@darkzen

You MUST use a Pandora Battery to flash it with CFW. You can either HARD MOD your battery to turn it into a Pandora Battery, or buy a pre-made one.
To HARD MOD your battery, there are many guides on this site. Use the search on top of the page and you'll find a good guide.

Non-official eboots will never work and homebrew most definitely will not until you flash your PSP with CFW using a Pandora battery. This is the whole purpose of this guide. Re-read it thoroughly and you will discover that you need to flash CFW first.

If you were to read the previous posts within this thread you would of discovered the answer to your question.

According to the guide I use the Universal Unbricker to create the programs on the stick which I then use to create a Pandora battery. Remove the stick, unset the USB. Put card back in. Install option 4. Copy the 2 directories over. Run Pandora battery creator. Then I use the battery and stick to flash the CFW.

Did I miss any details?

Actually, following my post but before your posting, locobrown, I did run through the 8 pages of this thread and no one else posted a problem quite like mine. I ran through them again just to throw it back in your face. Uruha_Hel In October posted my question and nobody answered him (that I could find. If they did, please point out what page). I ran a search for the word corrupt on all 8 pages and found nothing.

?Larry right after i add the psp folder and the 150.PBP AND THE 395.PBP files and go 2 the game menu, all those files are corrupt...

i looked at the guide 2 c if i did something wrong but im pretty sure i didnt...can u help me plz? ?

Mr. Gooey was getting a ?8002014C? error saying ?the game cannot get started?. motioncst said you need the custom firmware to run the Pandora? Are you saying you cannot make a Pandora battery without the custom software? Larrylje, you said run the firmware instructions in the guide. I cannot run the firmware in the guide because the software is coming up corrupt. I?m not getting the code error.

Larrylje Are you telling me installing the universal guide cannot allow a 3.8Update/5.01OFW PSP to create a Pandora?

Locobrown, are you telling me the Universal Unbricker contains a ?Non-official eboots? and I need a Pandora already made to make the Unbricker work? How can you need a Pandora to flash the system, so that you can create a Pandora with the Pandora creation program, or is the Pandora creation program one of these Non-official eboots? I was asking if I was doing something wrong in the process, and you are saying this is it, and the Universal Unbricker cannot create a Pandora for me? If I translated you wrong, please let me know.

I would be willing to spend $12 for the Pandora Battery. I?m trying to figure out if I have to spend $31 for the battery and stick?but based on the Instructions, I can do this without either. I built the X-Wing Alliance Battle of Endor Mod gumping in movie sound track and it was the best on the net http://home.comcast.net/~altair1972m/xwa/xwa.html. I can do this (with a little more help).

In any event, while I was reading, I tried reformatting, etc and installing option 3.

@Altair72m
You can make the MMS using UUV3, but you can't use any of the apps until you flash. UUV3 contains homebrew apps. These can only be used after you have successfully flashed your PSP with CFW. Homebrew are non-official eboots. That is why you are receiving "the game cannot get started." You can't use the Pandora Battery creator because the PSP is still running on OFW, the reason why you need a hard modded Pandora battery.

The steps of flashing a PSP is quite simple. The PSP must be turned off completely by sliding the power and holding it in the upright position until it turns off. Insert the pandora battery. The green lamp will turn on automatically. Now insert your MMS. If you created the MMS successfully, the screen will turn on and it will boot into the CFW menu.

The only problem you might run into will be booting into the CFW menu. If the WIFI and MEM LEDs do not blink, the IPL code was not written to the MS or you have a V3

You need to do all of this before you can use any homebrew program.

TO ALL NEW USERS LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OFW (OFFICIAL FIRMWARE) and CFW (CUSTOM FIRMWARE).

I HAVE SAID THIS TIME AND TIME AGAIN!

YOU CAN NOT RUN THE OS PANDORA BATTERY TOOL WITH OFFICIAL FIRMWARE ON THE PSP!

IF YOU HAVE AN OFFICIAL FIRMWARE PSP YOU WILL NEED TO HARDMOD THE BATTERY OR BUY A DATEL TOOL BATTERY!

