ssjakie: How did you burn your ISO file with DVD Decrypter? I tried to burn my ISO with DVD Decrypter but it burned only layer0 to my disc. Apache shows that there is layer0 and layer1 in ISO file and dics contains only layer0. I have Matrix Infinity 1.4 and all other backups works fine! HELP!

Like everyone else I too want to know if my PS2 config will run a backed up version of GT4 (DUO2SE Mod Chip installed).

What would really be handy if someone could post a comprehensive list of known configurations that will support backups of GT4 plus any known issues and for them to maintain this list.

Its getting tough for people to come in here and wade through the huge number of posts to figure out what the heck is going on.

Any takers?

Cheers!

You make an ISO with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 and for the pal version it schould be 5GB if not then the iso is incorrect.

After that you just burn the ISO on a Verbatim dual layer at the slowest speed possible.

Quite simple so start using DVD decrypter.....

The duo2 SE chip will not work with this method you'll have to wait for a DVD5 rip.

Forgot to say that this only works in comination with a matrix chip or matrix clone (Modbo 4 example) with Bios 1.4 (beta i used). Don't forget to disconnect the power of your ps2 before trying to boot.....cause that might give probs otherwise

you will just have to wait or try and work a kit out yourself,my belief is that any chip can handle this game,we just have to get the checks right, people are working on it,the reason i say this is because everyone that originally tried to back up this game 1:1,not realising that we would encounter any problems(including me),if you can get it to boot and get at least a few credit screens, then in my opinion your PS2 can read the b/up

samuels: you said - we just have to get the checks right, people are working on it,the reason i say this is because everyone that originally tried to back up this game 1:1,not realising that we would encounter any problems(including me),if you can get it to boot and get at least a few credit screens, then in my opinion your PS2 can read the b/up.

What the hell is going on in this thread, I read this thread a few days ago and someone named toolboy said that he had copied it to a DVD9 and you can download the patch and all the other files from the a website. Now your saying that we have to get rid of the checks? If toolboy had copied it and it was working why are people still going on about how to get rid of the checks? I just dont understand this thread, its a bit crazy i have to say, i read forums on how to copy other ps2 dvd9 games and it wasn't like this and once they had a working backup everyone would just shut up and follow the guide on the whoever cracked the game.

All you people in this forum, especially toolboy, if you have not made a working backup of this game then dont write it down in this thread saying youve got a patch ready. And what the hell happened to this Sonix and the other cowboys team toxic with their toxic OS, i thought they said that they were gonna release a patch for this game so that it removed all the DVD checks and people would be able to burn it using their DVD writers on dual layered media, they also said that their toxic OS is out and people would be able to flash it on their DMS4 modchip and they would use that on the patch for the actual game. What is going on?

Sharky, you really got to watch out what you say and do some research first. First off, toolboy has done lots of work getting the game playable on the hd, as well as on DVD-9 for; however, as i'm sure, your chip has to be able to support it. I won't tell where to get any of this info, read the whole thread and research before you speak. Thanx

Sharky22 you got it wrong man, that is not what is in the thread. The dvd checks are still a factor for some people such as Swap Magic users and even some modchips. It might not apply anymore for HDD users with Toolboy's patch and kit,but that doesn't mean his patch is 100% guaranteed for everything else. The Dvd check fix Toolboy has supplied probably does work on some modchips, but they don't apply to all users.Toxic was the first to release a fix for the DMS4 modchips, yes the bios they released works and DMS4 is actually an official Dvd9 modchip.Sonix is a legend if you ask me and has contributed alot of stuff and nobody really said Sonix would supply anything. He doesn't have to work on GT4 if he doesn't want to.Who really said a person has to work on a game, nobody has to and you should remember that before shouting off like everyone should be working on this game.I assure you the newest ToxicOS is being worked on,but what alot of people don't understand is that the bios has protection also that needs to be decrypted.Toxic could be developing a patching program, but isn't Toxic teamed up with DMS.I was thinking if they released this patching program, then wouldn't the sales on DMS chips drop dramatically.I bet they do have a patching program, but I doubt it will be released to the public. You have alot of hostility for someone that didn't do anything for GT4,are you sure you are helping or just mummering jibberish.

