certain parts of it nobody seems to have (the red bits). all the sources say "no needed parts", although some say "asked for another file". I thought maybe after i'd built up some credit through uploading more sources would be willing to let me download from them, and that this might solve the problem, but i don't know if thats how it works.

Sup! Excusez mes, about credits, is it the greater u share, the greater ur download?

Fur Exampleatory : I put me upload to 40, leave emule on for 1 week & half, turn upload back down, try download, download goes zooom! download completed.

Itz being seen by me, that upload is not a factor..... Or is it? dun dun duuuuuun ( sorry )

People completely misunderstand the uploading thing! First of all, if you are downloading, we'll say, a 700mb xvid file, then there will be a lot of parts in that to download! So lets say you begin downloading, you wont just be downloading off people with the whole file, but you will be downloading off people with only bits of it aswell! Since the files are transfered in parts, you are on your sources queue to get a part you dont already have! Now, you might be really far down the list of the queue, however, if you are uploading to that user, a part that they dont have, then you will gain priority in their queue. So you will make your way up the list fast!! The best thing to do when dealing with big files is this, wait until about 40mb or so is downloaded, click shared files and right click the file and change its priority to release. That way you will be transferring that file the most! Hence, you will be gaining priority on queues so your downloads should go faster!!

Oza, these files you are downloading, did you start downloading them by searching for them in eMule??

loly..dude..i was talking about the kazaa sites for direct DL(like verified dwnloads etc) not emule sites like sharereactor(thght that was clear ,since i was also talking about sig2dat--it works only with kazaa ,right?)
and anyway i figured out that there was a prob only with some links,,other links worked fine..

Dela- I understand how the downloads on emule work, it just seems strange that there should be so many people who are sharing files that are incomplete.

In response to your question, all the files i am downloading were found using the emule search. I currently have 3 or 4 downloads that are 80% complete but nobody seems to have the remaining parts!

Hi, I have just started using emule and was downloading a couple of largeish files (700Mb). They are nearly downloaded but when i right clicked them and went to "show file details" it had about 13-25Mb of "lost to corruption". Does emule fix this itself, or do i have to do something to it? Thanks

BoB

Dont worry about the corruption the file will come out fine!

As for 56k users, all i know is its best to limit uploads to 1kb/s, which would only allow you 3kb/s downloading but its better than the uploading eating your bandwidth completely!

Thanks for that, but have another slight problem caused by my imaptience. While waiting for ur reply i downloaded NetMetic (or something) to try and fix the problem, and i was trying to work it and it told me to rename the file. Having done that I dont know how to rename the file back so i can complete the downloading from emule? Any suggestions?
