You probably have a newer system that can not be modded. Again something covered under the trouble shooting section.

I nor anyone else can magically make this work for you. ll we can do is provide the directions and provide trouble shooting section. If you still can not get it to work then I have nothing more to offer.

Hey Larry i hardmodded my battery and got the mms files from another source (they were the same thing as yours) and i got my psp to 3.71m33 but...when i tried to run the pandora battery creator (which actually started this time), it said the game could not be started...

so since i already had 3.71m33 i was like wth i have cfw lemme just upgrade to the recent one. So i went 2 5.00m33...

everything seems to be working fine but am i at risk for something happening to my psp because i didnt run the battery creator or am i all set?

Hi guys,
Fist i have to say that I am a noob and reading larrylje's responces in this thread I can see how all the repeditive questions can be quite frustrating, but reading all 7 pages have been entertaining lol.. sorry larrylje :) I'm am also new to the PSP scene buying a psp from costco about 3 days ago. The box states PSP-2001IS/98891 and the firmware is 5.01.

Locobrown posted a some information on page 6 regarding OFW 4.0x+ PSP's being TA-088 V2 or V3 and not being able to to tell which until trying to boot using pandora.

now being that my PSP is OFW 5.01 I dont know if I should even try to install CFW. However, I figured I asked becuase although none has mentioned installation on OFW 5+ spefically, they have mentioned difficulties with OFW4.0+ if it is a TA-088V3. ANy input from any of you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Larrylje,
I'd like to start by say THANKS for this & all your previous guides, your a star...
I have previously made MMS & Pandora, from your old guide from December last year (now deleted) which I have used successfully a number of times to downgrade my son's (& his freinds etc)

I have just read the whole 7 pages of this thread & I have some questions that dont seem to have been previously answered. - Hope you can help

1) How can you tell if a slim is factory 4.05 with incompatible motherboad? or if it has been upgraded to 4.05?
It is a white slim model ser No. starts 03-2740****-*******-PSP2003

2) If I tried the MMS + Pandora in a new slim with non flashable board - what happens?
Does it brick it ? or
Does the downgrader just not work? ie. nothing happen & it just stays the same?

3) Finally if this model is possible to be down graded. Do i need your new Universal downgrader, or is the 1 i got from you before ok?
dated 02/10/2007 (sorry not sure which CFW it loads but its the downgrade which is most important, isnt it?)

4) I have seen many video's on you-tube claiming to downgrade slim 4.05's but ofcourse I can NOT tell whether they are just downgrading previously updated models or not? - Som even have links to make MMS

Many thanks again
(edited to try to get rid of spelling mistakes)

Its definately version 4.05 but as it belongs to the son of my girlfriend's boss, I'm not sure if he has upgraded it to 4.05 or not...

-I was'nt sure if this could be determind from the serial no or not, I know this was the case when chipping the old PS & PS2.

As for questions No.2 & 3 i was just hoping while Larrylje answered the other points if he could clarify if trying it could damge it.
also whether or not i needed the newer software for this specific case, as the MMS i created from his previous guide has always worked fine.

From other threads I have read, I think he deleted the older guides, as they had become too large with people asking the same questions over and over again.....
....unfortunately it looks like the same is happening again with this guide.

Thanks anyway

The only information I have read is SLIM PSP systems that have a 4.01+ (+ = above) stock firmware has the new motherboard.

As far as I know it will not brick the PSP if it is a SLIM PSP with new motherboard. It will block the IPL from loading the custom firmware.

The files are all the same in my previous thread. I just combined both Official and Custom firmware guides together and streamlined it to make it more clear.

So no damage then? just try it like usual? & if its been upgraded it will downgage ok as normal.then? and if its new motherboard it just wont downgrade.

Out of interest, What do you mean it will block the IPL? (sorry not a term i have come across as I read up on this ages ago)

thought they may be, you are a star.
AND
this guide is SO much clearer than the old one... Well done.

Its just a shame people wont take the time to read it fully, as it is so easy for the normal PSP's if you follow the Instructions, but your guides now 7 pages long....
as they say RTFM (Read The F'kin Manual)
Thanks again

Hi all, I have a PSP Slim and I had 3.71 M33-2 firmware on it. (I purchased it like this) I recently upgraded to the 5.00 m33 CFW but I want to downgrade back to the 3.71 as some of my saved games don't work.

I have followed this guide but I can't seem to get the Pandora menu to boot up. I have set the battery to Service mode using 2 different tools but the Pandora menu does not want to load up.

