I like to think of myself as an independent, I like John McCain and I'd vote for him and he's a Republican.

I also like McCain. He's the closest thing we have to a statesman in this country right now.
On another note...I got another copy of War and Peace, and no problem with the rip.

It's one of those movies that would be good to put on dual layer...or run through CCE 3 or 4 times.
I've been looking for a link that someone posted where there were some of the older movies that were released into the public domain, and they could be downloaded. Did anyone make a note of it?

Couldn't resist that Greenhouse effect situation. Guess we need to kill off all those flatulent cows. ;)
Some of the best scientists can't really tell if it is truly a greenhouse effect or climatic shifts. Our Earth has undergone drastic climate changes over the eons. One only has to look back to the Roman Empire to see the drastic change in the African continent. Where there was beautiful gardens and lush vegetation, there is now only desert. That was one of the worst climate changes in recorded history. Much worse than changes we're currently seeing.
Then of course, there is the proof of the ice age. Before that was the time of the dinosaurs and the warm to tropical environment that was required for their survival. Now that must have been one heck of a climate change. Then of course the Ice Age ended and it got warm enough for life to thrive again. What a climate change again. Greenhouse effect or just a climate shift? Some of the best scientific minds are still pondering that one.
Getting back on track, maybe they'll make a movie and we can do a backup. Which transcoding software would be the best to use? ;)

Both sides could be argued, that's for sure. As long as we have Nature around to give the rap to, though, we never have to take responsibility for our actions. And that's the real issue.

More to the point, if you believe climate changes are natural, you will be hired by the government.

Let me try this one.
Four hurricanes struck Florida in less than two months and all of them were major hurricanes. Coincidently that's also why I'm up still posting, I won't sleep until I know its final track.

A lot of hurricanes in one season as proof of climate change or greenhouse effect (usually associated), maybe. Scientists researching weather patterns note they appear to be cyclic. A similar weather pattern was noticed back in the 50s and 60s of the past century. The greenhouse effect wasn't nearly as bad then.

Here's the thing. Yes, all these sources of methane contribute to the greenhouse effect. The fact is, we need the greenhouse effect. What we don't need is to upset the balnace that Nature has achieved. To bring it closer to home, we can chow down to a fat, juicy steak and baked potato with gobbs of butter and sour cream once in a while...but if we did that every night, it would cause havor with our circulatory system, and we would have an early death. My take is that our actions are upsetting the equalibrium of Nature.

Actually, I think these 4 hurricanes aren't coincidental...I think 4 butterflys got together in South Africa ... and decided to flap their wings to test the Chaos theory.

Actually its the cow flatulence along with the removal of forests for their pastures that are a significant contributor.

Overall, man's existence has been in opposition to nature from the beginning. Man has always tried to utilize what was available for his benefit from the earliest times. Just more people today speeding up the process. And more cattle and farming processes along with industry to make the situation what it is.

Probably not. I don't really see much disagreement. I was only bringing in the far side that people don't usually pay attention to. Have a good rest and I hope the hurricanes stay out of your neighborhood.
BTW, stay out of the pastures, the gas will get you. ;)

Brobear...that is certainly the truth. I haven't watched The Matrix in a while, but one line that has stayed with me was when the guy in dark glasses compared human being to a virus ... "...they will continue to consume until there is nothing left to consume."

We really weren't in a disagreement, we were merely presenting different aspects of the same situation.

brobear...it was fun. I also appreciated your links. I did read them, and they were humorous. Anyway, I think it is OK to disagree (as long as it is done respectfully). If you really think about it, disagreement is how issues get raised, and how problems get recognized, and how we move forward. Without disagreement, we would be lost. However, if your wife disagrees with you, that is a different matter. That is usually called an argument because the wife simply refuses to look at the facts.
