so pat2005, are you saying you have got a backup of GT4 working ??
if so it must be the older ps2 chips that are the problem as I have tried exact same discs and file that you said...and it doesnt work

I presume then that it was burned as a multi-session disc Pat ?

I guess some people have gotten a backup game of GT4 that works. I've been trying to find/get a backup version of this game that does work, but I got nothing. *sigh* The people that have the backup game are lucky. Oh-well. So yeah Pat is it a multi-session disc by chance? It's just very interesting how you could get it to work when I think most people couldn't.
Thanks :-)

Huh ?

Ive had no luck here :( ..... My USA PS2 doesnt play any DVD+R though so im shit out of luck there. It wont play a regular DVD+R or a DL DVD+R. I hope someone finds a way to Rip it to DVD5, I was bored and I opened a few of the files off GT4 in a hex editor and there are a bunch of references to different layers of the disc, So looks like we would need to find a way to extract GT4.VOL and also relink a bunch of stuff.

Hi...

I have GT4 Jap. version (download via net; gant version) and .iso file has 6,16 GB (6.615.728.128 bytes). As i dont have DL Writer i played a little bit with my .iso file and opened it with WinRAR. After i extract it (yes, you can do that with .iso extension) the file became exactly 4gb big! Now thats somethin I can burn with my regular DVD-RW! It is burning right now! So there are 2 posible explanations: 1st. We all have faked versions of GT4. 2nd. GT4 isn't DVD9 after all...

P.S. - While DL GT4, it was splited into 57 files, each had a size of 95,3MB (100.000.000 bytes). It was named: PS2 Gran Turismo4 JAP FULLDVD9 NO PASS[1] [Japanese] and it had: 5.25 GB (5635755351 bytes)

Sorry guys
False Alarm. I tried to load it dozen times, but no good! However, strange thing hapenes. It acts like it has passed to PlayStation logo, but instead of logo, screen flickers a little bit (as usual when i put some other game) and i get black screen. After 5 sec. it puts me to browser where i can see my memory card (as usual) and CD (in this case DVD :). I can press X (Enter) on CD, and it repeats the proces again. The screen flickers, black screen, and back to the browser :(
However, i mount .iso and I also got information that DVD that i mounte it is 4gb... in Nero, when i try to burn it, i need DL, cause it needs 6,16gb... same with alcohol...
I dont know... can u send me some feedback on ur versions. I can try to put it on 1dvd. I did the same thing with MGS Snake eater. The proces needs 1 day of programing, but it is worth a try...

p.s. By the way, what modchip do u guys have. Mine is Pharelia, bought it from a local store and put it by myself. But when google a little bit trough internet, i found nothing about my mod chip...
Im desperate to play this game... :)

Correction... it was MGS Substance :)
I tought it was MGS3, but it was Substance, wich is the 2nd release of a 2nd part, with some more extra content. I didnt even played the game as it was for my friend...

I just bought MGS Substance. DAMN that game is hard to find.

I think everyone may as well give up with GT4. I've done a lot of reading and it sounds like the game is uncopyable. What with the apparent calls to different layers of the disk, the structure of the disk etc... Whatever Sony have done seems to have been pretty damn marvelous.

Now if the fuckers at Sony would just release the game, I could get my bloody pre-order.

Ok, I did exactly what paT2005 said and I do have that mds(9k) and mdf(5.9gig) and yes it's that asia version that suppose to work. I burn it with my LG 4163B DVD-Rewritable with a DVD+R DL Verbatim 8.5G 2.4x

But for some reason my mod PS2 and even my LG 4163B can't read it. I burn it at 2.4x. What am I doing wrong here? The only part I didn't understand from paT2005 is that "go to IMAGEBURASSITENT" part. Can't find that anywhere in Alcohol 120%. I use the Image Burning Wizard option.

Does it really matter at all what file you choose? ei mds or mdf? I mean when i use the image burning wizard only the mds file showup so i chose that file which is 9k but it recognize the mds file and makes it 5.8Gig. Do I have to select the mdf instead of the mds?

This is what is displayed from selecting the mdf(5.9g)
file:
Type: Unknown
Path: I:\BITTORRENT\GT4\
Name: GRANTURISMO4.mdf
Size: 5838.62 MB
Session: 1
Track: 1

Session 01:
Track 01: DVD, Length: 2989376(5.70 GB), Address: 000000

This is what is displayed from selecting the mds(9k)
file:

Type: Media Descriptor Image file
Path: I:\BITTORRENT\GT4\
Name: GRANTURISMO4.mds
GRANTURISMO4.mdf
Size: 5838.62 MB
Session: 1
Track: 1

Session 01:
Track 01: DVD, Length: 2989376(5.70 GB), Address: 000000

Is there any other setting that we should know of paT2005? The weird thing is that if my LG 4163B can't read the disk after the burn something is wrong. No error was shown during the burning.

No One can make a Full Copy Version of GranTurismo4

Because it has a complex Lock system which can makes people frustrate. So I think, before we solve the lock system, no one can do it.

Maybe someday, someone will solve it. but i don't believe it will come soon.

I just bought GT4 Chinese version from Lik-Sang and I have to say this is one of the bext racing game ever. Or maybe even the best. The 210 pages references guide is just super amazing. All colors and it shows some of the cars in details specs. However, the price is kinda high though but I think it worths it.

Anyways, I did downloaded 2 different isos of GT4 from some Chinese BT sites and as just like you guys, I can't get it to work. I have a LG 4166 16X DVD DL writer and Verbatim 2.4X DL disc and no luck. But I can confirmed that some of the PS2 modchips do work with DL backups. It just that the way it copied might need some work. If anyone can eventually copied on a DL disc and play it on a modded PS2, please let us know!! :)

Now, I think I need to go back to my little room and play some GT4...:)

Also, if anyone could post a save with all the cars and tracks unlock on www.gamefaqs.com, that would be super awesome~~!!!

Hey vr4falife,

don't use that .exe file. It's a virus, some kind of trojan. By the way, wher did u people find that asian version?

Once again for those who havent read through this (now massive) thread. All .ISO's have been nuked and do not work. No matter what you try to do to the DL iso version is will not work.

Buy the import one or wait for you region. Its well worth it. The P2P claimed fix is a trojan and should not be opened (dont even bother wasting bandwidth downloading it)

Hope Someone made the powerful lock of Gran Turismo4 cracked. So far, there seems to be no one made it, Burning DualLayer is not solution.

Does anyone know how to downsample a PS2 game? I'd try it if I knew how. If anyone does know how and would like to try it, that'd be great. Otherwise if you teach me I will try it.

Ok people,

I still have a version wich I dont know is it nuked or not, cause the iso has 6,16 GB, but when I mounte it, that same iso has only 3,72GB. At first i tought it was fake version I downloaded, but now, after 2 days, I've menaged to decripte and read some of the GT4.vol files. And there is a full list of GT4 Music inside.
So i need a feedback from u who have burn it/mount it to tell me your results on size of a burned/mounted image, so i dont waste my time on maybe a wrong version. I maybe can shrink music, which would be done with lots of programing, as there is no any other program available. The same theory worked for MGS Substance, as for DOA and Stuntman...
