Step 7: Start WAD Manager (Launch it using HBC).

Select IOS249 for installer.

Select SD Card as device to mount.

There is only 1 WAD listed ?CIOS60BF.wad? so install it.

After it has installed press home.

Exit out of the Homebrew Channel.

The Wii System will now have a ?SYSTEM DATA IS CORRUPT" error message but do not worry.

Step 8: Turn off the Wii System. Turn it on then hold the reset button to launch into Preloader.

When the Preloader menu comes up go to ?Launch the Hombrew Channel? in the menu list.

Now go to Preloader .29 Installer and install it again.

After it reboots you System Menu should come up as normal and you are finished with the guide.

After following the instructions and reinstalling the preloader .29. All I get is the same screen ?SYSTEM DATA IS CORRUPT" and it is all jumbled up in the main window. I can hold the reset and go to the HBC but no systemmenu. What happened? Is this fixable?

Possibly a stupid question, but are you sure that preloader .29 reinstalled correctly? I would attempt to install it again and just watch when it installs to make sure it installed correctly. I have had some things screw up when they install and because I was too "click happy" I missed the error message. Preloader .29 is a quick install, but slow enough that you should have time to read everything on the screen. If this isn't the case, did you back up your NAND after installing bootmii? If so, you could try restoring it and retry this tutorial... I followed it mostly (everything except for the 4.1 stuff... I had a different updater... I will post what I used later, but using that other method I still had to re-do everything following this tutorial to get it to work).

This is wierd...
I was unable to get into the preloader and switch the OS to 35. Now the Wii Channels return? I still cannot load any DVDs or original games now. This is one problem after another?

What settings in the preloader should they be set at exactly.

Now switching the IOS in the Preloader has now gave me back the ability to play my games again. So far all is fine.
Now I am trying to figure out what and how to RIP an original to my USB drive.

Did you install cMIOSrev3?

If you didn't or even if you did try installing it again.

Read the guide. The title of the thread should also give you a clue.

If you didn't or even if you did try installing it again.
Just downloaded it and installed it but the gamecube still crashes what could i be doing wrong? It asked me if I wanted to install Original, or Custom cMIOS over network I chose all of them and still nothing. Sigh.

Just a thought, but are you sure you are using the right disks (dvd-r) and that the backup was successful (ie didn't burn too fast, didn't create a bad iso, etc)? Do you have any original gamecube games you could try to see if it is gamecube in general or just bakcups? and are you playing a game that matches the region of your wii (ie PAL game on a PAL wii or NTSC game on an NTSC wii)?

I installed through the guide and the directions were perfect!
I didnt try playing a game yet, first i wanted to backup my system, but when I tried to install bootmii after all this the hackmii installer gives me an error saying,

"This installer can NOT continue!

There is no known vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii.
Please note that we will not use a fakesigned IOS due to security reasons."

I am using the most recent version of Bootmii, so what can I do??

Thanks!

now i read the beginning of the guide and I see that I can't install Bootmii after cioscorp.
So how can I go back to install bootmii and then start over?
(can I use the same sd card? or does it have to be clean? I only have one right now)

Just start at the Any Region Changer section of the guide. After you downgrade back to 3.2 install Bootmii. Then you can proceed with the rest of the guide like normal.

had the HBC Beta 9 and twilight hack v0.1 and everything worked fine, i then decided to update to the 4.1 mod, then complete this one, followed the instructions to a T and it seemed like everthing worked as planned.

But now i get an error for every disc, even real ones. Error 972 in gamma... any suggestions?

i tried going back to 3.2 using any region changer, then redid the steps again and still nothing...

anything to do with having twilight on previously?

Nope. Gammaloader is just outdated. You need to be using NEOGamma r6 which is included in Larrylje's softmod guide. Follow the entire guide HERE

Do everything exactly as it is written. If done properly, and in order, everything will be working great with NEOGamma R6 and you can just delete the old gamma channel.

sorry i should have specified. I did follow the softmod guide, but only from what you needed to do for the update since i already had HBC. I have NEOgamma R6, that is the program that gives me the error 972

In the guide, did you do IOSdowngrader at the end to enable the Trucha Exploits? If not, do that too.

In NeoGamma R6 did you enable .002 and force NTSC in the settings before trying to play the disc? If not, try running the game with those settings turned on.

What type of discs are you using? You should only be using DVD-R discs of reasonable quality. Do not use cheap-o DVD-R's , no DVD+r and no DVD +\- RW's of any kind. If you are using anything other than the correct discs or are burning them faster, then they might play sometimes, but not others or not at all. Save yourself the hassle and just use the right discs.

Also make sure you are burning your games very slowly... 2.4x or 4x only. No faster than that or you risk data corruption during the write process.

whelp, you need to enable .002 in NeoGamma loader and it sounds like you have not done that. so after you recomplete the entire softmod, do that and let us know the results.

Despite being able to play the games before, and not being able to now if you're not using DVD-R's and burning them slowly, you're on your own. The type of media you use and the speed you burn them at means everything. Can you confirm what type of discs you're using and how fast they were burned? If you do everything else and still have the problem, but are using something other than DVD-R that had a good .iso and was burned slowly, then I can't offer anymore help until you make the effort to try. You're the one with the problem, and i'm trying to help here.

Follow the guide on the first page.

System menu 290 is for 3.2 firmware. The hacks.ini file that was included in this guide is for 4.1 firmware not 3.2 firmware.
