"Just burn the iso image" seems to suggest burning the .iso as a file on the disc, which obviously wouldn't work...

I'm sure it's not what you meant, but i thought I'd clear that one up.

no it doesnt,
he asked whether to burn the iso or the files contained inside the iso
an iso is an image not a file, and i told him to burn the iso
you cannot go wrong??,so you have still lost me

if you want to mis-lead someone then this is it >>>
Quote:
If you are restricted to a basic burning program such as the windows xp writing wizard, then you will need to extract the files and burn them individually.
why the hell would he want to do that,?

i doubt whether you understand the concept on how to burn ps2 games,
otherwise you would have understood what i said, and wouldnt have written what you did

Look, I don't like arguing but you're going the right way about it.

That sentence was meant for him in case he didn't have Nero or any decent program for writing CDs or DVDs. As you should know, Windows XP comes with a writing wizard which a lot of people still use to write data to discs.

I understand perfectly well the process involved in Writing downloadedd games to discs, and know more about it than anyone else I know.

A .iso is an image, but it IS also a file. If it weren't a file, it could only be a folder, and that is certainly isn't.

lets just leave it at that than shall we,
as you have stated you have never downloaded a ps2 image, thus my pointing out to you that burning the files contained inside the iso is of no use whats so ever, and a complete waste of time

No i haven't ever downloaded a PS2 imagew, because I haven't chipped my PS2.

I have however, downloaded many images of PC games, which are ewxactly the same format.
I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

How you can even suggest that burning a PS2 game is any different to burning a PC game is laughable.

Here, Sammoris, all Hursty was trying to do was help the other guy burn his PS2 game. Even though you had some advice to offer, I don't think it was too smart to post without any experience on PS2 image burning.

Now.. I dunno, but that sure would put me off track. I would wonder what the hell to do. You didn't even say how he was gonna go about extracting the iso.

No offence, but before you start offering advice on PS2 image bruning, I think you should actually see how it is done rather than snapping at people who all they want to do is help.

Fine, I'm only trying to help. It would seem what is clear to me is not clear to anybody else. I'll take my inferior brain elsewhere.

I'm sorry, i 'm never like this, I'm usually very tolerant, but i just don't see why not having burnt an image for a PS2, but having burnt countless images for the PC (which, if i'm not mistaken is EXACTLY the same process) is any different.

Obviously there's something I'm missing.

My apologies, I won't bother you again...

Understand, that we're not telling you to go away, or leave the site or anything. We're just trying to get our point across. PC games arent exactly the same. They are burnt using a different method. RAW DVD, and PS2 games are highly sensitive data, unlike the PC, where the game runs of the HD.

How have you downloaded the game?
Is it via Bit torrent in a folder, or do you have a single .iso file or similar?

@Chris,

Those files are most probably WinRAR files, www.WinRAR.com - download the shareware version to extract them to get the iso.

First of all, you'll need to know if the modchip supports:

The region (i.e. PAL or NTSC) the downloaded game is
The format (i.e. CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW)
and thirdly that the files have all burnt properly.

Check to see if what's on the CD is what's inside the file you used to burn the game (You can use WinRAR to open .iso and .rar files, and just about any other format the game will be.

If you haven't got WinRAR, then go to www.rarlab.com

If the disc appears correct, you might want to check the modchip is correctly installed. Failing that, try booting the game several times and if still no luck, you may possibly have a faulty modchip, in which case either moan at the manufacturers or actually buy the game.

(That of course is a last resort... ;-) )

If a game is a DVD-ROM game (this should be clear if the iso size is above 850MB or so, usually a few GB) then you'll probably need to burn the game on a DVD MINUS R. Unless the modchip explicitly says it gives the PS2 support for DVD plus R discs, they probably won't read.

You'll need to get some high quality DVD MINUS R discs (Preferably of a reliable make, such as Verbatim, TDK or Imation) and then burn the iso files onto those. Obviously ONE DISC PER GAME unless the game comes on two discs in which case Two per game. It should go without saying that even if you can fit two games onto one DVD-R that will probably cause neither of them to work.

If you've burnt all the games to Plus discs, and there is no support for them in the modchip then you may have to reburn using minus as I don't think the PS2 is capable of reading Plus format media (you might want to confirm that with another user)
