Alright, it turns out you can't run the install_psp_multi_ipl_loader.bat on Vista and Windows 7 is based off of Vista. Any other way to format it? I ran a google search on this and it had some hits but none of the problems regarding this has been fixed.

It's fixed.

That is why its always good to first do the nand dump before every adding CFW

Then you can always restore it, then try again.

So you followed the link I gave you, updated first to the 3.52 M33-4

There are probably others with problem like yours but they are probably not reading this guide.

You may need to start a new post or do a google search on your problem.

Hey back....

As long as your psp was originally under 4.00 firmware, then this guide will work fine as long as you read and follow each step.

Just make sure to also check if you have a TA-088 motherboard to check the specifics for each version.

Did you install the 1.50 addon for the CFW that you installed.

READ THE GUIDE!

If you read the Pandora section of the guide you would notice a section for Official Firmware users which tells you to hardmod or buy a tool battery.

More then likely your trying to follow directions for 1.50 or custom firmware users and that is why your getting the Game Can Not Be Started error. You can not follow the 1.50 or Custom Firmware sections for Official Firmware PSP Systems.

So your next step is to Hardmod or Buy a tool battery.

Are you kidding?

FOR THE 100th TIME READ THE GUIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read the guide (including the trouble shooting section) you would of known that the TA088 v3 motherboards can not be modded at this time.

sigh, I'm really sorry to bother anyone with questions, but I have read through everything and I am still getting problems. I'm going to lay out everything I have and hopefully I can get some answers. If this post annoys you, then please just look past it and keep going. I would appreciate any/all help.

Ok, I have an old style PSP (fat I guess?) with a standard battery and 1gb magicgate mmc. I am currently running Sony issued 3.90. No mods or anything else.

When trying to follow this guide I noticed that you need to have "m33" firmware installed first. I have tried to install just about every version of m33 firmware and load it to my PSP, however everytime I try I get an error that says (This game could not be started. 80020148).

I have attempted to follow the directions on here with just the firmware I have now and I was able to complete the first part (magic mmc) but upon opening up Pandora's battery creator I get the same error (This game could not be started. 80020148). This error pops up with pretty much anything I try to run that came with the downloaded software provided in this walkthrough.

If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated....I just want to use those fancy programs :( lol. Thanks.

Sounds like you have Official firmware on your PSP, so you will need to buy the Datel Battery or convertor.
It says so in the section of the guide "Creating Pandora's Battery" under Official Firmware PSP.

That is why we say read the guide from start to finish.
Nevermind, finally found what I needed, sory to bother you guys, thanks for all of your input.

Ok once you have made your MMC you need to buy a Pandoras Battery or hard mod yourself, this is because you are using OFW rather than CFW and you wont be able to create a Pandoras Battery without CFW through the psp. So either buy one (Pandoras Battery) or hardmod one (a regular battery).

Don't know how you missed it. This issue comes up and is answered close to every page in this thread.

Including this page.

As well the guide is clear as day. Don't know how clearer I can make the Pandora Battery section.

Lol, sorry man didn't men to offend you, honestly I've been bumming around other websites and just recently found this one, it seemed everyone else that was having my issue was linked to some other problem. I must have just overlooked it.

To answer this...and again pardon my ignorance to the matter, still reading up on everything, but since you answered might as well ask. If I hardmod my standard battery will I need to buy another standard battery to run things? Or can everything run off the modded? Besides that...sorry to bother again....how do I go about hardmodding? In the meantime I will do more reading up. I appreciate your help.

Depends on how you hardmod it. If you lift or cut the leg all you have to do is solder the leg back to its original status to get the battery back to normal mode.

If you cut the trace you can use a trace pen to reconnect the trace back after you mod the PSP.

As for how to do it. Google how to hardmod a battery. I will not link to any guide because hardmodding can be dangerous and I recommend either buying a Tool battery or find a friend or family member that has a Custom Firmware PSP and do it with that.

Thank you very much for your prompt answers. I will more than likely just purchase one or check with a coworker in my tech shop and see if he still has his modded and check with him. Thank you very much again!

Hi Guys,

I've been trying to use this guide but have stumbled upon a few problems. I have read through the posts, and initially thought it could be because I'm using Vista so have tried it on my XP PC but I'm still having problems. This is what I'm using:

Slim PSP with 3.71 M33-2. ( I put this FW on over a year ago, making the card and pandora via a fat PSP)
Now I want to put CFW on a V4.05 slim PSP, I still have the phat pandora but not the magic memory.
I have tried following this guide to make the memory stick but have the following problems:

Under step 1 I don't get asked to insert a new disc
It doesn't verify my memory stick, or ask if I want to format. (At this point I've already formatted via system info on the PSP as according to the previous step).
My PC then jumps to the 1-4 display so I choose 4 to go to universal unbricker. Then the files are transferred, I take the memory stick out, put it back in with the pandora battery and I get the green light from the battery but a blank screen. I've tried doing it 3 or 4 times now but arn't having much luck. Could it be anything to do with the battery I'm using? I have used the memory stick before to do this so I know that is fine, just stupidly wiped the files off !
Any help would be much appreciated.
