When I get Ned Kelly I'll certainly give it a go.

6402....as will i, and I have also DL'd anydvd beta.

Doc, I do not think this is a production error but an intentional procedure. Too many people complaining of it. Besides which 6402...used anydvd to get around it, which is what it's purpose is.

It would be a coincindence to big in my mind that they would have a production error that just "happens" to prevent DVD backup.

It's an old trick. They've used it on floppy discs, then on CD-ROMs, on Playstation CDs -- so why would DVDs be any different? The funny part is that it is ridiculously easy to get defeat... silly rabbits -- tricks are for kids!

jdobbbs, did you ever recall how you got around the problem? I am going to try beta anydvd tonite as 6402... suggested when I sign off, but was just wondering in case that doesn't work.

I just tested Ned Kelly with 3.5.1 DVDdecrypter and it will rip VOB 1_3 alone if you have an actual 1x speed. It won't rip normally even though it does slow down when it comes to the bad part.

Bigorange,
I didn't see that you verified in the DVDdecrypter log that the DVD drive actually ran at 1x. It will say starting at 1x but then the log will show the ! and state a different speed. You might try a different drive if you have one.

I saw reference to Ned Kelly and the 1_3 VOB problem on the DVDdecrypter forum. No resolution was indicated.

6402...well the only other drives I have are my writers, which I don't like to read with, but if I use the beta anydvd, shouldn't that get around the problem?

With the beta Anydvd I still couldn't rip at full speed without erroring on the problem VOB.

Try the rip at 1x on your burner. Check the DVDdecrypter logs for actual speed.

I stopped using DVD-rom drives some time ago. There isn't enough difference in price to actually buy a drive without burn capabilities anymore.

I've checked and both of my drives will read at 1X (which means bigos Plex will too) so that will be an option when I get Ned Kelly in. If you guys remember my efforts with DareDevil then you know I won't quit until I get it figured out.

6402....My DVD-ROM drive came with my Dell and since not reading with your writer does prolong your burner's life, that's why I use my DVD-ROM drive. However no biggie, I can use my plextor or my dc4000 for this time.

So you actually tried it with beta anydvd and it didn't work without going to 1x?

I don't use my burner for ripping either but a burner has better reading capabilities than does a standard reader because of its burning requirement.

Yes, it still requires the slowdown to rip. You can just rip the 1 vob slow then copy the rest at normal speed.

Did bigfoot care? Or did he intentionally get a bigger one than brobears?
