I'm having a problem very similar to MrSlug732.

I am trying to install the CFW on a SLIM psp currently running 3.95 OFW.

Following this guide, I have successfully created a MMS, and I am using a Datel TOOL batter for my pandora.

The system powers up the moment the pandora battery is inserted, as it should, and I have the MMS inserted.
However, the 'read memory stick' light does not light up, and pressing buttons does nothing.

I have tried making the MMS on two fairly different computers (as you mentioned it may be an issue) and both produce the same result.

Any suggestions on what to do?
Is it simply that I need to downgrade my PSP to something less then 3.71 in order to install the 3.71 CFW?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try all suggestions in trouble shooting. Including using a different Memory Stick. Or a combination of different PC and Memory Stick till you find a combination that works. Also make sure the Pandora Battery is created/working properly. The Power (GREEN LED) should come on when inserting the Pandora battery.

Just wanted to say a big THANKS to Larrylje for posting this guide. Two weeks ago I didn't even know what custom firmware was. Now I'm running 3.80 m33-5 on my PSP 1001. I just downgraded yesterday and I had no trouble at all! In the past two weeks I have looked at DOZENS of guides and websites with downloads and information, and this one is the easiest to follow that I've seen. If a rookie like me can do it, anyone can.

Thanks again!

Thank you very much for your response!

I have tried everything in the troubleshooting, and have still not met with any success.
I have now tried 3 different computers running Windows XP (Not 64 Bit)
It shouldn't be one of the new motherboards, as it only has 3.95 on it. (And it's definitely never been downgraded)
I can confirm that the Datel Tool battery works fine. I have used it to hack other PSPs before this instance.
The memory card I'm using is a Sony brand 1gig Mark 2. I have also tried with a SONY 4gig Mark2, and had equal failings. Both sticks have now been tried on all 3 computers.

I have also tried using an earlier version of the installer you have provided, just to see if it'd work, and it did not.

If you have any more thoughts on what might be wrong, I'd really appreciate it.
Again, thank you for the help!

The PSP-3000 has been hacked, but there are some set backs. Take a look!

I may have not made myself clear. I tried 4 different PCs and my when I insert the battery, which I use the pandora guide to make, into the PSP with 3.95 firmware the green light comes on automatically and then nothing. I have the MMS which I made using your guide in the psp as well. I dont know if this pandora battery that was made using the guide works on the original firware, but it doesnt work on either of the PSP the Custom or the original. Any insight on this will be helpful. Thanks again

Read this. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/55/610313#4172594

Please read the other pages within the thread I am directing you to. That thread was closed due to repetitive questions such as the one you are currently making. This guide is real clear like the coastline of Hawaii. Your making it real difficult for other users to respond because they are only wasting keystrokes upon topics that have been already solved if they were to respond. That's what I am doing right now, just wasting my keystrokes.

All I can suggest is follow the guide and trouble shooting section. If you still have issues then there is really no other advice I can give. Either the Magic Memory Stick/Pandora Battery is not created properly or you have a new PSP motherboard that can not be modded.

I can't magically make it work for users that have issues. I can only suggest what could be the problem and it is up to you to figure out what the problem is and correct it.

Do I have to have 2 batteries to install pandora on my one of them? I already have a magic memory stick, I just need to know if I'd better buy one from daxtel for like $10, or if I can save it lol.

Another question that can be answered if the guide is read.

This is getting ridiculous. Read the guide and past post. This has been covered numerous times already.

There is 3 previous post that explain how to create the Pandora Battery with whatever firmware you have on the PSP. Not including the guide itself. So read the previous post and the Pandora Battery section again.

If you do not know the difference between 1.50, custom firmware (CFW) or Official firmware (OFW) then you need to do a little more research on the PSP scene before going any further.

1) yes

2) It will downgrade, and then install CFW

3) Slims can't support OFW 1.50.

This is a well instructed guide. All double checking does is make repetitive questions asked over and over again. To anyone that is planing on modding your PSP spend a little time reviewing the terms used in the PSP scene and try learning as much as you can (BY READING PREVIOUS THREADS AND STICKIES) before attempting any of this.

This way you will be confident with yourself and the ability to MOD your PSP properly without asking for confirmation or double checking before hand.

Thanks for this guide man
YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had made an old pandora and magic MMS using one of the older harder methods about a year ago (when every step was done manually)

My MMS wasn't working so I tried this guide, worked great and EASY AS PIE!!

Great job, and thanks again