ALL OF THIS IS COVERED IN THE GUIDE SO READ IT!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the caps but I wanted to get the attention of users that do not comprehend the difference between Official Firmware and Custom Firmware. If you do not know the difference and what limitations Official Firmware has then you should not be attempting to MOD your PSP. Take some time to learn what the differences and limitations are before continuing.

@Altair72m and darkzen

Your a prime example. Under the Pandora Guide section there are 3 parts. 1st part is for users that have 1.50 firmware the 2nd part is those that have custom firmware. The 3rd part is for those that have Official Firmware. So figure out what type of firmware your PSP has and follow the corresponding part of the guide.

Larry and Loco, excellent responses conveying just the right amount of annoyance without being disrespectful. I thank you. May I propose that you put that information, the way you wrote it to me into the forum where your guide information is?

Ok...so I have to go by a pandora to get the system to allow me to make a pandora using Universal Unbricker. Therefore I do need the pandora. Once I have the pandora battery, do I need the magic stick from pandora-sales or can I use Universal Unbricker at that point?

Soooo how was the first pandora battery made? Is there an app to make a pandora with official firmware?

:)

I have said multiple times in previous post that if you have an official firmware PSP then use the Official Firmware part of the Pandora Battery guide. I shouldn't have to add it to the guide. Users should already know what type of firmware is on their PSP and should be smart enough to figure out what part of the Pandora Guide to follow. If your not then you shouldn't be modding your PSP.

As for buying a Magic Memory Stick with a Pandora Battery/Datel Tool battery why would you have to if you already made the Magic Memory Stick using this guide.

The answer is you don't!

All you have to do is buy a Datel Tool battery. Then use the Magic Memory Stick that you created using this guide.

I finally have something new to contribute!

Ok guys, I got my questions answered. Once you go over a certain level of official firmware you cannot downgrade using those programs or create a pandora battery without the Custom Firmware and first flashing with a Pandora battery using software.

You can open the battery and physically create a pandora battery. I saw an interesting video at:

http://www.instructables.com/id/S9PH7VGFCHYOGY4/

detailing pulling up the prong off one of the chips.

I'm going to go ahead and buy the battery, but use the programs I downloaded with your guide. Next question, is there a difference between DateL and PandoraSales? PandoraSales charges $12 on sale.

Thank you guys. That is not why I am writing.

According to the guy who posted this next article, you CAN tell from the outside if you have the infamous TA-082 motherboard by inspecting the area under the drive cover! Can you add that to the guide?

Ok, now that I made a genuine contribution, please Larrylje and Locobrown, can us nebiews have your forgiveness? Some of us work 9 to 5, some of more, have kids, and don't have time to read up on all you have to offer in a few days. I would be glad to edit your guide for you this weekend (Please know I'm not dissing you, I'm giving an other perspective. For 10 years I have been editing letter from bosses.), and send it back to your for your approval. If you don't like it, you tell me to delete it or threaten to nail me for copyright :). Maybe after that we can get this thread closed and start a new one :)...or better yet, noone would be asking the questions.

Guys, could you pass around the news about the TA to the other boards (once you verify I'm telling you right) so that those people can double check BEFORE they start?

@Altair72m

There is no reason to add anything about TA-82 motherboards because this guide works perfectly fine on them (you only need to determine if you have a TA-82 motherboard if your using a downgrader homebrew application).

The new TA-83 version3 motherboards are the unmodable ones. I have this covered in the trouble shooting section. Stating that newer motherboards have block this method.

The guide is perfectly fine how it is. But even if it did need edited, there would be no way I would agree to let you do it.

As for your 10 years experience with editing your bosses letters. Using your above post as an example, I am surprised you haven't been fired yet.

there is no reason why the guide should be edited. it is created so that you are to read EVERYTHING closely. how hard is it to read it slowly and carefully? none at all.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd

Well...like I said, I can edit. My writing sucks, but I make good manuals of instructions. Seriously, I was diagnosed with ADHD and Strattera messed me up. Thus I do not read well information that is all over the place or in large volumes. I can however follow simple instructions properly written. The offer, despite your disdain will always be on the table.

