Hi!
I bought Guess Who and Anchorman on DVD. I wanna backup them.
When I run AnyDVD, I got this for the 2 DVD (just change the Label Name):
Quote: Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 5.4.1.1)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1
Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Video DVD (or CD) label: GUESS_WHO
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!
RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Structural copy protection not found.
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
I heard that running AnyDVD could skip the "copy the DVD's video file to HD" part. How can I do this? Even if I run AnyDVD (the results are just above), I still have to copy the files on my HD (using CloneDVD 2).
Help me! I'm a big newbie.
Thank you

How do I rip the movie to the HD?
Is it faster to do this?

If I rip all the DVD (with the special features -- the size is approx. 7960 MB for Anchorman, for instance) on a Single DVD+R (4.7 GB), will the video quality be affected (be worse than the original)?
Can we do this faster than 40-50 minutes?
I mean, is there a faster way to backup DVD movie?

I'm doing The Downfall (movie of WW2 featuring Hitler) and it's been more than an hour (1h 10 min), and I'm still not done with the "Creating DVD files" step.
And I'm only doing backup of the movie, not the Special Features.
That's too long. Is there a fastest way?

DVDXcopy is pretty dead. You are better off with a CloneDVD and AnyDVD package because it is current and supported. DVD Xcopy's creators were bankrupted and forced out of the US for copyright infringement by the movie company lawyers. However, in terms of decryption and quality of burn, Clone DVD is fantastic.
Compressing a double layer into a single layer will definitely compromise the digital quality - unless you have some compelling reason, just DL it and foget it. CloneDVD handles DL very well. If you want it on your hard drive without having to flip a disc, then Borhan's post gives the best way to go about this.
Enjoy the burn....Aa

I have been trying to rip a few music video DVD's (Concerts etc...) using DVD Decrypter. That was the easy part
I then made a copy of the file using CloneDVD2...that was pretty straight forward too. Copy was completed successfully but when I played it in my DVD player certain segments are jumpy and then the video freezes. I did 3 different concerts and they all were the same. Originals are perfect so it's not the DVD player
Any suggestions????

Hi again,
Tried your advice borhan9....no luck. Changed the speed to 8x instead of the maximum setting I had it on before. I now have 4 failed attempts to burn a concert DVD.
Any more suggestions anyone?
Thanks

What is the make/model and current ver. of firmware on your burner. You can find this out by opening Decrypter and then the Tools Tab, Drive and Capabilities. Here is what it looks like
Also what brand of media are you using?

Your firmware on your burner is way out of date the current is ver. KY04, this is why you are having problems. You need the update for the burner to recognize newer media. Here is the Sony site update
http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#800
Also the brand of media is e.g. Sony, Verbatim, Fuji. What name brand are you using?

Thanks for the info, will update right away. Surprised that it is out of date, I just purchased the burner a month ago....oh well
My media is RiData DVD's. I have burned many movies with them before with no problems.
Can I just reburn the concerts from the saved files on my Hard Drive?

Yes you should be able to just use the files again as long as they are on your hard drive. Your media is okay, so good luck. Hope this works out for you.