Thank you for saying that L-Burna. I don't understand why people find that idea you mentioned so damn hard to understand : That this game-fixing for backups is a HOBBY for people. That we're people just like anyone else, and if anyone feels impatient about a patch, then too fucking bad. Either you shut up, hope that someone will do something about it (remember, I said HOPE), OR you can get up off your fat ass, and teach yourself the skills necessary to get the jobs done.

Reverse Engineering ANY program is hard, but disassembling a program made for a videogaming console such as a PS2 is even harder. So, unless you guys want to contribute something, you really should stop demanding so much from the only people who CAN do anything about this.

As for everyone else, join me in hoping that the legendary Sonix (as well as a few others) will take a look at GT4 and help us out in getting this game DVD5 sized. It's close, I can feel it, some truly outstanding guys are on the case, and they give it thought in their free time. Just give them time, and they'll deliver, they're good guys :D

yes, its a full image with both layers. If it was only 1 layer, it wouldn't be bigger than 4.4gigs.

I have completed the patching of GT4. Now that I am done, I have a file gt4_hdd.iso that is 5,148,440KB. Here is my question...Do I have to put this file on my hdd, or can I unpack the ISO onto the hdd. I am having some difficulties with Windows XP's NTFS, and I am wanting to go back to Windows 98SE with the FAT32. If I format the drive for NTFS, then I won't be able to read it in Windows 98SE. However, if I format the drive for FAT32, FAT32 will not allow you to have a file larger than 4GB in size. So, again, my question...Can I unpack the ISO onto the drive, or do I HAVE to keep it as 1 big file in iso format?

I have made an image of the gt4 using dvd-decrypter 3.6.4.0. Dvd-Decrypter created an (mds and an iso file 5.2 gb). Then i burnt it into a double layer dvd (traxdata) using dvd-decrypter again iso----->write at the slowest speed 1x. When i burnt it succesfully and
i tried it to my ps2 (modded with matrix infinity with 1.40 beta firmware updated) , the ps2 does not recognise it as a ps2 game and it displays the red sreen. Do i have to follow toolboy's tutorial in order to play the gt4 in DVD-9 or will i have the same result?

i'm sorry if i offended anyone i.e toolboy or samuels sonix and team toxic, i got a bit angry because i thought people were just putting false stuff on this thread because one minute it says the game is copied and working and the next minute it says that the game still needs to have the checks removed. Thats why i wrote that comment before but hey, all of you here especially toolboy and sonix and team toxic, your good people, you are doing a good job and i understand that you dont have to do this if you dont want to but you choose to do this, i have nothing to complain about, forgive me if i have offened anyone here. It is true I dont know that much about programming but I am trying to help, if i did have the knowledge i would try to do as much i could to help.

i used toolboy's tutorial about backing up gt4 into a DVD-9. Unfortunatelly, the result was the same. When the ps2 tried to load the DVD-9 backup then the red screen showed up. The strange thing is why my ps2 (modded with matrix infinity firmware 1.4 beta) do not recognise the DVD-9 backup as a ps2 game. It should at least show the playstation2 logo and then crash. Has anybody faced the same prob as me please help. I did toolboy's tutorial very very carefully. I am very dissapointed beacause i realise that my ps2 do not read DVD-9 media.

