Toolboy - thanks a lot for all your efforts.

I have burned my 1st DL today after following your final tutorial. At first I didn't manage to load it at all, but then I realized DVD Decrypter didn't automatically finalize the disc. I have downloaded the latest version of DVD Decrypter and closed the disc.
The disc is now showing the Playstation logo, then the Sony disclaimer, then the driving wheel calibrates itself, and then screen stays black and laser trying to read forever.

If you need more info regarding my DL burning, let me know.

ok i've got 2 questions.

1. is the patch fully working for dual layered dvd?

2. is there a patch out to get it into a single 4.7GB DVDR DVD5?

if these patches are out where can i get it from?

I don't get why people continue to ask the same questions when all you have to do is browse through the last few pages of this thread to get all the information you need!!! READ THE THREAD!

i used a program called magicISO instead of apache since it kept locking up on me. extracted the iso to c:\test\GRANTURISMO4 and did everything... then i got hung up where bassy first got stuck! executing soz -d core.gt4 doesn't work! bassy, how did you get around this again? please help. also i don't see any second layer of my iso to get that other file extracted. anyone know if this is a problem with magicISO or do i need to remake my iso file from the disc?

i figured out the problems i was having before (found a couple new ones in the process lol) so no need for anyone to reply about that soz -d core.gt4 command, just a simple mistake on my part. i extracted to the test folder instead of the test\granturismo4 folder ^_^ my bad, well anyway now i can't seem to load my finalized image onto my ps2 hdd using winhip. i think i also never got that file that was on the second layer of the gt4 iso. maybe i'll just rip the iso off the game and start from scratch again.

p.s. i think apache v1.1 would still help :)

I'm pretty sure that release was nuked.
I'm talking about the GranTurismo4_PS2DVD-JEI or whatever it was, the JEI release was nuked a long time ago, pretty much when all the other releases were nuked.

I think it's funny, there aren't really any reliable pirating groups anymore. This game proves it. There were like 15 "scene" releases of this game, none of them worked, and no one has even tried to make it work out, except us. The pirates gave up WAAAAY before the normal, legal users did.

Anyone remember when pirates had pride, and would work hard to make their releases work? Like Echelon and the Dreamcast?

Meh, I'll stop before I get banned for talking about piracy.

I have followed the guide exactly and all I get is an ISO that is 1.3MB in size. It says it should take 15-30mins and mine is done in about 5 seconds. Anyone else have this problem?

playing double layer copy's (GT4) on your ps2

Due to high demand from all of you guys, we released today a beta version of the Firmwarwe v1.4. This firmware will give to everyone the possibility to use the Gran Turismo 4 back up on DVDL+R DL with the Infinity.

they say..... With the infinity...

Maybe the swapmagic 3.6 to....????

@ hhu23214

The DMS4 is a modchip, and yes, we are waiting for a crack even for those with certain modchips. I myself am confused about which modchips GT4 has or has not been cracked for. However, it looks as if it is just a matter of time before it can be burned onto DL+R media. I apologize if any of this information is incorrect; this is just what I have comprehended from this thread so far.

and @ BaSsLiNe

How would that be able to work with the 3.6? Is there a new feature in 3.6 that allows you to flash to your memory card or something? If so, I need to go out and get myself a 3.6.

back @ joe33333 - im gonna check around on the forums where the hdd patch was originally posted (ps2hd.com) and see if this problem has already come up and been solved. if i find an answer i'll post it. if you figure out the problem, please post the solution. if ANYBODY ELSE knows how to solve the problem of the iso being created so small, PLEASE POST. I will return with good or bad news!

EDIT: no sooner do I actually try to solve the problem myself do I find the solution! ok joe, this is how it breaks down:

my guess is you made exactly the same mistake I made - you didn't use your drive C: for this task. in order for this to work, the folder that you are working out of must be C:\test\GRANTURISMO4, can't be on a drive D, E, F, or any other drive. it has to be C. my drive C partition is only 2gb so unfortunately for me I can't do the procedure there. well, here is the solution:

unless you can do this on drive C (you need about 12gb of space or soemthing) you can go to this thread: http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1032&page=4&pp=10
and there, in the first post on page 4, is a download for an IML file. download and rename this file to gt4_hdd.iml and replace the old IML file with this one. everything should be peachy! if this doesnt fix your problem (if you ARE using drive C and still have the problem) well try this file anyway and if it doesnt work, come back for help. i'll see if i can be of assistance. peace!

the reason y ur iso was so small and u cudnt get the second layer is because magic ISO doesnt read dual layer disc...only single layer. Apache is the only one that i know of that can extract files from dual layer discs

no man thats not the problem. i finally got apache 2 working and used that. the original iso was fine, it's after the patch is applied and the iso is rebuilt that the problem happens. the file comes out to be 1.2 mb or something. by the way joe i tried that patched IML file and it didnt help, so im just doing the whole procedure on a different computer that has enough space on it's c drive. i don't know why this shit isn't working for us! anyone who has beaten this problem before, please help us out!

use this guide to rebuild it urself:
Quote:
http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/faq.php?faq=dvd9
u dont av to use the iml to iso program tho, its up2 u to save u time trying to download the app, u kan follow these steps:

4) MERGE THE .000 AND .001 FILES INTO A SINGLE ISO IMAGE.
THE EASIEST WAY TO MERGE THE FILES IS FROM A COMMAND SCREEN.
YOU WON'T HAVE TO INSTALL AN EXTRA PROGRAM THAT MAY NEED
EXTRA FILES TO WORK AND COME ON, ADMIT IT, DOS IS SO MUCH FUN!!
a)CLICK THE WINDOWS START BUTTON AND CLICK ON RUN.
b)TYPE CMD IN THE BOX AND HIT ENTER.
c)CHANGE THE DIRECTORY TO MATCH WHERE YOUR STAR.000 AND STAR.001
FILES ARE STORED.
EXAMPLE- IF THEY ARE ON THE C DRIVE, TYPE CD C:\ AND HIT ENTER.
IF THEY ARE ON ANOTHER DRIVE, TYPE THE DRIVE LETTER WITH A COLON AND HIT ENTER.
d)ONCE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DIRECTORY-
TYPE COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 STAR.ISO AND THEN HIT ENTER.
e)WHEN IT'S FINISHED YOU WILL HAVE A NEW ISO IMAGE NAMED STAR.ISO THAT YOU CAN NOW BURN IN STEP 5.

5) BURN THE NEW ISO IMAGE ONTO A BLANK DVD.
USE YOUR FAVORITE DVD BURNING UTILITY TO BURN IT AT THE
SLOWEST SPEED.
