Nice work!!! very nice work. What we have to address in this thread is the problems and issues arising from the now patch playable GT4.
For some the issues are backing up the game full stop, for others it's swap magic (the versions, what works with what)and also for certain chips and models of PS2 (the failure and success of certain combinations) I would invite all to post combinations used i.e your version PS2 what chip, what media, any new findings, anything that might be beneficial to users trying to learn how to back up this game and so forth, that way all will have their chance to express their individual needs, opinions, problems.

As for the newbies there are basic back-up tutorials covered in the forums under different threads so have a look before posting (use the search button). Most already know how to use DVD Decrypter I would suggest to those that dont to also check other threads or to visit the website (dvd decrypter) before posting. Also remember a google search can save heaps of time and space on a thread so try and exhaust most avenues before wasting other members time.

I have a pioneer 109, in DVD Decrypter you can not change the book type to dvd rom for this writer. Will a backup work if i leave it set to dvd+rw, or is there somewhere i can download a firmware upgrade( I already have the latest from the pioneer website)But still unable to change book type. Thanks in advance.

Try resetting decrypter to default settings(you must have the latest decrypter 3.5.4.0,i think thats the latest version),then go from there.actually first off you did make the ISO with decrypter didn't you??.if you did you may have a dicky blank media.at this stage thats all i can think of

i personally think you should be fine in doing a burn using decrypter,do a search and see if theres a booktype setting tool around for your particular burner,good place to start is www.rpc1.org
they have all the latest firmware upgrades.probably newer than pioneer themselves,make sure you get a cross flash,patch it with omnipatcher,as by using/doing this,if you need to take your burner back for warranty purposes,you can revert back to the original firmware

@ blackhawk...OK do you have Nero info tool,i know the burner you have is dual layered,but for some reason,it appears to me decrypter might not be picking that info up.check in Nero info tool,select your drive and it will detect the drive and give you the specs on it,just see if dual layer support check box is marked

@blackhawk
in the Nero tool info go right down to the bottom...supported write features,all the boxes should be checked apart from dvd-ram and mount rainier,for a dual layered burner.
yes you can use Nero to burn,if it came with your burner the Nero software..other wise use one of the latest Nero d/l supported burning software

you need to burn it onto a dual layered blank disc using the toxic dual layer patch,you apply the patch to the MDS file or ISO and burn with dvddecrypter,if your burner (dual layer) supports it you adjust your booksetting in decrypter to
next write....
dvdrom
then burn at 2x
if you are asking for a dvd5 copy,to my knowledge there isn't one out yet(ripped)...there is copies of them on silvers H/k copies...thailand.

@onetitjoe you can use the patch for either the ISO or the MDS but only one of them and only once.don't try and patch both otherwise you are most likely to get patch failed.... as for the red screen read the read me that came with the patch
