extract the patch to the same folder as ur iso which u jus created with DVD Decrypter..then run the patch in the same folder as the iso..wait fr about sometime..u shud get a confirmation saying that rebuild successful or smthn..and check the size of the game...shud b about 1 gb less...then burn i normally with DVD Decrypter or Alcohol 120 at 2x or 1x..whichever want..thats bout it

What version of Nero will do the job with the udf portion? I have Nero Express, and have already been told that will not work. However, I have a few other versions of Nero as well.
Please advise,

kst68dog is rite
thats the same method i used and same tools and i backed up my fantastic 4 NTSC version game..
if u really want to play it and not waste too many games try using a DVD-RW first to test and see if u were successful.
jus remember as long as u followed the steps correctly it will work..size is cut down to 3.4gb from 4 something..
k hv fun..

you cannot use Nero to rebuild fantastic four(has a single file over 2 gb)
you have to use cd/dvd gen

This probably won't help much, but if anyone needs a plan D, you could always just burn xmen legends, i hear there like the same thing.
"Mladen, why on earth would you look all that info up to learn how to burn GT4"
"ITS FREAKiNG GT4"
"For god''s sakes it a racing game"
"pfft...so?"
"...you hate racing games"
"....damn you"
"so why do u do it"
"I just wanted to fit in"

SUCCESS!!!
The "how-to" found on the first page of this thread was a success for me. The additional "f4 - patch" that was later mentioned, I couldn't apply. I'm not sure if the patch was to resize the .iso file or not.
In any event, if one follows the steps on the first page of this thread, skipping step 2, it will be worth the work.
Watching that "image creating" flashing on my screen brought back memories of backing up my PS1 games. Back then, I just used CDRWIN, and applied patches since my PS1 has a mod chip inside.
I've installed the new flip lid for my PS2, and I'm using the Swap Magic 3.6 software. Oh yeah, I noticed that other games I've archived did have a stuttery start during the intro scenes. I think that's because I simply used DVD Decrypter to create and reburn the image, thus spreading the game data all over the DVD. I'm going to go back and re-archive those games using the same how-to as I did with Fantastic 4. I'm willing to bet the games will then be fluent without stuttering.
My playback of Fantastic 4 was smooth as smooth gets, and I burned the image at 4X. (I try to burn at 1X, but my burning software ends up always buring at 4X when selecting a speed lower than 4.
Right now, the demo of the game is running, and it's just superb. For those that wondered about the game play, it's like that of X-Men Legends, which is a great game as well. Heck, I'm 35 years old, and will always have some kind of game controller in my hand till I cross into the after-world.
For what it's worth,
Digital9x

Ok, I finally got it too work on ps2 v.7. So i will explain how I did it! I am also Using Maxell 8x DVD+R cause -R wont work for me on my ps2 ver7.
I also am using SM 3.3 with this! Works great for me!
1. DVD Decrypter
- MODE
- read
2. ISOBuster v 1.7
- File
- Open Image File
- Find your .mds file and select it
- highlight all the files
- right click and extract file (I suggest making a new folder - F4)
3. CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.20
- Create New Project
- DVD-ROM Master Disc
- Drag all files that you just did in the same order as it was in ISOBuster
DATA
MODULES
SLUS20615
SYSTEM
They should be in this order! (I believe?)
- Click Volume Button
- Disc Name: SLUS 20615
- Producer Name: PLAYSTATION
- License Area: USA
- Click Rec
- Error: ok
- Error: ok
- File: Export Image
- Save it in your Folder you made earlier: Name It F4
3. Download gdvd4-iml2iso
- Click ... to browse for file (.iml)
- Click Start
- BAM F4.ISO
4. Now you have an ISO about 3.7 gigs, some say use nero, but my nero wont do anything above 2.0 gigs. So I used
DVD Decrypter.
- Open DVD Decrypt
- Write: Find your F4.ISO
- Burn 2x = dvd+r or 4x = dvd-r

Those same steps seem to work for all games thus far for me. Pandora Tomorrow, Star Wars Episode 3, NFS Underground 2, etc, are games that have had successful playbacks. I think the over-all goal is to get that system file away from the outter edge.
Oh yeah, games that that worked that I performed a simple image creation, image re-burn, then turned around and used the posted steps, have ridded the games of the stuttering intro scenes and bg music.
Another note, my slimline PS2 reads both +r and -r DVDs (generic Office Max brand). Question: is the version 7 model the bucky PS2 console? Just curious.

I'd like to send a thank you to ArthurA for providing his guide. It's the one that finally worked for me. I too have a v.7 ps2 and I use Swap Magic 2.0. After multiple bad burns and thinking it was the media or that I was screwing something up, it's great to know I wasn't the only one having problems. Cheers!

Hi ArthurA
I used cdcdgen-iso builder for your part three like this and used Nero 66015 to burn from the iso image
3. cdvdgen-iso builder 1.2
- click "files" and add any files that have the name you used to save and numbers that
- will be something like 000, 001 etc, but not any with iml, ims or lst
- click open so they can be in the list
- choose destination, put in the save details, then click on build, that will take a little while,
- Then popup will say iso build succesfully.
Nero burning rom
- Open Nero burning rom
- Click cancel to wizard
- Click file open
- Browse to the iso you just made
- click on burn
thanks for the help
just added this for anyone
john
