Toxic patch worked for me!
My PS2 is fitted with a DUO2SE.
I used DVD Decrypter to create the ISO+MDS.
I then applied the Toxic patch to the ISO.
Finally I burned the revised ISO to a Verbatim DL DVD+R using DVD Decrypter in conjunction with my DL burner.
Put it in my PS2 and happy days... I was really surprised because I didn't think that the DUO2SE would support DL discs. [Quote]
they don't,the duo 2 and duo 2SE,thats the whole idea of the patch, and also if you notice,it didn't do a layer change while burning in decrypter,

Quote: Strange, same problem here. I tried the DVD9 PAL Multi5 iso-version of GT4, but the Toxic-patcher does not reckognise the 4.54GB torrent (unpacked ISO is 5.23GB) as a DVD9-ISO either, it thinks it's a DVD5 or something, and says ' Error : Not a dual layer disk ' .
What torrent-version/image did the dudes overhere use that succesfully patched the iso with the new patcher. Can I download the HD-patched DVD9 version for example ?
It's great that with all the bios-updates of modchips and patches the game finally is cracked and burnable, but since there were so many versions nuked back then it is still not really clear what torrent-version people should get. I saw STRIKE's DVD9 version mentioned, is that the only one 100% working ?
the actually file size is 5.27 GB (5,660,540,928 bytes) name of iso is s-gt4.iso when unpacked.
You ppl are downloading another verison of it patched already for use in HDD (Gran_Turismo_4_PAL_MULTI5_DVD9_HDD_PART1 and
Gran_Turismo_4_PAL_MULTI5_DVD9_HDD_PART2.)
My copy of Gran turismo was Gran Turismo 4 PAL MULTI 5 ( s-gt4part001.rar though to s-gt4part098.rar) when unpacked read 5.27 GB (5,660,540,928 bytes) total file name s-gt4.iso which was patched OK.
Now as I purchased the original PAL version of gran turismo 4 it backed up all ok using the toxic patch and dvd decrypter with out changing any settings.

Did you change the layer break sector with DVD Decrypter before burning the patched image?
No i didn't change any setting except i made sure that my benq burner did burn it as DVD-ROM. Before you actually burn in DVD Decrypter hit the little box right on the bottom right hand side in dvd decrypter to open the rom setting then i selected my burner hit DVD+R then DVD-ROM to make sure it burnt as DVD-ROM but as 4 any other setting NO.

Sorry I promised a report of a dual layer burn and test in my ps2 just fitted with a ghost 2 modchip. However it had to go back to the installer.(this guy runs a registered modchip fitting business and the feedback from some of his customers is excellent). When I got it back it would play everything except! ps2 games.SO, will try to post results this weekend.

I was unable to change my Drive to DVD-ROM when using DVD Decryper.. it didn't seem to support my Burner so I was a bit worried but I had no issues once the disc was burned even though it was listed as DVD+R DL.

amazing how many people come crawling out the woodwork when an iso patcher comes out!,all these people that haven't even got the game and are not interested in backing it up,just burning some skanky torrent that they've downloaded at someone elses expense!,shame on you!!,where were you lot when this was being cracked...probably playing a ps2 game that someone else made, someone else cracked and with a mod-chip that someone else invented!,this forum is for people who wan't to back this game up,not just 'burn a torrent'have some respect eh!

What settings do you use in DVD Decrypter? I keep getting errors and the disk never completely burns.
Did you change the layer break sector with DVD Decrypter before burning the patched image?

i just realised something about the Magic 3.1 - it only plays the original GT4 disk if i load it up as if it was a DVD movie, holding the reset button down for a couple of seconds. this is also supposed to turn the chip off, so basically my PS2 only reads dual layer disks (both movies and games) when the chip is off. so there's no way i can play a dual layer backup game, as the chip needs to be on to boot it
guess all us Magic 3.1 users are out of luck then

The problem i believe with Copying Gran Turismo 4 is that the Disc is written with an Illegal Table of Contents to prevent it being copied. I have studied this for a long time & it has taken me ages to perfect it!It's real size is 3,322,675,200bytes or 3.09GB so it will fit on a 4.7GB DVD so there is not need to use a Dual layered one. I used a program called Cyberlink Power Producer 2 Gold by saving the disc's image 1st and then i burnt the disc from image. It played fine on my mates PS2 as mine ain't chipped.
I used a Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1673s which i might add are an absolutely faultless drive.
Now i have 1 Question as i'm new to this,i even accidently put this info in as a new thread instead of replying to other user's comment. What forum would i go to find out about a program that can fit many DVD Movies on 1 Dual layered Disc (for example 5-7 movies)

I have my friend's working backup that runs fine in my v12 matrix infinity. Is it possible to make a backup of a backup without having to apply patches or modification to the .ISO?
In other words, can i simply use dvddecrypter on my friend's copy?

this ones to davidw101;
sorry but did you say that you got gt4 to run on a normal dvd!!,
gotta try that!,as for multiple dvd's mate, you can probably get two full films(without compression) on to a dl disc but more films'll probably have to be re-encoded to shrink them(loss of quality),and then you have multi layer films that just about fit on a dl disc and lose quite a bit of quality,i know dvdshrink can reduce the size with minimum quality reduction, but not sure to how much,or you can do it the old fashioned way(tmpeg decoder/virtual dub etc),not sure what forum it's on but try looking up kvcd or mvcd encryption on google, should help you out,as for gt4,did the cyberlink program extract the whole image as one 3.2 gb file?

I know that we've heard this from others, but I can confirm that GT4 works using DVD Decrypter Read/Write ISO to a Verbatium DVD+R DL disc, and using the DMS4 mod chip with the Toxic bios. Just remember to enable DVD+R DL support in the settings menu. WOOHOO!!!
BTW...those Verbatium DVD+R DL are $19 for a 3 pack at Wal-mart.

davidw101: so you are saying that you actually did a DVD5 version of Gran Turismo 4 that works? did you donwloaded the image and you then converted it? or did you created the image from an original and then converted it? did you applied the toxic patch to the image at any time?, can you explain the process you used step by step better, please?
thanks

Okay, So basically I am reading that people have successfully gotten a backup to work. I have the game and have made and ISO image of it using DVD Decrypter without changing any settings. Will I be able to add this toxic patch to my ISO. Can someone please explain what steps one would need to go through using and ISO image such as mine to create a DVD5 backup. Please specify programs, patches and program settings.
Thanks

at this stage you can't put this onto a DVD5..people claim to have, but theres no proof at this stage, you use the toxic patch for dual layered media.i noticed a person claimed to have made a DVD5 thru Cyberlink Power Producer 2 Gold ,but from what i can see(unless i'm missing something) this proggy doesn't have the capabilities, only for DVD9 based movies, for authoring to DVD 5

for those of you with a mod chip who did a copy of gt4 originally (on a dvd9) and just got to the loading screen, you can save yourself another dvd9,by:
extracting the image from the copied dvd9 using dvddecrypter, apply the toxic 1.0 dvd dl patch, mount the image on a virtual drive(ie.alcohol),burn the image on a dvd5(it'll only be 3.09 gb),then when it comes to playing, use the dvd5 to boot(until the screen goes blank and freezes) and then insert your copied dvd9,the toxic patch will be applied with the dvd5 and will allow the dvd9 to play,i'm playing it now off the unpatched otp dvd9!!
