Oh, because I'm in the U.S. of A. Hmm...also, is your PStwo's date code 4C then? If so, that could (maybe) be one explanation for the problem(s) you're experiencing.
The reason I'm kinda hesitant about getting a fliptop is because it's so damn expensive. But, I do have faith in them, nonetheless.

Thx!!!

hello the only thing i can think of is
if your normal games are working and you back ups are not is that the tape has come off which happens becasue of the heat in the pstwo and i have seen some where i think its on this forum that where the switch is if you move it around till the lazer starts moving because you might have broken a connection under the switch and you need to solder it but the best way now is to get the new clips that are out or fliptop i think
hope this helps feedback to let everyone know how you fixed your problem

No DVD or CD works. Doesn't matter if it is a backup or an original, as the disc doesn't even spin.
I have opened it and removed the tape, and while I had it open I played a little with it. Both switches are working ok. If I push them down and turn the PSTwo on the laser moves up and down its course trying to find a DVD/CD. If I let go of any of the switches the laser goes back to its original position, since it "knows" the disc tray was open. But the disc never, under any circumstances, spins so it won't read anything.
Is this the normal behaviour of a burnt out laser?

Alright so I got the fliptop Monday and now it's Thursday. It came with the 3.3 discs and I got it from GoCyber located in Canada. Cheapest red lable shipping I've seen around $14 for next day air out of country. Anyway first off the new 3.3 discs Suck Ass
THUG2
NFSU2
Samurai Warriors Extreme Legend
Silent Hill 4
GTA San Andreas
a couple more I can't remember off the back
Won't boot with the new 3.3 All these games work on my older system v7. a couple of them boot but they skip like mad and are completely unplayable. I got THUG2 and NFSU2 to boot with the 2.0 disc. I'll double check the rest with the same.
That problem I stated on an earlier page about the 2.0 disc grinding like mad in the system was my own fault. I didn't push the disc all the way past the little clips on the cd spinning thing.
The 3.3's do boot double protected games like Splinter Cell, The Suffering and Soul Calibur 2 without using the swapmagicfix cdloader. It does not boot Street Fighter Anniversary Collection though I've never been able to boot this on anything with the cdloader v7 beta 5.3 (It boots and plays the intro but won't go any further)
Anybody else having problems booting particular games with the 3.3 on the v12?
Greetings

I have perfect backups of NFSU2, GTASA and Street Fighter Anniversary Edition. They all work with no skips and regular load times.
I'm not sure why you are having a problem, but I really don't think its the SM3.3 discs, unless you have bad discs.
I'm using Sony DVD+R's and DVD Decrypter and 1x burn, I don't know what else to say. Maybe you are having a media or burn issue, who knows.

Just out of curiosity, do PS2 DVDs have any sort of special protection? Or do you simply rip in ISO mode with DVD Decryptor? After that, do you burn it back with the same program? I'd like to know, seeing as I plan to use the same setup that you use. PSTwo, SM 3.3, with the exception that I plan on buying a lid (I can get them in a combo for less than $40 USD so it's not that much)
