Nice! Congrats man. Let me know if you have any luck with error 0102 consoles.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

will do, going to mess around with a dead board just to get the temps dialed in. and need to pic up another thermocoupler as i only have one, and would like one for both top and bottom of the board.

Same exact setup i have (pic of mine is in my sig), though i went to the hardware store and bought some longer bolts so i can use them as studs to mount the board. I actually use nuts to secure the board to the preheater.
You want to use kester 951 flux and have a generic heat profile to get you started. So i'll give you mine, though we have the same setup things may differ a little.
Before you do anything remove the screw on the bottom of your machine, you don't want to turn on the machine with this screw still securing the pump.
------
First you want to apply flux under the gpu, then before you mount the board make sure to take the pads on the ram off the bottom. Then you can mount the board, setup your nozzle and begin.
Set the preheater to "220C" and let it heat up for at least 5 minutes. You want to get the board to about 200F. You'll actually smart smelling the flux when it gets hot enough (it smells like nail polish). I use a digital infared temp gun to verify the board temps so i know 5 mins is about the right time.
Next you want to 0 your air and turn on the reflow machine. Then you can turn up the air to "5" and let the machine heat for a couple minutes at it's lowest setting "90C".
After a couple minutes at "90C" you can raise the temp to "195C". Stay at "195C" for a couple minutes.
Now you want to turn of the preheater and slowly raise the temps up to 300C. Raise the temps slowly by pressing the up arrow every second (it's about 3C a second).
Now you want to hold "300C" for about 30 seconds, when the 30 seconds are up slowly lower the temps to about "220C" then you can hold the down arrow till you're back at "90C".
Let the machine idle at 90C for a minute and then turn it off. You want to let the board cool for about 20 minutes. I usually wait 10 minutes then move the nozzle up so it cools down a little quicker.
I pretty much do this in my sleep now so you'll get used to this process after a few times. The flux plays a very important role to make sure your reflows last. If you reflow without flux you'll have a lot of consoles returned to you (as modking knows). Using the wrong flux will completely botch your repair and destroy any chance of fixing that particular motherboard.
I've used my reflow machine on laptop boards and even a video card.
You can see it here
DC Jack Repair
Cap Replacement
The machine is pretty versatile and i've never really had any problems with it. Just remember if you're soldering a rol board or a 360 controller you want to turn the iron to the lowest setting. Anything higher will lift the pads.
Hope you find this info useful.

Not 100% for rework stations, but if your doing a poor mans reflow (heatgun) then use liquuid flux with a shringe and it will drip under the CPU & GPU. Would explain why your getting returns.
@Wabash, v nice reflow station. Wish you were in the UK :D

Just make sure its kester 951 and you got the right stuff. I used acid liquid flux for the first 3 360's i did and destroyed them all (lesson learned).
I actually bought a gallon of kester 951 for $40, it's goin to take me a long time to go though a gallon i'm sure.
http://www.wassco.com/Products/Kester-95...S-01-02160.aspx
Here's a video that shows you how to flux under the bga chips, you can use flux under any of the bga chips, it's completely safe. Usually you only need to apply flux under the gpu though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2R_NqF5wAc
I have a few different suringes filled with different chemicals (concentrated isopropyl, kester 951,acid flux), this is also how i apply the flux.
Here's where i got everything i needed besides the right flux.
http://store.sra-solder.com/product.php/6048/7 - these are the syringes i use.
You need the syringe, plunger, stopper, tip and maybe a cap. I ended up ordering 10 of each because they were so cheap.

before you reflow it
The flux helps clean the solder points and distribute the heat. If you never used flux before try to solder something with rosin flux from radio shack. It's a yellow paste that's kind of like grease but when you heat it, it instantly turns into a liquid. I've had to use rosin flux for motherboard repairs.

Like i said before i use kester 951, if you use anything else you'll probably botch your repair.