Sorry about confusing the two motherboards.

Guess what Altair72m it's not just newbies that work and have families.
Let's see some us go to school, work hours longer then the 'standard' 9 to 5, have families yet still try and help the community here in our free time.
If you don't like it then go elsewhere - we can't please everyone.

G'day

Larrys guide was the first i came across and used but with no luck
i could not get it to work,

ive used programs from psp-hacks. com to many other sites
that contain guides, forum and programs still not working

ive read many and it seems im overlooking or missing some detail.
reason i signed up here, to ask this question, you mates seem to know what yous are talking about.
ill throw some details out there

getting this psp working for my lil' sis
FAT PSP
PSP MODEL :PSP1000
Offical FW: 4.05 upgraded to it
SONY memory stick PRO DUO 4 GB Magic Gate MARK 2 (as mentioned by USER mascusv on 23 NOV)
i have gone and bought this new pandora/normal DUEL battery
as seen here http://www.consoletronics.com/product.ph...page=1&featured

i actually went to the store and not bought over website
i told the guy i just want the battery as i mentioned this forum told me how to make one. might have to go back buy that stick, not sure yet.

ive followed every step to make a MMS in your guide thru your univer download parts.

Dilemma: I have the above mentioned battery set to pandora and the memory stick is in but the psp loads up normally. not into BIOS/FLASH/DOS program

as ive read the MMS might not have installed properly but ive used your easy installer six times now (no lie) but it still does not seem to want to connect the WIFI light as well which supposed to indicate its gonna go into its little BIOS thing soo i can give it a touch up.

so my question...well im actually stumped and im hoping to try get this fixed by next week as i want to post psp and dvd's of files for PSP off to my sister for xmas. any help will be appreciated by any member that can give me help and not tell me to read a guide becos ive been reading them and downloading files for last 5 days, unless the guide is something exactely for my specs and trouble.

Cheers mate's

MMS i have? like i think you mentioned Pandora Deluxe 2.8

did not wanna see it until i got a reply

soo should go get that 1gig memory card from that chinese guy.

Cheers Mate

I have a PSP Slim&Lite with official firmware 3.71. How do I know which add-ons\firmware should I install?

Also, will a Hotwire battery (check it here) work good as a Pandora battery?

Worst PC EVER

RAM= 64 MB (Don't cry)

@Mshifty

If the PSP boots to normal XMB then the battery is not in Pandora Mode. When it is in Pandora mode the green power led light should come on and that is it (unless you have a Magic memory Stick in and it should then boot to Pandora menu).

So it seems you do not have the battery in Pandora mode if it keeps booting normally. Make sure it is a genuine Pandora battery and make sure it is in Pandora mode.

G'day Larry

Thanks For Response.

so by that website and how the guy showed me the battery has the 2 LED lights flashing soo its in pandora mode not normal.

if i just put the battery in no stick the green light comes on with black screen. (am i suppose to hold any button down) (seems to be a legit pandora battery)

so am i even suppose to put the memory stick in or just load the pandora up with a green light black screen and leave it like that for a long time?

-soo next step after the green light black screen, i put in the mms and it loaded normally, so i thought i had made a bad MMS,

but as i do i believe ive totally missed sometthing.

Sounds like your pandora battery is fine.

You could try making your mms the way locobrown describes in this thread.

Hi guys. I followed the steps suggested by the guide, and I did it over 3 times. However whenever I try and put in the pandora battery the screen goes black and doesn't take me anywhere. I've tried the whole pressing X thing, and that didn't help. Can someone please respond and help me out here?

Note:I have a PSP Slim and am using a psp PHAT pandora'd battery, I am running 3.60 Official Firmware. I have a 2 gigabyte memory stick. I am running a Windows Vista 32-Bit Operating system. I've also tried this on my PSP Phat and it doesn't work on there either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks! (Also sorry if a question like this was already mentioned, I was a bit too lazy to read through the nine pages.
