MPT kept crashing and asking insert disc containing CAlEngine.dll and wouldnt go to where i knew the file was when i clicked the directory i knew it was in. So after much frustration i finaly got it to work when u navigate to the place the file gets stuck on during installation and click next it dosent do anything but up at he top where it says (C:\programfiles\motorola phone tools 3\addons u know then u add to that the slash ( \ ) then the file its stuck on then hit next so basicly copy the stuck file and extension then paste it where u navigate too i hope i wrote clearly enoug and that i helped cuz it worked for me... whoopee

Hello all,

I purhased a generic usb data cable. I have Mot V300. I have downloaded mobile phone tools and upgraded to version 3.28. somehow I can see v300 phone image on screen.

my problem is , when I attach my usb cable to computer (windows XP SP2) i get a message saying, "usb device not recognized"

I can't even see "motorola usb modem" under modems(when i go to device manager)

I have downloaded P2K drivers but, they do not install themselves, and here nobody gives any direction to how they are to be installed.??? anyway I dont know how

Help??? much appreciated

OK this is a follow-up the original MPT version 3.00 that I downloaded worked on my laptop at home. so maybe the usb ports on this office comp has problem. anyway all I ever wanted to transfer images to my comp. so it works. thanx to you who post messages here.

copied from mobile 9 forum

EVERYONE WITH A V3 RAZR LISTEN UP. If you guys or gals are having problems with the MPT Initializing... your phone, I have figured out how to do it. I have Windows XP SP2.

Before you start any of this, make sure that your phone is not plugged into the USB connection. Make it seem as if the phone and the computer were never together.

1. Go to Control Panel-->System-->Hardware-->Device Manager.
2. Expand "Modems" and make sure that there are not any unusual modems under the expanded category. In other words, only ONE should be installed and it should be the modem that is in your computer, nothing else.
3. Download and Install MPT v3.11. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL YOUR PHONE. When it asks to detect your phone, click cancel.
4. The default phone picture will come up. Now, go to Menu-->Setup-->Live Update. Follow the prompts to detect, download and install MPT v3.25b.
5. Do not launch MPT. Make sure the program is closed.
6. NOW, plug your phone into your computer via the mini-USB cable. Your computer should detect "New Hardware." Your computer will prompt you to install the software. It will ask you if you want the computer to search for you (Recommended) or it will ask you if you want to manually select the software from a list (Advanced). Make sure you go to the option that allows you to select from a list.
7. It will ask you to search your computer hard drive. You need to direct it to the driver that comes in the MPT v3.25b you just installed. Click BROWSE. The folder you are looking for is titled "W2K_XP_USB_Drivers". It will most likely be in "C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Inf".
8. Once you have directed the computer to search for the driver in "W2K_XP_USB_Drivers", click on INSTALL or NEXT to continue with the "search and installation" of the phone. It should say "Motorola USB Modem" as it is installing.
9. Allow the entire process to complete. Once it is done and you have clicked FINISH, unplug your phone from the USB cable and power it OFF.
10. Turn your phone back on and allow it to cycle to the main screen.
11. Plug your USB cable back into your phone and make sure it is connected to the computer. Your phone should start charging.
12. NOW, start MPT and and the program should automatically detect your phone and start the initiallizing. In a few seconds you should be up and running.

Now if it gets stuck in initializing, do the following:
From Stink:
As it trying to initializing for ever just click on menu icon-->setup-->general setup F6--> comunication--> modem exchange--> choose form list--> on your left select motorola GSM on your right seclect your fone model click finish it will work now

On mine, I coudln't even find the 'Live Update' button under Menu -> Setup. It just had two options and Live Update wasn't one of them, for an odd reason.

Am I suppose to go to the control panel and do all that modem stuff before hand? If so, then I should try that and then see if it can have a Live Update. Currently, my computer can read my V3, as it says 'Battery Charging' or whatever when I plug it into my computer, but it's just that the MPT can't read it...

I have a motorola razor v3 and installed mobile phone tools. The first couple days it worked fine. I can edit all my mp3 files and transfer them to my cell. But suddenly I couldn't even play mp3 file from mobile phone tools. If I try to save the file as mp3, a windows will pop up saying"failed to create file"! Other than that, I can make wav.file just fine. So is image transfer...Can anyone help me???Why is it I can't play mp3 file anymore??? Thanks.

MPT is a real pain. They should design a program thats easier to use, cause this is rediculous
