I use AnyDVD with Decrypter all the time. For me Decrypter runs just as if AnyDVD wasn't even there, but for some people they have issues.

As of this date,
DVD Shrink can rip 96% of the DVD's
DVDD can rip 98% of the DVD's
AnyDVD can rip 100% of the DVD's
DVD Shrink may not ever be upgraded.
DVDD is usally upgraded a month or more after a new encryption comes out - maybe not.
AnyDVD is updated on the average of 3 X a month, When the last new encryuption came out, AnyDVD was upgraded to rip it 1 full day before it was released.
Everyone is free to choose for themselves.

Pete

Hi there,
Unless there was a major problem with DVDShrink, it won't really need updates anyway.
If you keep your DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD up to date, the files will always be unprotected and shrink can do it's job :)
Isn't this fun :)

A slight update,
As of this date DVD43 has been "tweaked" to make it more more stable - more able to handle the ARccOS encryptions and more friendly toward other software (I hope)~

From MY experience, the current version of DVD Decrypter rips 100% DVD's, I am in a position to test many region mastered(PAL NTSC)DVD's regulary and more Importantly it's free!
But any combination of the mentioned software could work too.

You are correct,
Currently DVDD rips everything out there BUT when new encryptions come on the scene, AnyDVD is by far the first to break it . . . Hence the purchase of AnyDVD should be considered a good investment.

Quote: my question is what does AnyDVD due
seems no-one has answered your question,hehehe.....:)
anydvd is a silent ripper that runs in the background ,(see the little foxes head near the clock),
its main function is to remove copyright protection encrypted on dvd movie's,you wont even know its there.
you just turn it on,and let it do its job
it will also remove the annoying adverts for you

Huh, huh, yet another AnyDVD convert :)
I'm thinking that AnyDVD's stock will rise through the roof now that DVDD is gone forever. The next encryption will seal that for sure.

@ squizzle,
Quote: guys don't forget about the PSL files that work with Decrypter
Actually those PSL files were for specific DVD's that DVDD couldn't break. There will be no more PSL coming from Lighting_UK or anyone else. DVDD is dead as it is.
BTW, As it is right now, since the current DVDD could crack everything out there, you'll see no place to put those PSL files under "Files".
So sorry to be the bearer of bad news BUT we have to face reality.

So sorry it was a "paper" straw :(
Not to worry, it will be some time before DVDD is useless. It can "do" everything out there now; the "Evil" MPAA will have to institute many new encryptions before DVDD is really gone.

I've used decrypter & Nero recode successfully for the past year, always ripping to a hard drive, and then shinking with recode. With decrypter's demise, I'm going to have to purchase an alternative ripper. Any DVD seems to be the choice of all the experts here at Afterdawn. My question is this, does it just run in the background, or does it run like Decrypter. Do I rip with AnyDVD to a file, or just start recode, and it rips automatically. Thanks in advance for the info.

@hursty: that's a very disturbing pic in your sig.
I just ripped Closer today with AnyDVD 5.2.3.1 and DVD Decrypter without a problem at all.
@scubapete:Quote: BTW, As it is right now, since the current DVDD could crack everything out there, you'll see no place to put those PSL files under "Files".
I use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4 and I can import PSL lists. If someone figures out what sectors are protected on upcoming movies, you can just make out a list in notepad or something and import it.

Hey haven't posted here in a while, haven't really had the need to cause of not running into a problem in long time but this one's just not working out. Trying to back up my copy of The Fifth Element Ultimate Edition that just came out not to long ago and im not getting anyware with this one. I tried using DVD Decryptor and that gave me this message
---------------------------
DVD Decrypter

everytime at a time of 04:16 from start, and thats 8% of the disc evertime.
So I then tried DVD Shrink and it gave me this message everytime
Error Message
---------------------------

---------------------------
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

So none of these worked and so then I went to AnyDVD and even that is not helping. Im stuck on this one and really could appreciate some help and some insight onto why this is being such a pain.
Again I would appreciate anybodys help with me on this.
Thanks

could be a bad press. It happens sometimes. Look for any visible damage on the disc, also check for what looks like color smears in the disc. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes I think it throws your ripper through a loop.

I stand corrected, I looked at DVDD very quickly and didn't sea it under FILE as it was "grayed out" and I was tired.
We can still import PSL into DVDD. BUT there will be no more "custom" PSL's being made for DVDD. only what's in the cache wherevever that is being kept.
Do you have a location to go for PSL's ?
OR a guide for Newbies to design their own ?
