I did another one and this time it was 88% successfully on another FUJI 8X DVD+R disc. And YES.....I "can't" believe it -- holly shit, for whatever reason it went up to 88% now. Again I not kidding!! So, please disregard my earlier of 83% completion alright people. I would post up my DVD Decrypter "printscreen" if I can, but I don't know how to, which it required a www.url site and I don't have one. Can anyone show me how to? I try to save it in Word Doc and paste it in here, but it won't show it.

Anyways, here's some of the info that ya'll wanted to see. I'll try my best to post in here. Here's my DVD Decrypter READ MODE.

And here is the ERROR LOG of I/O intersect - YES...I did have an error of I/O. I just click "Cancel" instead of "retry" and boom..... it finalized with 88% completion this time. Again, it seems like a "coaster" but "NO" I was wrong, apparently, I was able to load and play flawlessly with Swap Magic 3.6 Plus with my PS2 V9.

Alkohol I totally believe you mate. I just wanted to see the readout from your DVD Decrypter so I could see why yours went further than mine. It might also hold some key to shrinking this thing down. Just pop ya disk in the drive and give us a readout of what DVD Decrypter says. As I said it's for info purposes rather than us not trusting you.
simpsim1,

Like I said; for whatever or an unknown reason, I've got an 88% completed of writing/backing up this time. Here is my completion of the FUJI DVD+R 8X, I put it in my Dvd burner and open up DVD Decrypter, and this is what it said:

Alkohol....Dude...i stand corrected...I FINALLY was able to make a backup using your method(basic)...the only things i changed was that DVD Decrypter checked for css protection more, turned burn proof off, turned volume lock off, and burned at 1x...after about 5 dvds one finally worked...so i will be the first to say SORRY....forget DVD-9 even if the game is only 85% complete:) j/k i'm still going to play the original but at least there is hope...and finally verbatim came out with dvd-r dl....YEAH

Damn dudes this is great stuff. Done what Evnflow said and got a good one going! Did anyone notice what else Alkohol said? He's using SWAP MAGIC! So there is hope yet I think. I'm getting hold of a "Virgin" PS2 tomorrow and I'm gonna try this with SM and see what happens.

ALL HAIL ALKOHOL AND EVNFLOW! (Even partial success is progress as far as I'm concerned1)

evenflow,

Yeah.... now you see, I was "not bullshiting" all along -- and like I've said it on my very first post, I wouldn't even dare to reply it in here if I was "all talking and bs only." Anyways, I'm glad to hear that you did finally managed to get a successful backed up now. However, for whatever reason I've got an 88% on a FUJI DVD+R successfully completed this time though. And again, for the last time, I didn't even use the "TOXI PATCH". I just backed up using DVD Decrypter all alone. When the error said; "not enough space on disc to write," just click YES or Continue to burn anyway. Later, DVD Decrypter will give you another "I/O error", just click "CANCEL" instead of "RETRY", this will make Decrypter finalized your disc really quick and eject it out. Now, take your DVD5 backed up and try to boot it with your Swap Magic 3.6 Plus and you should be able to load/play it smoothly like I did.

Note: Don't hit "RETRY" when I/O error pop up, and Yes... 88% on a DVD5 disc is worth it. Again, the downside is, it won't load the "MAIN MENU" only, but who gives a rat anyways. As long as I'm able to play, challenge races and do nearly everything, I could care less about the Main Menu.

(Even partial success is progress as far as I'm concerned1
simpsim1,

It's 88%, that's more than partial. I've said it before and will say it again, I'll keep playing as long and far as I could until it wouldn't load any longer. So far, I have not experienced any freezing or not loading yet, except the "main menu" only.

Yeah..... I did boot with my SWAP MAGIC 3.6 PLUS and it's working flawlessly.

When I attempt Alkohols method I get an error instantly and nothing is written on the disc. It seems my drive tries to reserve the tracks which of course don't fit on my disc. Is there anyway around this (Eg, new firmware?) or do I just need to get a new drive? if so what is the best dual-layer drive to buy. all the log for writing is below. I'm using cheap 'budget' DVD-Rs and have a Sony DW-U18A with stock UYS1 firmware (I haven't touched the firmware). I have read that my drive is a re-badged Liteon-812s or something like that, if that helps. Thanks.

Alkohol, yeah i tried another one and i got 88%...that is wierd i don't see how it can read one percentage once and different the next...they should be the same files, unless its skipping some of the encoding and grabbing mostly the vol files...whatcha think?

Crowy, yeah i have ntsc...i was wondering that also about layer0 but hey if it works it works who's to argue :)

RJSzynal, i don't think you have the volume lock "unchecked" under your settings in dvd decrypter...it WILL NOT...I repeat WILL NOT let you burn that dvd if that setting has been checked...good luck and remember for all of these burns burn at 1x or at the fastest 2x(possibly get away with 2.4x, but stick to the slowest speed your burner will allow...Holla

oohhh and i'm using Swap Magic 3.3

i was wondering if anyone can try to get the hdd kit and make it into 2 parts. i saw 2 torrent file already ripped to 2 parts.

the first one is called:
PS2-Gran.Turismo.4.PAL.MULTI5.DVD9.HDD.PART1

and the second one is called:
PS2-Gran.Turismo.4.PAL.MULTI5.DVD9.HDD.PART2

i was thinking we could burn the files onto 2 discs.

would that work?

I have read throughout this thread to change the book type to dvd-rom when burning with DVD Decrypter.

The problem I am having is I don't know who manufactured my burner.
in my device manager it is called "tsstcorp ts-h552b".

Can anyone help me?

i would either bet on LG or Lite On...everytime i see a samsung burner they are far behind...if not you could always try it the hard way and get a dvd-rw and test each one out..lol...sorry i know it would take forever...but like i said my bet is on those two...

csskiller, yeah man you don't have to have that iso patched(it wouldn't allow me to burn mine while it was patched)...i would delete that iso and mds file and reread it with DVD Decrypter and then make sure burnproof, volume lock are unchecked and that under the "CSS" tab under settings that you have "detect Mastering Errors" and "Force VOB CSS Flag Removal"(i don't think this one really matters) checked(at least that is what i have for mine....and then write that iso at 1x-2x....

So if my drive is a samsung, that means I can't change the book type to dvd-rom instead of dvd+r dl, since DVD Decrypter doesn't support that function for samsung.

Or am I just an idiot?

Your last resource would be Nero. I guess you can try to burn with Nero and set it at overburn, and set the "booktype" to DVD-ROM, or automatically set to dvd-rom whenever you burn any ps2 game.

What version is your PS2? If it's somewhere from 7 - latest, I think you may just need to lower your burning speed. I may be wrong though, however, I hardly change the "booktype" 50 and 50 for me when burning dvd+r media due to the fact that my PS2 v9 can play it flawlessly.