I power off the PSP, remove the battery. Re-insert the battery but after this the PSP just loads up back to the XMB. I have tried it with 2 different memory sticks, both do not work.

Make sure the AC Adapter is not plugged in when doing the above steps. If it still boots to normal XMB then you have not created the Pandora Battery properly.

Also you do not need to use this guide to downgrade back to 3.71 M33 firmware. I have created a guide for those that want to downgrade back to 3.71 M33 if they didn't like the updated versions of M33. The guide is located HERE.

You can use the AC Adapter, but it all depends under what conditions. My Datel Pandora battery is dead, it no longer retains its charge. The only way to boot into the CFW is by using the AC Adapter. As soon as the WIFI and MEM LED's blink I flash without the battery inserted.

What is the difference between downgrading with Hellcat's Recovery Flasher and Pandora? I know that Pandora formats the partitions then proceeds with the flash process. Does Hellcat reformat or does it only replace the files within flash0?

Wait, Is hellcat used only by those who would like to downgrade a PSP that currently has CFW, but do not posses a Pandora battery? If that's the case, I'm a complete knucklehead for asking.

So you finally got CFW on your psp.

To get your battery back to normal, did you follow the guide where it says take out your battery, plug psp in via AC Adaptor and turn the psp on (without the battery inserted)

Just refer to the guide for the rest that follows after that.

LocoBrown,

Appreciate your help (in a post on previous page). I am about to give up on trying to install CFW on the new slim I bought (OFW 4.01 out of the box). This guide is simple and awesome. I have tried so many friggin combinations of cards and PC's that I am convinced I have the V3 board. I have read so many posts (and followed your sticky to the help post for people who can't get passed the black screen and green power on light after installing the pandora battery . . . .which is as far as I can get). I don't think it's an IPL issue, as I get the appropriate screen in the final stages of creating the MMS. You mentioned that I should try DC7 if this guide doesn't work. May be a noob question, but how do I do that? Is there anything left for me to try? Am I likely looking at a V3 board?

Appreciate any help you are able to provide.
Awesome forum guys.

You need to use a PSP that has CFW in order to compile DC7. Skip down to step 24, in this tutorial. http://www.exophase.com/forums/showthrea...0&highlight=DC7 Download the files and create DC7. This is your last resort, if this doesn't work you indeed have a V3. Hope this works for you.

Last post. . . Went through the entire process in the other guide (wasn't successful picking up at step 24, tried twice that way) . . . created the MMS succesfully. Again, never got past the green light and black screen. Just to see what would happen I threw it all into my fat and booted everything with no problem. . . . got right to the 4.01 cfw installation screen, etc. Pretty sure I have the V3 board now. Too bad for me. Thanks for your help.

That's an easier method, but the whole process of formatting and reformatting the MS and writing the IPL code can take a bit of time to do. That's too bad that your PSP ended up being a V3. From the looks of it everyone who owns a V3 may be on OFW forever unless someone from Sony where to leak the Pre-IPL. That is what happened to team Wildcard. A traitor leaked the OE source code, rather compromised user counts, and stole the source. This ultimately lead to the redesign of CFW. M33 is the product of such result.

Yeah, you can link anything you want except ISOs, illegal cracked commercial software, ECT. Anything that is open source, freeware and homebrew you can link without a problem.

Do you know of store where people hardly shop for electronics? If you do, go that store and attempt to buy one from there. At this point you may be wasting loads of money embarking on a scavenger hunt without gratification. The best time to purchase a PSP was about 3 months ago when rumors surfaced about the 3000. I bought all of mine from Sears. My friend works at Sears and he has informed me that they haven't restocked PSPs since September. Nobody shops at Sears where I live, especially for electronics. The reason why is that Best Buy is several blocks away from Sears and from where I live. You should stay from stores like: Target, Circuit City, Fry's, Best Buy, Walmart, Kmart, and electronic stores within malls. These often restock their products and PSPs especially. Find a store where hardly anyone shops for electronic and might find a hackable PSP. At this point in time, its only blind luck.

The tutorial within this tread IS the guide that will help you unbrick your PSP. That depends, full bricks cannot be saved. First, you need a pandora battery make one or buy one. Second, a MMS. Create one or have some else create it for you with the files that are provided within this tutorial. If you don't have a magicgate card reader, you will need to find someone who does or another psp, so that you can create the MMS.

either find a working psp, a memory stick camera, or a card reader. then follow the steps in the guide.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .
