tests are starting to show that the current media which every one supposed was going to last 100 years in actually fact may not be read after 5 years

I did check out the Philips 8X available locally (here on the island of Saipan) for a rip-off price (don't even ask, but I just bought one). DVDInfoPro reveals that it is indeed CMC Mag E01. Despite that, it burned easily and the scan looked perfect. I did try the comparison between ISO and the disk and--if I got it right--it said they were identical, which I assume is good. Do other utilities allow you to do more tests of blank media?

Within 5 years technology will probably look a lot different than it does now and our movie/data storage devices entirely different. Who knows? Remember floppies?

We could all be using blue ray blanks with 40 gig storage capacity.

And paying big bucks for blanks.

Anybody that thought these dvdr's would last a 100 years were fooling themselves.

naaaaaaaaa. We all knew they won't last forever. I have cd's from 5 years ago that I knew would not work and they don't and they were suppose to be the best quality blah blah.

the drive is about 1/2 the size of a regular tower case which means you need a big case maybe a cabinet
