I think that there aren't any problem on creating a working iso.....the problem is burning it in the right way so i think that some of the iso that you are downloading work.

Sorry for my orrible english

at least www-ps2ownz-com is gettin closer...the thing on my mind is...that all game makers are going to start doing this...and now its going to be a longer process of burning...

I don't think all game makers will actually do this. That revolutionary copy protection process is more than probably copyrighted, so game developers would have to pay royalties to use it. I assume not all game developers will be willing to pay such royalties, hence reduce their profit (if they want to keep the retail selling price identical).

Hi!

Dont know if this was already stated, but didnt saw it in this thread so here goes:

I made a backup from GT4 USA on my computer from an original. I used Nero and this made a .nrg of 5 190 221kb.

After that, i burned it, with Nero again at 4x, on a DVD9 (Verbatim DVD+R DL) like any other PS2 game i backed up...

The burning went well, no error, so i thought it was in the pocket until i tried it. I have a PS2 V4 with SwapMagic 3.3 and i tried to load the game with and without cd loader from swapmagicfix. Both of the methods didnt work, it said to me "ps2 disc not valid", not even starting the damn game... Why?

To check on my copy, i put in my computer and saw that to windows, it was only 2.5gb dvd. Wondering why, i backed up again, this time with Magic Iso and it did, in fact, make an iso of 2.5 gb. Still wondering, i made another backup, this time with Nero, and finally i had like the original backup, a .nrg of 5 190 221 kb.

Now, im stuck, i dont know what to do. My big question is why 2 programs make 2 different image of the same cd. Is it because of the double-layer? A protection? I dont know... Also, is it just my copy, must i try at a lower speed, although im reticent due to the price of each dvd+r dl?

Anybody has an idea, im clueless...

Tx!

i think that the GT disc by sony is double layer
1 layer containing the 2.51 gb and
2nd layer contain the rest in order to play it
so i'm thinkin we need something that will copy layer for layer.? just maybe

It's people like you who give up, and don't get us closer to a working rip! You're a disgrace!

Just kidding. Haha.
They had it for $37.99? That's a good price.

I'm thinking of laying down the cash for this game too. It's really good, it's probably worth the full $50.

i tried backing up gt 4 using a $7 memorex dl disc and it did not work. i do not think this game can be backed up but i may try the other two discs in the 3 pack which was 21 bucks down the drain. i think we should boycott gt 4 or at least wait until they sell it for 20 dollars.

They probably are laughing at us right now.
But I have a suggestion, and some questions.

How is PTP burned?
I know that it's filled from the inside out, and from the outside in for the second layer. Would it be at all possible to simply burn that second layer in backwards?

I mean, have a way using either a format or dummy files to fill in the outside, and then burn in backwards the data for the second layer?

Technically, this could be done using brute force. I mean, as a programmer, I don't have the knowledge to be able to do this, but couldn't you technically simply write a program that reads the last binary bit, first and output it into a file?

Then you burn it at the beginning of the inner layer.
You know, I might be able to do this myself, but it might be totally unnecessary to do this if someone can manage to get it down to a DVD5.

I mean, the full game is only about 600MB over the DVD limit.

The game is definitely worth buying. It's just plain amazing. Paying for 1 out of 200 isn't bad lol.

The problems stay when using Alcohol, I've tried but no succes... I think a software patch will be required to get the game to run on a copied DVD.

I think the problem is the location of certasin files on the DVD and I do not think this can be burned by local DVD writers. So i guess a new index file for this protection is requierd......

suggestions anybody?

hell all,

i just bought gran turismo 4 at wal-mart last night and so far the game is bad a$$. ive been reading this thread so i was quite disapointed when i heard its unburnable.

the videos in it are absolutly fantasic. can barley tell its computer generated. anyways here is some info, i dont know if its usful to anyone. but i burned an image using alcohol 120 and mounted it and here is what dvddecryptor had to say about the orginal disk:

PLEXTOR DVDR PX-712A 1.06 (ATA)
Current Profile: DVD-ROM

Disc Information:
Status: Complete
Erasable: No
Sessions: 1
Sectors: 2,594,960
Size: 5,314,478,080 bytes
Time: 576:41:35 (MM:SS:FF)

Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
Book Type: DVD-ROM
Part Version: 1
Disc Size: 120mm
Maximum Read Rate: 10.08Mbps
Number of Layers: 2
Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP)
Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit
Track Density: 0.74 um/track
First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608
Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 1,513,663
Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0

and this is wut dvddecryptor said about the mounted image of gt4:

AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a (SCSI)
Current Profile: DVD-ROM

Disc Information:
Status: Complete
Erasable: No
Sessions: 1
Sectors: 2,594,960
Size: 5,314,478,080 bytes
Time: 576:41:35 (MM:SS:FF)

Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
Book Type: DVD-ROM
Part Version: 1
Disc Size: 120mm
Maximum Read Rate: 10.08Mbps
Number of Layers: 2
Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP)
Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit
Track Density: 0.74 um/track
First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608
Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 1,513,663
Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0

so it looks identical.

anydvd and dvddecryptor can't find anysort of "protection" so i think its just the ptp thats jacking it all up. not some "protection" and until some1 rips it. we will all have to wait for ptp dvd-r DL recorders to come out.

p.s. this is the u.s. version of gt4. pm me if i can provide you guy/girls with anymore info.

carl.

p.s.s.

There are two ways of writing the DVD data layers: parallel track path (PTP) and opposite track path (OTP). In PTP discs both layers read from the inside of the disc to the outside, whereas in an OTP disc the outer layer reads from the inside to out, and then back in for the inner layer. This allows the drive to read both layers almost continuously, with only a short break to refocus the pickup lens. This is especially useful for DVD movies, where long play time without interruption is needed.

fix it till its broken

Oh my God, please someone shoot me in the head...

Dude, DVDFab is meant to make copies of DVD movies. There's no way on earth it could make copies of PS2 games.

Damn, I'm a newbie too, but at least before posting a comment I do some homework.

Yeah right, selling a game that cannot be pirated, thus that prevents pirates from stealing money from honest hard working people, that's SO against the human rights...