Similar setup to the one I have except for the rework station I have the 2702A+ I started on January 1st don't use flux have a bottle there but have never used it no thermocoples either.I've been sucessful on 92 out of 98 boards the 6 that didn't work have been messed with by someone else they all had a lifted corner on the GPU if the corner is lifted it's unfixable from my experinece. I've had 6 returns only 1 didn't come back to life. I 12v the fans on every board and use aluminum tape on the heatsinks and try to cover the openings on the fan shroud the best I can to create a better suction so far so good very pleased with the results anyone interested in relowing should read the post on the link below I got all my info from that post.

I picked up the 2702a+ back around then also. I like it.
I use to have a big ir unit, but we had just sold our house and bought a new one, and all my 360 work was on hold, so I wasn't using the ir unit and I sold it. I didn't want to be completely without a rework station, so I picked up the 2702 because it was cheap. I figured if my 360 work ramped back up I would just pick up another ir unit, but this 2702 actually works really nice.
For liquid flux, I just use a q tip. Dab it in the bottle, hold your board at an angle, and press the q tip between the edge of the chip and the board. Holding the board at an angle lets the flux flow under the chip. And just keep doing that until you see it start to flow out from under the other side.

c4rn1--
heres the profile i was going to use, was found on the massive llama thread that symbax posted (page 13 i believe).
Quote: I heat the motherboard for 5 minutes at 350F. I then warm the GPU/CPU with the lowest setting on the Hot Air Rework at 90C. for 1 minute. Then I turn up the temp to 195C to boil the flux for about 1 minute. I then turn off the hot plate. I then step up on tempurature, (about 3C) every second till 350C. Hold at 350C for 10second then step down to 290C. I then turn temp down all the way to 90C as fast as the counter will go down. It is VERY important that you not bump or bound or shake the motherboard, table or floor when the BGA is at reflow. Solder bridges can happen. It must cool for 15 minutes before you move it. You might need an exhaust fans for the fumes from the flux.
The BGA nozzle should not touch the motherboard, but the closer the better. I made a frame to hold the air gun out of 2"x4" wood. Drilled a hole and mounted a set screw to make it adjustable.
On E-74 and no video (but sound) reflow the ANA chip also. I always reflow both CPU and GPU.
Air flow is set at 5. too high of air flow can blow small components loose.
also, glad you posted as i was trying to figure out how the preheater could be placed on the stand so i could read the lcd and have the nozzles hit the right chips, didnt thing about turning the board sideways like that. and deffinitely will use the flux, got some 951 off ebay as you did, 7 bucks for 3 'larger' bottles. not really sure what the seller was smoking the day he packaged them up as i only bought 1, but he sent me 3 anyways, so props to him. link for what i got is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140394841031
hopefully will have time to try fixing a board later this week, if not tomorrow.
as for modkings comments, i think ill just ignore them since he obviously wasnt following the proper methods when using the station so his posts are not worth discussing.

I remember reading somewhere not to go over 300C, i forget where it was though. Here's the reflow video i used as a reference when i bought my machine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTi7kolmPGQ
I actually made my own video the other day but still have to edit it out, because it took about 20 mins. I'll throw it in my sig when i'm done.

thats the same video i have book marked! and i recall reading something about not going over 300C as well, but everyone on llamas site thats used that profile said it works perfect or as near as perfect as you would suspect. just need to get another thermal-couple lead as i only have one right now, and want one for both the top and bottom of the board.

That's the one I use page 13 Chiefs profile. I Preheat at 250C for 10 min then start up the gun
100c 1min
190c 1min
250c 1min
300c 30sec
350c 20sec
376c 20sec
go up in temps at 1 click per sec = 2 degrees
after 376c go down to 200c 2 clicks per sec = 4 degrees the to 100 as fast as it will go at this point I turn off the preheater and once the gun hits 100c turn that off as well I wait 20 to 30 min before touching the board. Also make sure your preheater and gun are on different platforms cuz pressing the buttons on the gun will cause some movement and if you have them both on the same table you might bridge some connections. Any question I'd be glad to share what I've leaned so far.