right, after reading the forum several times,i'm still not clear on where everyone is with this game!,ok..it loads up using hdd,ive tried to make an iso from toolboys patch(final all regions)and ntsc/pal onto a dvd9 which didn't get as far as the logo (mucho costo!! :( )the ps2 must be able to read dvd9 (first layer) cos it loads the logo/copyright then freezes at the layer-change with a straight dvd-decrypter copy, and some dvd movies are dual layer (ive burnt some)which also run on the ps2 (hence the pause for the layer break),plus..to make a dvd5 out of this game, you must resize the two .vol files (or just one of them if necessary) to fit on a disk AND re-program the core/img file to only look for one layer (which i believe the hdd patch does but i'm not actually sure about!)if this is so then all that needs to be done to get a dvd5 is resizing the .vol file/s..which leads to the question if the gtfs(gran turismo file system) can decrypt gt3's vol files, but the algorithm is different for gt4,then how come when you change the gt4.vol file name to gt3.vol,you can extract/edit/rebuild it back to a .vol file that will fit on a dvd5??,surely if the algorithm is different then it will simply recode the .vol file back to the original format it unpacked it from.
my head hurts,i'm going to bed,any more info on this would be great,i've been trying for weeks to do this!!

Hi all,

Here is my story, I went to buy dinner and took a shortcut in this alley close to the restaurant where I usually eat. Then I see this shop with all the gameboy cartridges in the display, I stop to check if he carries PS2 bootlegs. Guess what, he does! So I ask him if hez got an English version of Gran Turismo4. He showed me a copy and from another customer standing next to me got the confirmation that it is infact a full English version copy of the real game. THE GRAN TURISMO 4!!! And it works flawlessly, no need for hard disk, no need for no patch. No need for DVD9 burner or whatever, just I inserted it into my v9 PS2(Magic 3.6 modded) and it works. Select English at the beginning and it works! Yessss!

So here is the rundown: The GT4 I got is like the following

1. It's the Full game. The GT4 game! It's DVD9 and data is spread on both layers and can't be ISO'd. Like we never knew it.
2. What I spent $15 on, is a bootleg DVD9. Maybe master copied on a DVD9 gold disc. (pure speculation: coz it works fu**in flawlessly)
3. Works on my Magic 3 modded PS2, I got no HDD, no HDL, no patch, nothing but it works just by inserting in my PS2 tray. THIS GAME SHOULD WORK WITH ANY MODCHIP REGARDLESS OF MAKE/MODEL/SWAPDISCS
4. Everything is in English, but its Multi5 lang so its PAL ver. for sure. Its not Japanese version that I can tell you after playing it for countless hours.
I added a pic of dvd and insert below
http://img2.uaih.net/show.php?img=GT4disc-insert3.jpg&d=257

5. STFU, this ain't fake so don't assume it is fake. You want a copy without the fuss of wasting DVD9's/DVD5's, lemme know. You don't want it, STFU then. Coz if it's selling on the streets like this, its bound to work with every modchip out there.

Nice print on top too, a nice DVD insert also(see attached image) came along. So if anyone is interested , PM me. PM is given more preference choice.

Want it, I'll ship it for you from here. Only 1 copy per person man. I will be Shipping GT4 anywhere in the world. If you're willing to pay the costs that is the game and the shipping. I'll figure out an even figure once I go through a couple of requests I assume.

I am not a supplier so will keep it one(1) disc/person. I'll go to that shop, buy the dvd as it is and ship it to whoever wanted it. Just spreading the love to other racing fans like I am.

Well, that's cool and all, but something we're not really looking for, man. We want the game to fit on a DVD5. And we've already got the game working on DVD9. I speculate some assholes probably took Toolboy's kit, and sold the products as their own work.

I'd like to see those pirates get out a DVD5 disc before we do (It's not going to happen) :)

That's fine you're aiming for a DVD5 but to many it shouldn't matter if its DVD5 or DVD9 as long as it works just like any other bootlegs they have been inserting in their PS2's. I'm telling you, I was hoping to download GT4 from internet but finding it at a small alley shop really had my Jaws dropped without recovery for the next few days.

It's been done! GT4 has been cracked onto DVD bootleg. Does it matter if its a DVD5 or DVD9. Both work on older/newer PS2's(it does on my cozins age old PS2)

BTW, this is English. Every menu, detail is in english. It's pal, has other languages too.
