hi i havent read the whole thread, my apologies but it is huge! but just wanted abit of advice really..
i have a linuxsat 500s (which i think is the same as a dreambox 500s?)
and i already pay a sub to shy....
what i want to know is can i use the 500s to almost act as multi-room with my shy box?
i do have a 1 metre motorised dish (seperate from shy dish) so can i also get the foriegn channels on my 500s also?
how easy/hard is this to sort out...i cant seem to find a turorial on here?..

if you want multiroom you need boxes that can talk to each other. the sky box cannot talk to the dreambox. for multiroom you would need to buy another dreambox, put your sky card in one of the dreamboxes and share that card to the other dreambox. the sky box goes into storage as it is no use for multiroom. alternatively get sky to install multiroom for you with a second sky box

Forgot to answer the second part of your question. Yes the dreambox can be connected to your second dish. Just do a scan and pick up whatever freesat is available on the satellite you are pointing at. Maybe this is the easiest way forward. Have two boxes in the same room both supplying channels from different satellites

thanks for your quick reply and help...
i wont be buying another dreambox 500s id rather pay the extra £10 a month to shy and have shy+, as multi-room.
i was trying to sort out my 500s a while ago and some guy suggested i put "PLI JADE" onto it...which i did...but thats as far as i got...
i havent done any scan or anything like that, as i dont even know what it is to be honest, or how it works...
can i use this PLI JADE software to help pick up the channels you talked about?

Another 500 clone costs about 50 eurons on dealextreme, not a bad purchase!

well i never managed to get the boxes sharing in my house or otherwise. i started the day with another warning from dyndns(yellow status)all i did was switch on the computer. tried to follow your advice fint and another person also ,so i went back and had a look at my cccam configs and made a few changes. i rebooted the 2 boxes in my house and the server box came back on fine buy the share box is stuck with (nabilo)flashing on and off.havent had much luck with this cs lark.

Piopat, this is strange. For starters CCCAM does not kill your box. The amount of processor it is taking up is minimal in comparison to the more ordinary tasks the box does. So my suggestion is to consider reflashing both boxes with a different image. You most likely know the options. I've recently played with an Open Pli image and got a 7 day EPG working. Took ages and hard work but its in place. I'm surprise that Nabilo is giving issues on your 500. I have Nabilo 0.11 on my DM800 and it is the coolest thing ever. But I have had issues with Nabilo on my 500s so maybe you should go the same direction I have gone. Don't pack it in. I've been through the pain and am willing to help. Try the Open Pli and let me know

yed i figured id need to reflash,that said i have not heard anything bab about nabilo. gary did you reflash with the same image or did you change it. thanks fint well i got to admit its got me pulling my hair out(and thats already on the thin side)ill keep trying .

piopat, good point. reflash with the same image. at least you are used to it. if it still is an issue maybe you were just unlucky with the version you downloaded. just try a different version. the only reason i didn't use nabilo on my 500 was because the sat epg on the image is extremely poor. and at the end of the day its not only about watching tv, its also about having a decent epg. no tv guide and its a pain. open pli offers that solution which is why i use it over gemeni, nabilo, oozoon etc. I've tried them all. I'm just a sad git who likes the best solution even if it does take a bit of time

ill reflash in the morning and see if that sorts it,as you say fint if there is still an issue with nabilo ill have to change it.what i would like is just to get it flashed and get the cs up and running,and then think about other images etc, as i do enjoy tinkering about with the dm and learning something new.

i relashed with another nabilo image, the image worked ok ,i went through installation and downloaded cccam 2.1.3 via the addons(and replaced 2.1.2)this said try as i did i could not get cccam to work or check via yellow button if the box could see my server. so i did a flash erase and went back to the first nabilo image,went through the installation process and got cccam 2.1.3 via addons and installed it,i put my cccam.cfg file back in to the var/etc file and i changed the flines and clines to make the server box(the share box) and to make the share box)the server box)and i changed the setting in the router and altered the server ips to suit.i saved and rebooted,but still not working. by the way i figured out why dyndns is giving me yellow status warnings,for simply switching my router on.

You are using the yellow button to check CCCAM status. Do you have CCCAMINFO plugin installed? Did you activate port 16001 in your CCCAM.cfg file. If so can you look at this at 192.168.xxx.xxx:16001 and see what this says. Also telnet into the server and type CCcam
?dv and see what the log says. Post the results back here

guys i have a 800s dreambox, i thinh it is only a single tuner, as i live in dublin i was wondering about the analogoe signal(rte1,2,3,4)can i connect them into the dreambox or does the cable connect directly to the tv thus having to use 2 remotes? thanks

well i think you can only use your aerial to get rte by putting it into back of tv as you suggested but you dont necessarily have to use 2 remotes you can use your dm800 to operate tv and dreambox.

Piopat, try the following Fline F: user1 pass1 2 0 0 { 0:0:2 } in your server cccam.cfg and reboot the dreambox.

also to use the cccam -dv command you need to telnet to/var/etc. then do ls-l and check the name of the cccam executable. it is likely cccam.213 in which case the command is cccam.213 -dv. So you telnet into the box using root and dreambox as username and password. Then you type cd /var/etc/. The you type cccam.213 -dv.

Morning all. Firstly, a brilliant forum with excellent posters.
I've recently purchased a 500s and have followed the setup guides to a tee, however still unable to pick up freeview channels. Whenever I search for transponders, none are found. Gemini 4.6 image installed and network connection is also up as I can search for updates via blue button. I'm sure I've downloaded the correct add-ons also.
I'd appreciate any help as to what I could be doing wrong.

Check satellites.xml file in /var/etc and make sure it has valid transponders in it. Are you sure your sat dish is correctly positioned

fint thanks for your help and any one else that helped i have the box sharing in the house no probs,i had a mac address conflict(seems a problem with all clones having the same mac) so i sorted that out,next thing now is sharing with my mate.i was thinking i was a real thick,its a great feeling to have it done.
