why would i talk b@#$*$#t, what is the point of that what ive said is true no point lyin about stuff where the hell is that gonna get us XSFO4 [Quote]

i didn't say you was bull sh*****g,i said the theory that someone else came up with, this OTP/PTP buissness,is rubbish,it has nothing to do with this issue at all,i think iv'e proven that by copying it onto a dl disc, but unfortunately i need the original to be able to continue through the game, this to me means tthe OTP/PTP is not the issue here,it is more along the lines of DVD checks....one more point i would like to make in regards to this issue is,sure the HK silvers or HK pressed discs can copy this game, but they don't have these so called "special burners"they own the same dvd burners as any other joe blo and yet they can be copied onto these discs and read by the "modded" PS2

Hasnt anyone considered backing up GT4 for a single layer dvd-r? Other dvd9 games such as xeno saga have been backed up to dvd5 by reading the data from both layers and down sampling movie and audio files until it fits the disc. pssplex does a good job of importing and exporting ps2 media files for down sampling.

yeah, I know you're retarded.

well i wouldn't have to repeat myself if people read posts from others as well as mine, they have come to the same conclusion.it's these "numbskulls that give me the hoobies, the ones that don't take the time to examine the file structures on the GT4 disc, can't accept advice from people that have looked into it,etc,etc...
so to keep you and others happy i won't say another word...hows that :)

I order you all to buy the game bundled with the Logitech Driving Force wheel!

The wheel is so frickin' unbelievable, THIS GAME MUST BE PLAYED WITH THE LOGITECH WHEEL! Do you hear me? If you are playing a backed up version with the controller, YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON THE GAME, BIG TIME!

And since the bundled wheel + GT4 pack is such a good deal, you won't be paying much for the game anyway.

...uh, and be sure to set the force feedback to "simulation" mode in the options!

@ samuels

I didnt mean it in a negative way, I was just harmlessly commenting on people not getting that it can't be a OTP/PTP issue, and on how many times you've had to repeat that it isn't to people not reading the rest of this thread.

But I appreciate what you a others like L-burna are doing here, i don't have the skills yet to get as technical as you guys have in cracking games like this, so just as everyone else is, i'm hoping we crack this soon.

I play mines off of my hard drive and it works just fine. I dont understand. I use hdloaderlite and the same layout as I listed before and mines works. its exactly like the GT4 dvd5 torrent that has been mention. I would help others and give them the file directly but i have dial-up. but only if You have the official game

I really appreciate the help.

I think that it could possibly be the OTP/PTP issue.

Samuels. Have you tried burning the first layer to a DVD-r and swapping this with your origional?

My guess is that this would produce the same results as your DL Backup.

I think that the origional is structured in a way so that when the PS2 checks the second layer, the laser doesn't need to move.

I did read the other thread about the 2 layers on 2 discs. They said it worked but had to swap a lot.

I think the first layer on HDD and 2nd layer on a DVD5 is a good idea. (Probably wont work though :'()

I think the only way this game will be backed up is by some genius downsampling the movies / audio and some other genius changing all the 2nd layer checks to the first layer.

Or if we can get blank DL media which can make a true 1:1 backup of the origional DVD. (Burned in PTP)

If you do not have a hdd and hdloader then I dont know what to tell u but the way I did it works. also heres just another random site talking more on the subject.

http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=68471

Trust me mines works just fine and it plays like the original. if you have the jap version then it will not work with hdloader. that is all and anyone got any questions about this or my music then send me a pm

I really appreciate the help.

no i haven't tried that :) because i know it won't work....we need to be looking @ the dvd checks, there is heaps of data that is not required in this game, for instance the epson folder, thats for the option of printing out your photos of your cars in photo gallery...that could go,once again i know i said i wouldn't say anymore on this issue, but i have to :) if it was OTP/PTP issued the PS2 wouldn't even load at all with OTP,from memory you are all talking OTP that the game is burnt on,sorry i just get sick of hearing it :),also you would get error /warning messages from your burner saying it can't burn in that formatt...and the other usual message you get is do you want to procceed ...yes/no

hey nick, I used yer link and went to that site, they know even less there than we do here. How the heck could you possibly have learned anything from there? About the only piece of info i found there was the diff between OTP and PTP which we ALL know by now. No offense but i fail to believe that you have a working backup when nobody else does and that u learned how to make it from a site that has no info to offer. Got my hopes up for a second though. But only for a second.

Peace, Love, and Zippos

this goes back to what someone else said before about reading ahead first cause that was just a site with more on the subject. I did state that as well so read everything before you comment about me aight.

BEFORE I LIST THE SITE AGAIN HERE IS SOME EXTRA INFO I JUST KEEP SEEING.

DVD9 games on DVD+r dl now playable, including GT4
- by Dv8 On Mar 14, 2005 - 5:00 AM
Up until now, it has been impossible to play DVD9 backups placed on dual-layer DVD+r media due to the different physical format of the data on the disc.. Pressed = PTP, DVD+r = OTP

However, "Team Toxic" has discovered a software hack which enables DVD9 games to load from DVD+r dl media.

This also means Gran Turismo 4 is also playable on DVD+r dl media for the first time, including all other DVD9 games.

The Toxic flash release for DMS4 coming up in the next few days will include DVD+r dl auto-patching to apply this software hack on the fly, making DMS4 the first modchip to fully support DVD+r dl media.

Following that will be a DVD+r dl image patcher which will apply the soft hack to any DVD9 image before you burn to dl, which will let you play the games using any modchip.. That's "Team Toxic's" gift to the scene.
